hi

we are going to back to dlp after 5 years of wdw we are staying at the hotel new york and have booked the half board package. Please could we have some reccomendations for eating, also where to avoid. Another question, I hope to go to Paris one evening is it fairly easy to get the train? My plan is to use the emh then go and have a late breakfast mind you just have to persuade the family that thats a good idea just wondering if this is a good idea or will there be no breakfast left!!

I've not had a bad meal yet at DLRP fingers crossed ;)

My favourite non-character restaurants are Walt's on Main Street and the Blue Lagoon in Adventureland.

My favourite character meals are the Steakhouse Sunday Brunch (only on Sunday ;) ) and Inventions at the DLH. We've also had fabulous character meals at the Lucky Nugget and Cafe Mickey.

It's ever so easy to get the RER train into Paris ~ it takes about 40 minutes.

Agree We've never had a bad meal.
We also love Walts, Blue Lagoon, Anettes in the Village, Inventions and Lucky Nugget.

The train is really easy to use. Read my latest trippie part 3a and part 6 (not yet posted) for info about our trips into Paris

New York Sandwiches. NASTY. Trust me. I am in New York City very often, and have never encountered the soggy mess there that they serve in this place. Sandwiches from the train station are better than this place (and I was stupid enough to eat here twice over the years :rotfl2: )

My sister actually emailed me once asking if I was sick of croissants and if I was craving a bagel; no bagels in this place. Just a lot of badly prepared food...

As to the train it is 40 minutes to Auber (near the department stores) and just one stop further to CDG Etoile

Places that we would not be in a hurry to go back to are King Ludwigs Castle and Innventions Restaurant.
But others will rave about these as being their favourites.

Annette's Diner is on our list for every visit we do, yet I bet I could find at least one person who doesn't rate it.

Thankfully there is a variety of choices... enough to satisfy us all :goodvibes

I haven't had a bad meal at DLP (ok, that's not completely true, the tomato soup at chalet de la marionette was just lukewarm coloured water. No taste, but at least it didn't have a bad taste either!)

One poster commented on the "New York sandwich" place. I have had one sandwich from there, don't remember it very well, but anyway. I don't think it's supposed to "recreate" New York sandwiches, I think they just wanted a "cool" name for the place.

Btw, my favourites are Manhattan and Walt's, and each time we eat at Cape Cod.

We loved the silver spur firsr time round but this trip we were unimpressed with it,it wasn`t terrible but we won`t be going back either.
Can`t fault Annettes though -always a good feast there

True! Oddly enough, one of my favourite places to eat in Manhattan (the real Manhattan) is a chain called 'Europa Cafe'. They have a large selection of panini sandwiches and baguette sandwiches - far better than this place in Disneyland Paris!

Europa Cafe in New York = yummy
New York Sandwiches in Europa = not yummy

;)

DW and I like our sandwiches dry -- no mayonnaise or mustard, etc. On our visit to Paris in 2005 we found that a very difficult concept to communicate -- except at the New York sandwich place, which got it correct on the first try. For that reason alone we kind of like the place. I can't say that the sandwich itself was particularly memorable, but that means it was neither very good nor very bad.

One place we loved was the Aberge d'Cendrillon (?), at the castle. However, since our visit there they have changed it to a character meal and -- with the lousy exchange rate with the $ -- the price would be more than doubled for us! :scared1: So we won't be doing that again for our upcoming trip next month.

On mine and Disneyfoo's visit (Christmas '06) we were appauled by the lousy seating at King Ludwig's. There were ourselves, and a French couple waiting to be seated, and all they did was split up a 4-table into 2 and expect us to sit there! It was terrible! Needless to say we didn't order anything and left, we ate at the sports bar that night - plenty of seating, and a very tasty sandwich and chips at half the price!

Also, a salad I had from one of the places on Main Street was very sad looking last June, the lettuce was off, the tuna wasn't that great and it was generally a bit rubbish! They gave us the money back after we complained, though, and sorted out the other salads while we were there. The place that did it was the place that does the amazing Croque Monsieurs!

Thankfully they're the only bad eating experiences I've ever had, and I've been going most of my life!

In my haste I forgot to recommend!

The hotel restaurant in Newport Bay is lovely, as is Walt's, Casey's Corner and the place on Main Street above. Also, if it's open, there's an awesome little Mexican place near Thunder Mountain!

Wasn't impressed with Pizza Planet either, even trying to bear in mind that it's a fast food restaurant, it wasn't good and DS was upset that they didn't have a milkshake machine, where the milkshake comes out of Little Green Men's mouths, apparently it does in the film, I obviously missed that bit. yeuch

I never saw that happen in the film, I will have to watch it again to find out:rotfl:

.

How much cost the brunch at the Steakhouse?

The blue lagoon, has got to be on top of my list, simply becuase of the brilliant service and meal!:goodvibes. Least favourite would be cape cod, becuase i thought it was a bit expensive for what it was.

Can you imagine I don't even know where Pizza Planet is? Where is it??
