...with a large family (DS 6, DD 4 DS 2, DD 2) that is close to the park but will allow us to be in the same room? I know that there are several places that will accommodate us, but none of them are near the gates. Getting another room will be an option in upcoming years, but they are MUCH too young to have in their own room and I am not prepared to sleep in a different room than Lillybelly on myone vacation of the year. Any ideas?

Look at a mini-suite at the BWPPI. The BWPPI is THE closest hotel to the DLR gates aside from the GCH. The mini-suites have two queen beds and a fold-out queen. Plus they have a mini-fridge and microwave.

Rooms are clean and relatively quiet. We have stayed there three times with four children. :)

Try Desert Inn and Suites, they have a suite that would accommodate your family and they have a continental breakfast every morning included in your stay. It is also RIGHT across the street from the entrance so you would have a VERY short walk.

I 2nd Desert Inn & Suites. It's a minute walk to the crosswalk, they have continental breakfast, they have 2 bdrm suites (4 queens, 2 bath) for $129!!! Totally worth it in my book!

A bit farther away is the RI Maingate, hot breakfast, full kitchen, ART, Nice Penthouse suite, free grocery shopping. Just a thought.

I'll third the Dessert Inn & Suites. We have 6 kids and have stayed here our last 3 trips. We were there in September and got our room with 4 queen beds for $89 a night. Can't beat the distance either. :)

BWPPI I am going to 2nd and the Desert Inn and Suites. You hear those 2 being mentioned some what often on these boards for just that reason. If I were in your position I would totally go with those options and try one.

To be in the same room you'll for sure need a suite. I agree with BWPPI and Desert Inn and Suites are probably your best options.

They also have some large suites at the Carousel Inn and Suites across the street. One even has a view of DL.

We just got back from a stay at the Camelot Inn and Suites (not to be confused with the Castle inn - yuck). It is just 2-3 hotels down from the BWPPI that people have also talked about. The walk is so short. They have regular rooms and suites. They have refrigerators in the room and there is a mini mart a few steps away at the Tropicana if you want to buy milk (bring your own cereal and bowls/spoons). Or just have their free continental breakfast (wasn't that great). Anyways, everything was clean and great and we loved that it was so close. My brothers had stayed at the BWPPI and they thought the rooms at the Camelot were a bit nicer. But either is a great choice because they are so close and convenient! We booked a package deal thru getawaytoday and it all worked out great.

Carousel Inn have both 2 bedroom view suites with kitchen and cheaper non view suites.

while researching found that the Park Vue has rooms (suites) that have 2 beds & a sofa bed (with fake fireplace & plasma tv); assume they'd sleep 6.
