I saw this mentioned in another post. Just curious where it is at MGM, and where does it empty out at Epcot? Will they allow you to walk both ways - Epcot to MGM, as well?

The only walkway that I am aware of is the one that goes through Boardwalk. If you are leaving Disney Studios, go out like you are going to the boat docks but walk to the right around the lake then follow the around the lake to a wide sidewalk that would be on the other side of the lake from the boat docks. This walkway will take you to the Epcot resorts. From there you can walk to Epcot and enter through the International Gateway. It is a fairly long walk, but depending on how fast you walk you can beat the boats because of the stops that they make and you can definately beat the boats if there is a long line at the docks and you would have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd boat. This works well if you want to see Fantasmic then Reflections of Earth.

The only thing I can think of is there is a walkway from MGM that goes onto the boardwalk, so you would walk that, go past the Y&B Club and then into the International gateway into Epcot.

I would think that would be a LOONG walk, and would take the boat that leaves MGM and goes to a few resorts and then onto Epcot if it were me.

Hope this is what you were thinking....

The walkway goes from the International Gateway (out the back of Epcot by France) past the Beach Club, Yacht Club and Swan/Dolphin or go the Boardwalk side over to the boat dock by MGM. If you are unfamiliar with the boat dock at MGM, go out MGM and stay to the far left as you exit (pretty much parellel to the tram loading area).

You can also take the friendship boats between these two parks. That is the what the walkway runs along.

Hope this made some sense
Sandy

LOL judging by the time on all three of our responses, I think we were all writing at the same time...hope these helped!

Thanks to all!! I had seen it mentioned in a post regarding seeing Fantasmic and Illuminations the same night. That's not what I'm attempting - kids are too young for that much stimulation in one night!! :) But we are planning to parkhop one day from MGM to Epcot and thought it might be easier than trying to catch a bus. So, the boat though will accomplish the same thing, I'm assuming. The kids would probably enjoy that more.

I don't know the ages of your kids, but Yes I would say go with the boat, it is a nice relaxing ride and that walk could be a long one, especially with little legs (if they are younger)

It's probably a 30-35 minute walk. Maybe longer w/children.

I would definetly go for the boat, otherwise, you are walking to than walk in the parks. The boat is a nice break. The only way I woud walk is if you are leaving Epcot to check out BW or BC (food or entertainment). It is about a 2-3 minute walk once outside Ecpot.

Enjoy

The boat ride takes about 25 minutes from MGM dock until you dock at the International Gateway.

Ditto....I would feel the need to have a break between parks.
The walk to the boardwalk from Epcot it no problem though, I always just walk it if im going that way.

I walk from EPCOT to MGM Studios all the time. Sometimes I walk only from the Boardwalk to MGM Studios, or EPCOT (if not going to both parks in the same day).

It is an easy walk with good surface. Walking with children should be no problem. I see many folks doing that. It is much easier to let children stroll at their own pace (and enjoy a bunny rabbit sighting or two) than it is to keep them happy on a slow moving boat.

I agree, NOT a bad walk at all. As much walking as you will be doing anyway, a little extra won't hurt.

Boats are a nice option also, however.

As we stayed at the BCV's last trip we regularly walked from MGM to Epcot and it took us about 20 minutes each time which is quicker than the boat. However on hot days the boat ride was a nice relaxing was to have a rest. We usually looked at the length of the que for the boat and then decided to walk or not. We don't have kids though so with kids the walk will probably take longer.
