I will be on one of the upcoming Southern Caribbean cruises and have requested Sammy for MDR server. I Made is not working with Sammy at this time, however, you are able to request either for your upcoming cruise. You may request one of them as your primary preference, and indicate you would accept the other, if the primary is not available.

Please send me a PM with your name(s) and exact upcoming cruise date (as well as when you last sailed with them). When I see I Made and Sammy, I will let them know you will be on the Magic soon. If you would like to include a picture of yourself in the PM, I will print your picture and provide to them (to help remember you).

We paid cash tips and so, I do not have his last name as I had to surrender the slip with the full names on them.

Did you pay cash to Guest Services, or pay cash directly to your servers? If you paid Guest Services, you should have been able to make a payment directly to your ship board account instead of physically paying gratuities with cash. Making a payment to your account has the same end result as paying gratuities with cash. No matter, you should have been given a receipt (though I realize it may not have listed the names). I am not sure why they would have asked you to surrender your slip of paper with names.

For those who wish to prepay gratuities (to keep their credit card expenses low while on vacation), I suggest they make a prepayment to their stateroom account (similar to a gift card), instead of applying the prepayment as a gratuity. The prepayment can be made at almost any time, but ideally should be made at least 30 days prior to your cruise, so you have the ability to pay down the credit card balance prior to the cruise.

When we receive superior service, we leave the requested gratuity on our stateroom account, then give additional cash to the cast members. There are some who change the gratuity to $0, then give all cash gratuities. However, by changing the gratuity to $0 (or any lesser amount), DCL does not know whether the guest is happy or unhappy with their cast members (they also do not know whether the guest is providing an additional cash gratuity directly to the cast member).

Would luv to know if head waiter/server Amet and his assistant Ben (from the Phillipines) are still on The Fantasy.

We cruised on The Fantasy 26 April 2014 Western Carribean and had Amet and Ben for breakfast and dinner and just luved them.

We are organizing another cruise on The Fantasy and would luv to have them again. I know Amet was going home for 8 weeks at the end of May 2014 and then returning.

Has anyone cruised on The Fantasy recently and come across them on rotational dining?

We were on the last Alaska sailing for this year. We had some AMAZING servers on the Wonder!
Marvin (server), Marianna (asst. server), and Engelbert (head server) were ALL AMAZING! I hope I see them again. I told them to transfer to the Fantasy so I can see the next year on our western Caribbean
Eduardo (from Honduras) and Charmaine (from Jamaica) were my favorite people to talk to every morning in Cove Cafe. They were wonderful!
And finally, Pablo (from Honduras) was my favorite bar tender! He made me a fabulous "Gin Garden" and did our mixology class. He sang me songs and had me laughing constantly!
I hope at least one of them ends up on the fantasy with us next year!

I am so excited to see Joyce from Canada (merchandise) on the wonder again! I met her on an Alaskan sailing and she said she was going on vacation and that her first cruise back on contract is the EBPC, and I'm cruising on October 1st she is so amazing I cannot even begin to explain!!

This is an awesome thread! Subbing so I can check out servers for our Jan 2015 cruise on Fantasy. Thanks to everyone for posting!

We had Toto and Val. I cannot recommend Val highly enough. Toto is great, too. We asked for him due to this thread, but Val was the highlight of our trip. My kids love her to pieces (and their parents did, too!)

Also, for stateroom attendants, we really loved JR from the Philippines. He was kind, friendly and incredibly attentive. Such a delight to see him every day with a big infectious smile. He remembered all three of my kiddos' names and called the DDs "Princess ______" every time he saw them.

2014 WBPC cruise. He was awesome & so was Roberto, his assistant.

Neno Jeckic (Croatia) was promoted from Head Server to Restaurant Manager, and is currently on the Disney Magic.

If you like to bring trinkets or treats for your cast members, Neno LOVES "Milka" white chocolate (Europe), as well as Reese's White Chocolate peanut putter cups.

Sompong "Sammy" Poonchuroensuk (Thailand) is currently on the Magic (MDR Server) with Assistant Server - Klaudia Fojcik (Poland).

Sammy has been on the Magic for 13+ years ... he's phenomenal!

Klaudia has been an assistant server for 3+ years. In addition to her duties as an assistant server, Klaudia trains DCL Assistant Servers on the nuances of how to be a good Assistant Server. Friends who have ordered the DCL wine package have commented on how much they like her attentiveness when it comes to the wine.

Klaudia will be on vacation, starting in January.
