Where is the Best ice cream around Disney??? Please.

Thank you all for all your advice....We do love dole whips, probably our favorite at Disney as far as sweets go. And we are very excited to try Joe's Ice and Farrells, that was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!

Are you kidding me? Pineapple Dole Whips at the Tiki Room.

But that's not ice cream at all. It's "soft serve" with pineapple crystals and sodium caseinate and corn syrup solids and color and a few other things... Doesn't count.

I'd stick with Haagen Dasz. Many of their flavors are incredibly simple, like real ice cream you'd make at home from scratch, not just lists of chemicals.

I remember Farrells from my childhood...we never went there for the *taste* of the ice cream...

It counts if I say it counts. Sherbet isn't ice cream either, but it's sold in the ice cream case at the grocery store.

Hope your family enjoys those places. If you really don't mind going offsite, then see if you can swing by the city of Alhambra to visit Fosselmanns. They are super awesome. Cash only, though.

Here are some recent pictures of the newly remodeled Gibson Girl Creamery:

I am so happy it is complete and opened for our trip in a few weeks!

I am not really a fan of the dole whip (not into that immitation non-dairy stuff they put in the machine) or mickey ice cream bars (you could break a tooth on those things! They freeze them so hard that even on the hottest of days they are very difficult to eat)--but I do love just regular, old fashioned ice cream.

I mostly like the waffle cones at Gibson Girl, but my daughter had a sundae make with home made chocolate chip cookies that was so good! I forget what it was called.

That.

And don't forget the beloved Mickey Ice Cream Bars!! Yummo!!! I can't figure out why these are sooo darn good, but they are perfect on a nice hot summer day! I can't wait to try the sundaes at Ghirardelli's!
They're sooo good! DH tought it was insane to pay 4.25 for an ice cream bar, but the kids & I love them! So they were a must one for every day :wizard:
They always recommend to let them thaw for a few minutes, after that they're not hard, they're just delicious!

Gibson Girl is a must for us every trip. I use to avoid it due to the line as well, and then one day decided to just stick it out. It was so worth it!

Now that it is remodeled and just re-opening, it will be even better. They fixed the line issue I hear by remodeling the line area and staffing it with more cash registers.

The is nothing like a mint chip ice cream in a choclate dipped waffle cone on a warm summer night. Add in some fireworks and 2 goofy daughters, and you have a recipe for pure happiness right there.:goodvibes
From all the above, that was DH favorite, couldn't get enough of his mint chip ice cream! We took them to see Sounsational Parade, but for me it was a Rootbeer float, gotta love'em!

We are adding Hollywood to our travels and trying the Disney soda shop by El Captain too....Thanks for all the links and updates. I am thinking that this last 20 pounds I lost may come back and find me....:confused3 Just hoping it stays lost or finds a new home, far away from mine.:rolleyes1
