Where to do ADR for 1st timer?

We have my DB and DBGF coming with us in July and not sure where we should eat. My DH and I consider ourselves vets now but not sure where to eat for first timers? Any suggestions? Oh DB loves steak!!!

Are you looking for great dining? Character interaction? Disney magic?

OK. For great dining I would say California Grill for dinner - get a later ADR time so that you can catch WISHES. Pure magic.

For characters I would say you can't go wrong with Pooh and the Gang at Crystal Palace. Dinner is great there and breakfast is good, too. Liberty Tree Tavern is great for some classic characters - Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy and Pluto. Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK with Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Mickey - plus if you get an early ADR (8am) on a NON EMH morning, you'll get to ride EE before the massive crowds head over there!

I also would recommend the following as they're our favorites and must-do's for almost every trip. And our 3 first timers last summer LOVED them all!

4. Chef Mickey's breakfast
5. Le Cellier

I second LeCellier...great steak there went we last went. Going again in August and have ADRs to LeCellier and Yachtsman; too bad you are going to be there b4 us, so our reviews won't help! Also, purely for the ambience, San Angel Inn (Mexico, Epcot) is beautiful inside. The food is fine but nothing to brag about. However, my entire family LOVES eating there the best b/c of the atmosphere. It really is something to experience for 1st timers.

For a great steak, I'd also recommend Le Cellier. Our best meal ever on property was there! We'd heading back in August and I can't wait!!

If you're looking for Disney immersion, there's nothing that says Disney to our family like Chef Mickey's. It's a traditional first night dinner for us every trip. (Except the last quick one, which DD is none too happy about!)

We took DH's Dsis, Dbil and 2 Dnieces for their first moments on Disney property in October 2004. I was worried, as they are a little older and more serious than us--Dbil is 51 and the older Dniece was a very cerebral, grown-up 14yo at that point. Dbil was smiling so hard, I thought his face would break. He has not stopped talking about that dinner--and the whole trip--to this day. To us, CM is quintessential Disney and a great way to start any first timers visit to WDW.

Your choices may be limited. I'd say its unlikely you'll find anything available at Le Cellier or Chef Mickeys. If your budget can swing it, signature dining often has good steaks - Flying Fish and Jiko have two of the best I've had, and I've heard great things about Yachtman. Concourse Steakhouse is probably available on short notice.

I love the California Grill with a window view of the castle. No better way to capture the magic while you're eating. Also a place that has good steak is the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary- has a great filet mignon and it's fun to watch the monorail go thru the resort.

If they are late eaters, I would suggest O'hanna's at sundown and request a view of the castle. Their buffet is one where they bring it to you family style, all you can eat for one price. Their is a little entertainment by "cousin" and an opportunity to learn how hula. It was alot of fun and being there at sunset, the castle illuminated and wonderful food. We had a great time.
