We're on the look out to add 2 kittens to our family but my husband says I must buy a cat tree for them to play on. I think we want something around 3-4 feet high with at least one cubby that they can "nest" in. But I don't want to spend $100+ on something I don't consider fashionable furniture :rotfl2: Is there a good source you have for finding these more reasonably priced?

My husband built one for my cats a few years ago. He used wood pieces that were left over from some other project he was working on. my cats love it!

I don't like to spend alot of time messing around looking for this type of thing so I bought mine at Petco.

It's 5 foot tall with 1 perch and 2 cubby holes. It was about 60.00 at the time and this was a few years ago.

Your husband is right that you'll be glad you have one. Our cats love ours.

I got a small one at home goods for $25 (she plays, sleeps and hangs out on this thing 24/7 - best $25 spent). I would like a taller one but it was a good deal and I live in a small apartment so it works for now. My sister has a larger one, she told me that most pet stores have them on clearance about once a year.

My boyfriend might end up making one for us to, since we have such a specific space to fit.

Try amazon. Over the last several months we have come to realize we can find almost anything on amazon, and it's always cheaper there. We have a prime membership so we get free two day shipping too, so if you don't have prime ask around and find a friend maybe that does.

If someone is handy. Already has the tools. Make your own.
Then if u decide to carpet the thing. Staple gun it. Pick some remnant or if you have some to cover the pieces u want
I will say the twine for the cats to climb and sharpen is expensive so don't forget to price that part out. Don't use nylon twine not good for cats.

I bought plans for 10 somewhere. Then modified to work to me.

We got a good one on ebay, it was really large and was about 80.00. Came in pieces but was really easy to put it together.

Too funny that I just happen to see this thread! I have been looking for a cat tree for almost a month now and looked Everywhere! Wal-mart, Target, Ebay, craigslist, garage sales, etc. I found the BEST one brand new at Petco for $89.99 + 15% off. I bought the last one and got the additional % off. This one has 2 perches and a lounger on it..its amazing! The next cheapest one was only $10 cheaper and only had 1 perch. I'd check Petco..I looked everywhere and ended up getting mine there. Ever since I got it my kitten hasn't gotten me up at 4:30 am..LIFE saver!! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. I have looked briefly at Petco and they seemed to be priced better so that might be where I head.

We bought ours at Petco after shopping around and comparing prices/quality. We went with the biggest one they had, it was $200. With 6 cats it had to have somewhere for each of them :thumbsup2 They have a lot of smaller ones for really great prices. We were in there over the weekend and they had a bunch up front on clearance.

Try Ebay.... I second the aramark brand and they sell on ebay and usually offer free shipping.

I bought my cat a huge one from here. We've had it for four years and it survived a move. Good stuff.

That's the same brand we had. I bought it about 6 years ago. At that time, the manufacturer sold on eBay, but I don't know if they still do. Ours is huge, it's around 7 feet high. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten a 4 or 5 foot one.

It came in pieces, but it only took DH about 15 minutes to put together. He could have put it together faster, but he had 2 kittens "helping him". :)

My cat loved his cat tree! He would curl up inside the 'house' section and monitor activities in our house, then fall asleep. Too sweet!

I've gotten several off of Ebay over the years. You can get a really big one for under $100 with free shipping.

OOOOHHHH thank you! I just ordered one from there. DH was always going to make one but he has good intentions but no time so the cats may never have gotten one. It was $88 plus coupon code ESYCDY for 10% off and free shipping.
$79 total and it arrive in 3 to 5 shipping days.:cool1:
My cats say thank you. They will be soooo excited! :yay: (DH says thank you too)
