Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

:lmao: Okay, now I want to know the story!
:rotfl: Twist my arm. :rotfl:
We have a pretty diverse population who come and use our waterpark facility. Well, one slow weekend we had an Indian family. The father had this intricate turban on and it being a slow weekend, I had time to let my mind wander since I was not busy dealing with the crisis of the hour.

My mind wanders to the turban. Did he just take it off at night and set it on a stand or did he really "roll" it on to his head each morning? With some time on my hands, I turned to the internet to investigate this further. I found out they can done either way- every morning or set kind of like hair I guess. You do it in the morning or you wear a wig and take it off and set it on a head at night.

I found a you tube video of a turban and watched. Interesting. I tried to get a closer look at this guy's turban to see if I could tell if it seemed tight like he did that every morning or if kinds of a prefab that he just out on and took off intact. Below are 2 videos I found. I think the second one is the one I watched, it seems close to what I remember.

Now of course I had to share this with staff. I found it so interesting. Rest of the staff, not so much.:rotfl2:

A couple of months later, we attended my niece's wedding. The chairs at the reception had a very nice decorative fabric ties. After a while, those ties came off the chairs. My SIL's brother, who is the comic of both families started playing with them. I, of course, with my newly acquired knowledge of turban rolling, had a customer.
Here is the result.

Not too bad for a beginner who probably was impaired to say the least.:lmao:
Aren't you glad you asked? Connor can have one for Halloween or really anytime he needs to channel.:rotfl2:

Can you believe it??? I about fell out of my seat. He even said, "You need to book so we can make our dining reservations at six months out." I guess you just don't mess around with Charles' Disney food. :rotfl:

You found the key- Disney FOOD. I may have a shot if I can get my DH to experience a cool, non crowded F & W. :rolleyes1 I will have to check out my conference dates for next year and Columbus day. I know that weekend will be crowded but he goes to my SIL house for a game get together so maybe after or before. :rolleyes1

Love the update....especially Chelsea's "Before" face shall we call it?!?!?! ;) Hope you have a great weekend!!!! :)

Chelsea did a great job with her animal pictures.

Africa always seems so crowded. I hope it thinned out. Of course I love all your detail pictures. So many thinks I need to looks for next trip.

Jackie, I love that Connor is appreciative of you and your work. What a great weekend.

I was so tickled that he had so much fun and thanked me!

So, Charles will be on the Dis soon, huh? 6 months planning...

:rotfl: I don't know if he is quite at that point yet.

Do I see the Boardwalk in your future?

Deb

Hopefully one day! I love all the pictures of the place!

PS Riding it once in 2007 does count!!:wizard:

I had hoped so!

Looks like Connor's party was a huge success...great job on the planning!

Thanks! He had a lot of fun!

Ok...his fortune telling video had me cracking up! WOW does he get into his roles!

He loves any excuse to act! LOL!

HOLY CROWDS at AK!!! Hope it lightened up since the party was getting started!

They did, actually! Thank goodness! I don't do well in crowds!

YAY...The safari is always fun!

We love it! I already have the pictures resized and ready to go!

Another successful update!!! I can't wait to see more about your night at the Taste of Africa!!

We had a lot of fun! I took so many pictures that night!

LOL Chelsea's picture while waiting for the bus...loved it!! TOO cute!!! I just adore her and Connor together at Disney, simply adorable!!

Thanks! Sometimes she gets tired of me whipping out the camera.

OOOh Chelsea took some really cute animal pics!!

We spent quite a long time animal watching at the Oasis.

I now have the Beach Boys song from "Cocktails" in my head. ARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

It was stuck in my head the entire week!

Ahhhh....the look of teenage angst! I've seen that look a few times myself! LOL That was nice of the other family to take a picture of all 3 of you.

Yes, it was. :goodvibes

:scared1: at that crowd!!!

My heart literally sank to my feet when I saw it!

The Oasis looks very nice. I'm hoping to explore it some on Thanksgiving Day.

There are lots of neat animals that we don't normally see there.

Twist my arm. :rotfl:

Too funny and very interesting! I have never thought about whether turbans came "prewrapped" or not.

:lmao: Love the pictures of the wedding turbans! You did a great job on your first attempts. Now, I can help Connor practice wrapping a turban for his various fortune telling gigs! :rotfl:

I think Food and Wine was the deal maker for Charles -- he has been much more pro-Disney since our trip last year.

