Where is WalMart?

Hi all! I was hoping to make a quick trip to WalMart before we arrive at Disney. We are flying into Sanford and have a rental car so I thought I could either stop at a 24 hour SuperCenter on my way to our hotel Friday night or I could get up Saturday morning and make a quick stop before we check in to AoA?

Can anyone tell me if there is a WalMart super close to WDW? Or is it quite a hike?

Thanks

Why not just google "Walmart Orlando Florida" and then you can pick which one you want to go to.

Thanks - lol
I just am not sure of where anything is and all the roads and stuff so I didn't know if someone might have been to Walmart there and know of one that is closest to WDW -
I got one I think is close on Turkey Lake Road - I just am not sure - even with Map Quest if that is a good idea or if it is way off the beaten path from WDW.....

Someone mentioned something called the garden grocer that will deliver to resort so you don't need to rush to wal mart but ere are loads around

Did you ask Mapquest for directions from AoA or the airport? Depends on where you are coming from which one is closest. So I don't know how someone else can figure that out if you don't know? :confused3

If you are driving from the airport to WDW, you know the way, right? Just check your route and see which Walmart is closest.

The closest Walmart is on Apopka Vineland avenue.... Its maybe 10 minutes from downtown disney...:cool1:

I started an order on there and then it just seemed so expensive...plus add the delivery charge and I thought it might be easier to just go to Walmart :)

Thanks! That was perfect! I had already looked and thought the Turkey Lake one might be the best on our route from the airport - but it can get confusing when you don't really know the roads and the ins and outs - for example - if you put in the closest walmart to where I live it gives you 4 and they all look like they are about the same distance away BUT when you actually drive to each of them it is MUCH different - I am in NY and it shows that there are three in NY that are close to where I live but actually - the one in VT is closest...but you can't really see that by looking at mapquest....

I am coming from the airport to AoA and I asked Mapquest for a Walmart search on my route - it showed me quite a few but I didn't know which ones are really right on my route and which ones might actually be several miles off the route - I was just trying to figure that one out....
I thought maybe someone that had been and had traveled to a Walmart store - or that was familiar with the area - might have a better idea than me taking a guess based on mapquest :)

There is also a Walmart on Rt. 192 West (about 10 minutes away from Animal Kingdom Lodge area). Also one on Rt. 535 headed south from Downtown Disney (about 10 minutes away).

THIS.

The one above mentioned on State Rt. 535(Vineland Road) is the closest one to property. It is 24 hrs and has a Hess gas station (usually close to average gas price and the cheapest diesel in the whole area) located I front of it. Only problem is that it can be really crowded at times seeing that it is the closest one to property.

There is another one 192west(Vine Ave, West Irlo Blossom Memorial Hwy) [as stated above] that isn't as busy but after you factor in traffic it's about 20 mins+ from where you will be starting. There is a Chick Fil A in the parking lot to help you find it(it's far back off the road).

As for the one on Turkey Lake Rd. It would be between you and the airport if y'all take I-4 from the airport to the park. Turkey lake runs parallel to I-4, unfortunately I can't remember what exit you would have to take. This is the newest walmart of the three unfortunately I can't speak for it for I haven't actually been inside the store it self yet.

All of these walmarts are 24hrs.

WOW!~ Awesome - great info! Thanks so much! It is hard for me to visualize stuff from these maps so this is really helpful - I think I will just go to the busy one because it is closest and then i don't have to worry about stopping when we get off the plane but can go before we check in the next morning!

The simplest way to get to the close-in Walmart is to take 417 down from Sanford, then exit at Osceola Pkwy. Instead of turning right toward WDW, turn left onto Osceola. (This is a toll route, but not expensive, and the time and traffic hassle you will save vs. driving on I-4/535 is worth it, IMO. It's not the shortest route, but IME it takes less time because of lack of traffic.)

Exit off Osceola at Poinciana, then hang a left under Osceola. The Walmart will be immediately on your left once you clear the overpass.

To go to WDW from there, get back on Osceola from Poinciana, reversing how you came in. Keep going on Osceola until you hit WDW property, and then follow the signs to your resort.

I have been to the one on Turkey Lake Rd. a few times. Its easy to get to and easy to get into and out of. It the closest one to SSR. Turkey Lake Rd becomes Palm Parkway. When you head south and come the to intersection of 535. Turn left and Hotel Plaza Blvdw will be on your right. Turn right and it takes you down in front of DTD.
