where to eat at mgm

We ahve been to Toy Story Pizza planet, Mama Melroses and the Brown Derby. We want to try something new. We have alot of picky eaters in the family. We have a 5 yo boy and 11 yo girl. Was thinking Sci fi or 50's prime time. Any suggestion where to go. I would like to enjoy meal without kids being bored out of their mind. What kind of food is served at Hollywood and vine and is it good?

I like 50s Prime Time Cafe. We have probally been to Disney about 20 times,and it is still a classic.

Hollywood and vine is a buffet I think. We like Sci Fi for lunch. The kids will enjoy it as it is so different, really cool. Stick to the basic burger type meal and enjoy. I also really like the salad dressing.

Sci-Fi is a lot of fun...but I agree that you really need to stick with the burgers/fries/onion rings/milk shake sort of stuff.
Sorry...never tried Hollywood & Vine. Mama Melrose is our favorite there for dinner.

Sci Fi is alot of fun and has good burgers,onion rings and shakes. I would recommend lunch and sticking with the burgers & shakes. Although I did have the BLT soup which was very good.

Prime Time has very good food your Mom made ~ Meatloaf, fried chicken and Pot Roast. They also have an incredible shake there (peanut butter & Jelly shake OMG ) they also have great desserts ~ smores and the Dad sundae.

Either one would be a great choice.

I also have a dd who is a picky eater and she loves both. We always go to prime time cafe. last time we went to Sci fi and loved it.

Either way you'll like them both.

50's PT would be our first choice (better food) followed by Sci-Fi. DH and I prefer 50's PT, but DS (10) loves Sci-Fi so we always end up eating at both.

A HUGE thumbs up for Sci Fi. This is a must-do for our family on every trip. The experience alone is so unique and full of Disney magic, I guarantee you all will love it. Order a juicy burger, onion rings and a milk shake and your'e good to go!

You will definitely not be bored at Sci Fi or Prime Time. Prime Time is a lot of fun, escpecially if you are willing to play along. I am sure that your kids would get a kick out of it. The decor is cute and the waiters are very funny. Sci Fi is also a neat place to eat. I am sure your kids would love sitting in the cars in front of the movie clips. Both are very unique experiences and a lot of fun!

We enjoy PTC also. We've had fun servers both times, but neither was pushy or the type that I had read about in other posts.

50's Prime Time.

My DS6 loves both. The hysterically funny horror movie previews from the 50s will keep everyone entertained, but there will very little interaction between the family. Sitting in a car, two per seat, in a dark theater, doesn't lend itself to much conversation.

If you choose 50's Prime Time, be sure either you or your husband is willing to egg on the server. We took an extended family trip in November 05 and my uncle gladly took over this roll with the waitress. Their banter had everyone at our table (and in the entire room for that matter) laughing. The best was when my husband didn't like his mashed potatoes and tried to hide them under his chicken--which our son promptly reported to "Aunt Cindy". She scooped up a spoonful and actually got on the floor to try coming up and under the table to the other side. My son still talks about this one at least once a week.

With either one your family should have a good time and a nice meal.

I would also have to vote for Scifi, our DS6 loved it there last year. He thought eating in the front seat of the "car" was the best.

Sci-Fi is a lot of fun. Just go for the experience and don't expect much from the food. The burgers and the hot fudge sundaes are the safest things there.
