Where to eat AK

Hey there,

Planning our first trip for December and have got character meals planned for our days at MK for our 2 little girls. Now trying to figure out where we'll eat in the other parks and can make our AK reservations today. Wondering what a good place would be for lunch here - characters not necessary.

If you are looking for a table service I would recommend Yak and Yeti or the Rainforest Cafe. The only other table service option is the Tusker House and the food tends to be eclectic.

We LOVE the Flame Tree Barbeque. It's a QS restaurant, so you obviously don't need an ADR. The food has been great everytime!

We tend to like the buffet at Tusker House. So many choices and the desserts are great, too.

Although you already have a character meal planned, the Tusker House breakfast is good and the characters are fun.

Rainforest Cafe was scary to my dd until she was about 5. She didn't like the way the animals freaked out over the storm and the loud thunder. I've seen other preschool aged kids and toddlers have the same reaction. I have no idea if your kids would be sensitive to this, but thought I'd share my experience. At about age 5 or 6, dd started enjoying RFC.

My girlfriend and I usually go with a quick meal at Flame Tree and we both usually stick with the BBQ Chicken Salad. We find that some of the heavier meals make us feel rather sluggish, and with all the walking we do at AK we find the salad hits the spot well and don't hold us back. The other offerings at FTBBQ are pretty good as well.

Make an ADR between 1pm and 1:45pm at Tusker House and you get to avoid lines and get good seats at the 3:15 Finding Nemo show. Also, the food and service are very good at Tusker House, although they do have the loudest waiter in the entire world.

We really enjoyed Yak and Yeti back in May. It was great to get in the ac for awhile.

I don't know if you are on the dining plan or not, but Rainforest Cafe is not on the dining plan. It is a nice place to eat though if your child won't be afraid of the moving animals. My kids enjoy it.

I will second a vote for this one. Book after 1 pm and you get priority seating at the 3:30 Nemo show. Ask your server for a voucher.

I was actually suprised how much my DD5 enjoyed this meal. The buffet has sandwich meat, and some of the other kids usual fare. But my daughter tried a lot of new foods too. It was a break for her pallette from the fast food kid meals at Disney.
