My DD is a very fussy eater.
This seemed to change whilst we were away, she ate 3 good meals a day.

So a bright idea came into my headwhich made me don a apron and hat (disney) ones of course, and we purchased cooking with mickey receipe book. This has most of the things she ate and enojyed, thoughout the WDW, also has reciepes for other disney areas.

Only one problem most things are American ingredients.

Does anyone know what the equilvent is of Orange American cheese.
This is for Mac and Cheese from Sci-Fi restaurant.

And to make cookies from Epcot I need "Shortening" what is this?

I think shortening is butter / margarine / lard ?

We sometimes buy squirty American cheese, do you think this would do?

Princess,
Miffy's very close. It's used in the place of lard in recipes, but is not a meat product. It's rendered from vegetables. I copied the definition from foodnetwork.com, a site you might want to bookmark if you're thinking of doing some American style cooking. It's a wonderful source of recipes and cooking information.

A solid fat made from vegetable oils, such as soybean and cottonseed oil. Although made from oil, shortening has been chemically transformed into a solid state through hydrogenation. Vegetable shortening is virtually flavorless and may be substituted for other fats in baking and cooking.

As to cheese for macaroni and cheese--is there any chance you can find Velveeta in the UK. The brand is Kraft. It's a processed cheese that was originally made for restaurants to use for a quick cheese sauce, so it's super melt-y, which makes it great for macaroni and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. Velveeta is a kid friendly taste and as mac 'n' cheese is on just about every kid's menu at WDW I suspect the chefs there either use Velveeta or something very like it. Really good macaroni and cheese recipes use sharp cheddar cheese and milk or for a richer version, a white sauce in place of the milk. I would think an English cheddar would be excellent, but probably won't taste like the WDW version. Good luck. Let us know how you do. Susan
