Where should my sister stay

I have a question for those who have stayed at other timeshares outside of Disney.

My sister is in RCI timeshares and we are in DVC.

We will be staying at the Beach Club. Any suggestions as to where she should stay, that is close to WDW. We will both have a van, (big families) so the trasportation will not be an issue.

Also, can she use the pool at BC if I am a member.

Thanks

Sharon

If she is trading through RCI, Fairfield's Bonnet Creek may be a convenient choice, I don't know if the Marriott Vacaton Club uses RCI, but that looks to be fairly close, too. I don't know the actual name of the Marriott resort.

You would have to check with the front desk to see if they will allow guests at the pool. Stormalong Bay is often crowded and they may not. If you are not up to the maximum capacity of your room, you could get extra keys for them to use for admittance to the pool.

We own, in addition to DVC, another TS that we trade through RCI. We have stayed in many Orlando/Kissimmee TSs. The most beautiful by far is HGVC(Hilton) at Sea World. I don't think it was be the closest to WDW, but it is a fantastic resort, large gorgeous rooms, and I have noticed many time that they have had availability even with late notice. I think it is so large that it is easier to get in than some of the others. If you plan a Sea World or Discovery Cove trip during you visit they would be right next to those. Even if you don't do those things I still recommend it as a great place to stay!!!! Lacee

Also, the new Bonnet Creek resort would be convenient location-wise. She could try to get into there but I don't know how hard it would be.

If you get along with her like we sometimes get along with my wife's sister, you might have her stay in Hoboken.

If she has a membership, or an option to join II, then I think it would be better in the Orlando area than RCI. II has a ton of listings in Orlando, and it is always pretty easy to get an exchange.

I do not think that you will have a problem bringing them into SAB for pool time... especially if you have enough room keys for the total condo occupancy. Even if you don't... getting additional rooms keys is very easy (IE: lost key replacement)... so it is easy to get additional keys. I am not advocating that you do this... I'm just saying that it is easy to do if you make that decision..

When we were staying at the Beach Club Hotel 2 summers ago, we invited friends who were staying in a condo near Sea World to come visit with us one night. They were a family of 6... and we had my family of 5 all together pool side. I had asked for permission prior to inviting our friends, and the BC staff told us that it would be fine to have our friends join us as long as we were present.

Westgate Villas or Westgate Lake is okay. The Villas are on 192 so there is no traffic getting to Disney. The Lakes are across I-4 from Sea World...you can get to Disney without getting on I-4 just by taking the road in the front.

The Villas reminded me a lot of OKW ...which is one reason why I'm not that enthusiastic about using my points for OKW. Westgate Town Center is also by the Villas. It has a lot of pools. That's about all I could say about it.

The Lakes are quite nice but I think she would be wise to ask for a lake or water view...not a pool view. The onsite restaurant is pretty good. In the summer they have an inflatable playground in the lake. The downside is that these are multi-story units.

Oh I forgot...

She can only trade for what she can trade for... You might get better help if you posted a list of the options that came up as available for her unit.

I never realized how significant that can be until I compared the available trades for my week 6 unit versus a friends week 50.

Make sure that you get room IDs for your friends. They check them very carefully - eveyone's ID, not just the adults. No ID, no wristband.

If you are going during the summer months when the pool is very busy, it may be very difficult having your friends join you. If you are going later on when it is cooler, the pool will not be so busy and you may be able to have them join you.

You might have a better time getting together at one of the water parks instead of SAB.

My sister said she has a Fairfield timeshare affiliated with RCI so she can stay at Bonnet Creek. Fairfield is kind of like DvC with points, October (when we are planning to go) is low season, so she can get a 4 bedroom for a week with her points. the timeshares must be very big, a four bedroom would be nice.

Also, we are taking my mom, giving her a studio, so we could ask for an extra room key for her.

Thanks for all your information.

I own at Vistana which is 4-5 minutes from DD. I can get to the Marketplace parking lot in literally 5 min. I've gotten to Epcot in 10-13 min. If she stays here, tell her to request either the Lakes or Cascades section. These are the two newest sections. Feel free to IM me if you have any specific questions about this resort.

The Villas reminded me a lot of OKW ...which is one reason why I'm not that enthusiastic about using my points for OKW.
Unless I'm thinking of some other property, a friend of mine stayed at the Westgate Villas so I saw them firsthand and I'm also an OKW owner. I don't think they could be further from different ? The decor is directly opposite. OKW has warm, tropical colors while Westgate is very ultra contemporary with hues of blue, black and white ? Maybe we're not talking about the same thing, but I don't see the similarity at all ??? Just my opinion...........

Mom23boys,
If your mom is alone in the studio, you can request up to three additional keys for her room, b/c the maximum studio occupancy is 4. Just be sure that you put 4 people down on your reservation. If you are going in Oct. I doubt that you'll have trouble getting them into SAB if you ask. Don't forget to ask for the max # of room keys for your room too (4 for a 1 BR, 8 for a 2 BR, and 12 for a GV)!
Have a great time, we're going in Oct too!

Don't worry about her not having II, RCI has at least 30 different resorts in the Orlando area. In fact, it is one of the easiest areas to book, or has been for us, even in the busy summer season. Most of the resorts are nice, please don't let people tell your sister they are not as nice as Disney. We love our DVC, but our RCI resort gives us much flexibility, we can go where ever we want WHEN EVER we want, just like DVC. We are still in the old weeks program, but we are definitely not locked into the week we own. Let us know where she decides to stay, and maybe some of us have stayed there and can tell you about it!

SilverLake Resort, and Orange Lake Resort are 2 choices not mentioned. Both are close to disney when using Sherberth Rd.
