Leaving October 5 for 7 days at Hard Rock. We've never been to US or IOA before. Where are the best places to eat? Five of us, including three kids ages 10, 13, 13. They are not picky, and are willing to try new foods, but not exotic! Thanks for your opinions!

Your children would probably like the Hard Rock Cafe.
My absolute favorite restaurant is Mythos in IOA in the Lost Continent.

I like to eat at IOA at the Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park. This is what I eat and it will give you a sense of prices.

For the date mentioned, oct 5th.....Thunder Falls Terrace will be host to Fear Factor house for HHN

True that.
It's a conditioned response, I think

Margaritaville would probably be a fun place for the kids too, with it's upbeat, party atmosphere there...the home of the Cheeseburger in Paradise! :)

NBA City would probably be a cool place for them as well...even if they're not that into Basketball, it's got a great theme and decent food! There is Nascar, but I haven't found the food to be that great...and kinda pricey for it to boot. Nascar has a pretty good arcade for the kids while Mom and dad enjoy a cold drink as well. ;)

In IOA, the theming in general would probably be appreciated with fast food places like Captain America Diner 4 (with a superhero theme) or the Enchanted Oak for BBQ type of food...The Comic Strip Cafe has a variety of different cuisines (but keep in mind, it's still counter service! )
Mythos in IOA is definitely the best sit down restaurant around, but I'm not sure if it will appeal to the teens or not, it depends on whether they are slightly adventurous in their dining or not...although, their burgers are quite tasty there too! :)
I almost never dine in USF, so I'm not much help there, but the Monsters Cafe definitely has a cool theme!

Take the time to visit Mama Della's at PBH and Margiritaville. You'll not be sorry.

That's very true and will not open until December. I wasn't telling her to go there, I was only saying that's where I eat.

Mike

So why would they post on the board just to find out where you eat, and how much it costs to eat at a place that is closed!!!!!

   :smooth:

Second on the MYTHOS:smooth:

Can I ask you why it bothers you?

the request was very specific and the answer was highlighting a closed eating place. I guess 50% correct is not to bad!!!!
questions are asked on this board to obtain the most up to date info. Those of us that live close and go frequently should provide detailed and current info when we can. Answers from the past or even 3 months ago may be outdated

:smooth:

Yes and most people that are asking the question about what do you suggest will attempt those places. What are they going to do when they attempt to goto Terrace Falls and find out it is closed because it is a haunted house for HHN and won't be re-opened until mid Nov. or early Dec.

When was it asked in the original question she asked for opened or closed places?

You're kidding....right???

Mike,
When people save all of their hard-earned cash for a vacation, they come here to get advice and tips and info. If you know darn well someplace is closed the dates that person is seeking info for, and you chose to post the info about that place simply because you're put off that they are asking a question that you just answered and don't feel like typing an answer, then best to say nothing. If someone was doing a fun poll...like what's your favorite restaurant, OK. But DisneyBarb gave specific dates for a reason...because THAT is when they will be visiting, and THAT is when they are looking for advice on dining for.

And to add to your other comment...she asked for an opinion on where she should eat...what you gave was a fact, you eat there, that's not an opinion. If your opinion of where she should eat is Thunder Falls terrace, then that's silly since it's closed ;)

Just don't post if you don't feel up to giving current info to people, you're not helping them.

Karen :smooth:

Probably the best thing to say in this case is that the Thunder Falls Terrace is a good place to eat, but it's usually open seasonally. If the restaurant is open when you visit, then by all means, eat there. If not, you can try some of the other fine eating establishments on Universal property.

Have the sushi appetizer at Mythos!!!! It's all I can think about now!

I just looove Cap'n Van's Crab Burgers here on Amelia Island! Oh, no one asked about here, did they? Well, let me tell ya, they're open!!

At IOA, gimme the rib platter at Enchanted Oak Tavern and set me in front of the Alchemy TV on Sunday at 1pm.

SORRY FOR EXPRESSING MY OPINION WHERE IT IS I LIKE TO EAT!!!

