Where is your dog's "den"

We just moved a few weeks ago, and this is my dog Missy's first two story home. At first she did NOT like going up and down the stairs, not one little bit. She also seemed to not like being on the 2nd floor at all, she was always trying to get me to go back DOWN stairs.

Well, now she is settled in and the stairs don't bother her anymore. And apparently neither does being on the 2nd floor, because her "spot" is now the 2nd floor bathroom. Yes, you read that right, BATHroom, not bedroom. And it's not because of the tile, either, because 1) she sleeps on the bath mat and 2) we have hard wood floors in 90% of the house, and tile in the downstairs bath and the kitchen. I guess she decided that that was where her den should be.

So, anyone have a dog that picks an odd place as their "spot" or "den"?

When she's not under my feet, the bathTUB! She's a big dog, too, so it's not even like she can stretch out in there.

We have three little Chihuahuas that all share a big bed downstairs (heated in the winter :rolleyes2) that we literally have to drag them out of sometimes; but our only male dog, Baxter, has started sleeping under our living room ottoman. I think he goes there to get away from all the crabbing that our two females do at each other. :)

When my Golden does not have the overwhelming desire to be as closely as it is physically possible to me he chooses his spot VERY carefully. Although he does prefer the bed between DH and I at times he does have desires to fulfill his sleeping needs in other more unorthodox locations. The other night it was at the foot of the stairs preventing any one from gaining access to the bedrooms by tripping over the dog. The night before that it was at far end of a hall that contains 2 spare rooms neither of them being used right now. Before that it was at the base of the bathtub in the guest room insuring plenty of hair in there for our guests.

But the way I see it he can sleep wherever his heart desires as long as he is comfortable, just a warning to my would be guests WALK CAREFULLY you never know where the dog may lay.

Namath likes to sleep on the back of the couch in the den, not on the couch seats, but on the back. I think he does that so he can look down on me. :pug:

The whole house...they just allow us to sleep there. :paw:

That's pretty much the way it is with my :pug: . Although we do have a bed we bought for her last Christmas in the corner of the living room and her blanket (my old twin comforter I got when I was 15!!) under a desk also on the first floor.

It's has stormed a lot here recently and her new favorite place to hide is the basement. She's decided she likes to hide behind our little shower unit. :confused3

Mine think the entire house is their den =) They do like to sleep on the wood entry way floor more than anything, but you will catch them on the back of the couch, curled up on a pillow, on a dog bed, in the crate, kitchen floor, etc. They arent picky, as long as it's a place we're at. They won't leave the room we're in.

My younger dog likes to stay in under the knee hole in our roll top desk. And she will growl if you try to sit there.

The older dog prefers to be near me so lays in the high traffic corner of the kitchen while I am working in there.

Behind my DH's recliner in the den. It's sort of kitty-cornered into the room, so he's protected on 3 sides.

Mine has claimed the computer room as his. His crate is in here and he loves being in there. Of course he has a bed out in the living room if he ever feels the need to join us.

Most anywhere, but usually wherever is most inconvenient  like the middle of the hallway or in the doorway or the kitchen floor while Im cooking dinner.

Shes a golden too so it isnt like you can just step over her.

Must be a pug thing. We find Ziggy there all the time. But if we have say an article of clothing that has fallen off a chair, thats his place- all curled up in like 2ft of fabric.

Tucker usually sleeps in the bathroom due to the lenolium (sp?) floor. It must be cool to him. If it is cold out, he sleeps under the bed on my side. You can hear him digging his nails into the carpet to get in and digging his nails into the carpet to get out. But he loves it under there. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Our golden puppy likes to be under things--the bed, the end table, behind the couch. I think she's going to be in for a rude awakening when she starts getting too big to fit in these places. :teeth:

Even though we haven't really crated her since she's been potty trained, if we can't find her, she's usually in there--she seems to like it in her little house.

Def a pug thing!! Dyna has been known to curl up on a sock that fell out of a pile being taken down to the laundry area. :teeth:

Mojo :dog: also is a fan of the roll top desk well. He goes under there when feeling insecure. Otherwise, he has several favorite spots depending on the weather. For some reason, he gave up on his dog bed a few years ago and will have nothing to do with it. :confused3

Our Lab sleeps all over during the day, but at night he retreats to his crate/cage we used when he was young. The door is always open and there is the floor is hard plastic, but I'm sure he feels safe there will all his sides covered except facing out. It's like wolves/wild dogs dens. The dog/wolf will sleep with his back to a wall of the den so he doesn't have to worry about an attack from that side.

During the day my Schnauzer curls up under the coffee table in the den. During the night, right next to my bed. I have to make sure I don't step on him if I get up!

Murphy's only spot is wherever he can be touching or annoying either my DH or myself. If we do manage to get him off of us, he usually lies on the sofa or chair so that he can at least see us.

At night, we try to keep him at our feet, but he usually weasels himself up in between us by morning. When we are away, he usually sleeps on our front couch so he can see out the window for when we come home.
