Where should I book my Honeymoon?

Hey everyone!

So I'm planning ahead for my honeymoon. I'm a AP holder and a AAA member. I'm planning ahead because our honeymoon time at WDW will be from May 26-June 1, which is right there at memorial day.

Right now, I'm still waiting for a response from WDW guest relations regarding my last trip, so I'm not 100% positive whats going to happen with our honeymoon, but ideally it will go on as planned:

4 night Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas
Then 6 Nights at WDW...

Now I have two choices on rooms...I'd like your thoughts, prices listed at AAA rates:

King Bed POFQ for $1249

OR

WL Standard View for $1670

I know some have said that there are no King Beds on WL SV, but the CRO CM double checked and said they are available under standard view. Plus she said she put HONEYMOON all over the reservation, so she didn't think getting a King Bed would be a problem.

So I'm wondering what you all think. Which is the best option? Is it to much of a risk to request King bed at WL? Is it worth 70 more a night?

Thanks for your input!

Cheers,
Josh

For a honeymoon and only that much more, I would definitely be at WL. I find it to be a lot more romantic and the rooms are bigger. I also think that you feel more "secluded" at WL since there is more foliage as well as no entrance to the room on the outside. I also think if you are going to spend a lot of time in your room that the place is just a lot more relaxed in feel.

While the king rooms at POFQ are nice, I find the rooms at WL to be better in general. then again to me the difference between a queen bed and a king isn't enough to keep me out of a room (though a double would!)

ABSOLUTELY Wilderness Lodge!!!!!! It is beautiful.Ive stayed at POR many times and sure--its nice but not once in a lifetime honeymoon nice.I loved wilderness Lodge--king bed or not! I assume you can afford it because you asked but if it means anything--Disney is magical any place you stay.Congratulations.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the congrats! I'm pretty sure I can afford it...still trying to figure out bidgets for food etc....but I'm pretty sure I can save enough. Shouldn't be a problem really ::knock on wood!::

I just keep telling myself it is a once in a lifetime thing...so do it right, go big. It'll probably be the last time I get to do that for a while....so I'm hoping this is the right move.

Keeping my fingers crossed that a King Bed request will be met...and even more for an AP discount! :goodvibes

Would love to hear other opinions.

Cheers,
Josh

I would also vote for WL! It is a beautiful hotel and in my opinion even more special than the also nicely themed POFQ. It has a beach and walking paths through the woods to FW which might be nice for a romatic stroll in the evening. Also it has three hot tubs, two at the main pool and one at the quiet pool. You have two sit down restaurants at the resort, while POFQ has none. And you will have your own balcony or patio.

However, you need to be aware that standard view really is a nice name for "ugly view" in my opinion. You will either see the service area (which is supposed to be a bit noisy in the mornings) or rooftops. But then, if you have Honeymoon all over your reservation there might be some hope for pixie dust! pixiedust:

Definitely WL!! Those are my two favorite resorts. I will stay @ POFQ unless I can get a good deal @ WL. But this is you honeymoon, so stay there if you have the extra money. As to the view, we have stayed @ WL 4 times. I have always booked a standard room. I have always been upgraded (without asking) to a woods view room. So, hopefully since "HONEYMOON" is all over your reservation, you will be upgraded, also.

Happy Honeymooning!

sounds like the WL people are winning here! I'm definately leaning that way now since I got some infor from disney today (see last page of my trip report)

I now have a voucher for 1 free night at the polynesian, so I was thinking we may stay 5 nights at the WL then move to the Poly for our last night for free. If so, then I might switch to a woods view rate at the WL and go from there.

Thoughts on that?

Atlantis - in the Bahamas - ohhhh in Disney hahah - I would say WL as well!

we went to disney on our honeymoon (the same time as you, actually. our wedding was may 26th!) while we didn't stay at WL, we ran into the same thing with the king size bed at ALS. our AAA agent said she couldn't guarantee a king sized bed, but when we got there it was upgraded no problem at the resort. Good luck and happy planning!
