Mom and I are heading there in 2 weeks (:woohoo:) and I have an ADR for Garden Grill, but now I'm reading some DISers reviews and I am getting scared . Does anyone have any suggestions for where we should eat dinner at in Epcot? Or, as an alternative, in any of the resorts? We do not have park hoppers, so it can't be in any of the other parks. TIA for the help! :thanks:

well for one, reviews are personal, and I love some places that other people HATE......so if it looks good to you, interesting enough, and fits into your plan, I would go for it....(btw, I really enjoy GG)

that being said, if you're in Epcot, you have SOOOOOOO many choices......it may even be a little overwhelming to choose.......and EVERYBODY has their fav restaurant in Epcot.....and also, THAT depends on what kinda food you like......Le Cellier is always a great choice.....Tutto Italia sounds like a good place, and I like Rose & Crown.......but if you take a liking to any specific cuisine, go ahead and try that (I tried France, and learned I don't like French food haha)....I know I didn't make it any easier......but good luck!

I agree with the PP. Every restaurant gets good AND bad reviews. People have different tastes and what one person likes, another does not. I would not change your reservation based on reviews.
Also it is very late, you may find that you can not get another TS ADR in Epcot. Some places that are less popular and may be available last minute include the Biergarden and Restaurant Marrakesh. We enjoy both of these. Good luck

Not sure what kind of foods you or your mom likes but we are planning on spending 2 days at Epcot when we are there in March and I have ADRs for Rose and Crown one day and then Tepan Edo for the second day. Both of these restaurants we have never been to but I have always wanted to try the fish and chips at R&C and my DH loves the whole Japanese way of dining (making the food infront of you over a hot grill). We have gone to Coral Reef the last 2 times we were there and are just looking for some new ideas. Like the PP had said, with Epcot there are soooooo many choices to choose from and it can be overwhelming at times. Also, I too was thinking of going to GG but decided not to because we already have way too many character dinings for the week. If you really want to try it then I say go for it, I never take the advise of others, unless the whole thread says it is not worth it.

:wizard: EPCOT is a great place to be stuck in if you have to decide where to eat - there are so many good places! Go to the German buffet - great food, music - just lots of fun! But, as someone wrote - different strokes for different folks. I'm normally not a buffet guy but we do enjoy the German buffet. The selection is such that you can find something you really like.

I agree with the PPs that restaurants choices are different for everyone. Epcot has no shortage. I would check the menus located here and here and just see what you like.

I liked Garden Grill when I ate there but it was June of 2006 and it has changed. In Epcot I love Restaurant Marrakesh even though Kevin gave it a rather negative review. To be honest though going around the WS and getting something small from the CS’s at all the countries is probably my preferred dinning option in Epcot.

The majority of reviews are bad, but you all convinced me - I'll try it out and see what happens. Of course, if it's bad, I will be blaming each and every one of you! :rolleyes1

I love Teppan Edo and always make it a point to dine there.Even DS,9, likes it! I also learned the hard way that I don't care for French food but boy oh boy you can't beat their desserts!!!:worship: Yum!!! Being as you are 2 weeks out you may have to call and see what is available. I agree with PPs that say there are many interesting choices in the World Showcase alone. Good luck!

While some posters may say, "each restaurant has both good and bad reviews" there is no denying that there are many restaurants in Epcot that are far better than Garden Grill.

If you can get in, Le Celier is great. I just had my anniversary there in September. Tutto Italia, was very good also. I have not been to Nine Dragons since it reopened, but prior to their renovation we had a nice meal there. I'd also consider Teppen Edo and San Angel.

I'm not saying GG is bad, just that with all the great choices at Epcot, I'd pass on GG. Just my 2 cents.

I would choose from:

Tutto Italia
Tokyo Dining
Teppan Edo

hmmmm... looks like if it starts with a "T" it'll be good! hehehe

We really liked Tutto Italia - delicious food and great service.
Last year, Le Cellier was by far the best meal of our trip and so we rebooked for this year and were very, very disappointed. I don't know what was going on there that evening but the servers seemed all be running around in circles but not actually doing anything. There were a ton of empty tables and still the servers seemed lost. Our server was utterly clueless and was fairly rude. I had the cheese soup which was like a salt lick and the prime rib (had loved the maple filet which is now off the menu) which was disgusting. The roasted potatoes with it were hardly cooked. We will likely not eat there again.
A pleasant surprise was Biergarten - we loved the entertainment. DH loved the food (and the beer). It was heaven for our son with food allergies because he can eat any and all sausage and that's exactly what he did!

Personally I love Rose and Crown for a good Epcot experience. I highly recommend their bubble water and cheese plate!

Les Chefs de France offers a wonderful menu and an authentic French dining experience. From the flatbread appetizers to the crepes or braised shortribs, all of the food was fabulous. If you are feeling especially adventrous I would recommend the escargot.

in my opinion, the coral reef restaurant and other ones in future world aren't so great, but if you head to the world showcase almost all of the restaurants are great. you really can't go wrong in morocco, france, canada, etc.

I think you see more bad reviews because people will post more of those then the good ones. Just the nature of people.
I agree that you should look at menus and decide. I liked the Rose and Crown, but ate there after the marathon-probably would have eaten anything-Ha! I also did their counter service for lunch and liked the fish and chips. Remember much of the counter service uses the same kitchen as the restaurant-cheaper and less food.
I'm not a buffet person and cook german to boot, so not impressed with the food there.
Have fun.
Kathy

We always walk over to Spoodles for dinner on our Epcot day.