Love the update....especially Chelsea's "Before" face shall we call it?!?!?! ;) Hope you have a great weekend!!!! :)

It's so Chelsea! :lmao: Hope you have a great weekend, too!

Chelsea did a great job with her animal pictures.

She took a lot of them, but I picked a few to share!

Africa always seems so crowded. I hope it thinned out. Of course I love all your detail pictures. So many thinks I need to looks for next trip.

Thankfully it did thin out -- I would not have been happy had it stayed that way the entire evening.

Hidden tapir?

That sounds right -- I could not remember what the sign said when I was doing this update.

I love any and all pictures of Animal Kingdom, and when you throw in your sweet kids, the combination makes for bringing a smile to the start of my day. :)

Ah, thank you! I took so many pictures in Animal Kingdom that day and evening -- I was looking through them, and I think I have enough for four more updates!

Soooooooooooooo, Charles has officially been converted, eh? I've been wondering about your next trip!

That crowd would have freaked me out!! :scared1:

I'm not sure if I would have turned tail and run or not if I would have met that crowd!

So glad you stayed, we sure had fun but there was hardly anyone there when we were there, but I think it was like opening day because there were Disney big shots there looking around....

Well so what if you have four updates worth of photos to share??!! GOOD! Let's see them!!! :yay:

I bet that Taste of Africa was really cool! I love all your Africa photos! Great fun to have TWO photographers in the family!!!
:thumbsup2

Griffin has a little point and shoot camera, too, and he takes some pretty good pics! Fun to see what strikes their fancy.

Looking forward to more!!!

When we stayed at CBR in 2009(?) my dear, sweet hubby kept singing, Aruba, Jamaica...Every day. For 6 days. It will be none too soon if I NEVER hear that song again!!!:laughing:I think it must just come with the resort. I'm surprised they don't have it playing as you walk around! Maybe they don't need to. We're all singing it in our heads!

Love the AK pictures! I HAVE to get back there next trip! It's been a while and missed it the last two trips.

Fortune telling must be contagious. My DD9, who has not seen this TR, started with a rubber sparkly ball and a scarf the other day - "Mom, want me to tell your fortune with my crystal ball?" Oh boy!!

It looks like Connor had a really great Birthday Weekend! 3 days of celebrating. Nice!

This was the scene we were greeted with upon crossing the bridge!

I hoped this was the mass exodus after the parade that I have read about and tried not to let it daunt me.

That crowd would have scared me! I can’t wait to read more…and I wouldn’t object to four posts worth of pictures either :thumbsup2

Looks like Connor had a wonderful birthday weekend. Sometimes I wish I was still a kid!

The Oasis is so beautiful. I love spending a little time there, but usually do it on the way out.
I've never seen that many people in AK :scared1:

I'm glad you took the time to wander through the Oasis! And I have to agree with the others... that crowd would have scared me away! :scared1:

That was a big crowd at Harambe! When we were there, there were maybe 4 other people.

:rotfl: Twist my arm.

I want a turban like poonjab in Annie. One that I can unwind and tie to my autocopter to save any orphans in distress at a moment's notice. :upsidedow

Too funny and very interesting! I have never thought about whether turbans came "prewrapped" or not.

I tell you, when my mind wanders... look out and thank goodness for the internet to answer my random musings.
I spent part of day looking for details on the movie " The Dream Team" yesterday because a thought popped in my head. My staff knows to come ask me anything because I will look it up. Somedays I am too curious.

:lmao: Love the pictures of the wedding turbans! You did a great job on your first attempts. Now, I can help Connor practice wrapping a turban for his various fortune telling gigs! :rotfl:
It was not hard to do. He can help by prediciting your next trip and then depending on how business is  he can then help pay for the next trip. :lmao:

I think Food and Wine was the deal maker for Charles -- he has been much more pro-Disney since our trip last year.

Now that you have made that discovery - Food but avoid crowds, you have a willing participant. Congrats. Well done. :thumbsup2

I am going to try the Food and Wine approach, maybe next year as an anniversary trip. I will try for an Adults only trip and see if he can enjoy teh magic.

I see the commentary about Charles wanting a trip next year!!! Have you shown him the wonders of the online ADR system? It's so fun to play with!

Great updates at AK!! Connor's party also looked fun! Yay for Charles asking about the next trip!!

Hope those crowds were leaving! I love the pic of Connor with the cannon! He's quite the ham, even though he looks pretty quiet. ;)