As for hard earned money, I doubt it so seriously that someone's trip would be scared because Thunder Falls was closed. After all thats the only reason shes going right?

Mike

No, it's probably not the only reason she's going, but people who have never been, or rarely get to visit the parks like to plan their events, and dining is one of the tops on their lists of things to plan. Who wants to go on vacation and have lousy meals? ;)

Some people actually have every moment of their trips planned out in advance...but some just like to have some good ideas of places to go. They hardly ever want to know where would have been a good place to go had they chosen a different time. :)

Jag...I'm with you! :)

IT WOULD BE REALLY NICE.............JUST ONCE OR TWICE MAYBE............ TO CHECK OUT WHAT LOOK LIKE AN INTERESTING THREAD, TO SEE THAT IT ACTUALLY HASN'T TURNED INTO AN ALL-OUT SLANGING MATCH:mad:

I feel embarrassed for the thread starter here, a simple question was asked, I'm sure all responses are welcomed...PLEASE, lighten up everyone, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, it's a beautiful day!! Lets all try and get along:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

(Please don't shout at me now...I couldn't bear it:confused: :p )

Remember, other people read these post, and while the info may not always be helpful to the original poster, it might be helpful for someone going at another time. I agree Amazing Grace, If I wanted to read slamming and fighting type of post, I'd go to the debate board. Let's all try to play nice here!

I can testify to what Karen said. Alot of people like to plan out every minute of their day. I am a cast member at the Disney Reservation center and I couldn't tell you how many times I was on the phone with a guest trying to plan out every meal in the parks and resorts. I know that they get disappointed when they hear about a place to eat and then when they call to reserve it, it throws a monkey wrench into the plan then they have to re-plan their days due to it. They really take the word of people on boards like this and then again the people that they talk to in the reservation centers, either Disney or Universal.

You're right, it might not be helpful to the original poster, but since THEY asked, they have a right to have current info, and not be told basically that they were inconveniencing someone by asking a question that has been asked already. As Barry said, it would be fine to say that someplace is a great place to eat, but it's closed currently...but for those looking for someplace during peak seasons, they might give it a try. A simple blurb stating that the place is closed would be considerate.
I know for myself, I'm not trying to start a fight, but when I see information being given out that isn't current or is just wrong, I'm going to say something...Having someone posting info that is incorrect and saying that they just didn't feel like posting the correct info because it was asked recently is just unnecessary.

To those of you who feel like it's the debate board, would it be better for those of us who see incorrect info to say nothing to keep it harmonious here? Unfortunately, even if it IS incorrect, it's always met with opposition. We never had these problems here before, so I'm genuinely sorry if some of you are upset. I'm certainly not happy about it all myself! I'd certainly like to see the "problem" corrected and I don't mean to ruin people's enjoyment of these boards, I'm trying to help to see that people can plan vacations and that they have current info, without having to be made to feel bad for asking.

I won't post if people are going to think, "oh no, MsDisney has posted again...what is it NOW????"!!! I really just want to offer information to people since we live 15 minutes from the parks and visit often, so we are usually able to help people with current info...

Now, where else do people like to eat??? :)
Karen :smooth:

Hi guys! As the original poster of the this thread, I feel honored that so many people have responded to my question! I really have found great information for our trip here and, even though I don't plan every second of my trip, I do like to have a game plan as to where to eat. (Eating is my second hobby, especially when I DON"T have to cook, lol!)

For now, we have decided to try Margaritiville, NBA Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe, Mythos, and play the rest by ear!

Keep the suggestions coming! I'm already getting HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: You all crack me up! This is the most entertaining site on the web! My husband and his friend are the webmasters and hosts for our town's local website, and the little "tit for tat" that sometimes comes about always tickles me to death! I just hope I didn't offend anyone for asking a question that had already been posted earlier. I don't have a lot of time to read previous posts and just start asking questions without doing my research!

Again, thanks for all your hard work on maintaining this site. I know that it takes a great deal of time and patience and I certainly appreciate your personal knowledge and experience!!!
Thanks again!
