This may be a silly question, but I've never been completely sure of the answer - are there only certain resorts you can now buy directly? Are the older ones off the market?

Disney usually has select resorts that they are "actively" selling. Currently those are AKV, BLT and Aulani - BUT - buyers interested in other resorts can always let their DVC Guide know of interest in other resorts. DVC does not always have an inventory of all Use Years (or even all resorts), but that can change regularly due to ROFR and foreclosure.

At this time, they are running low on resorts to sell until GFV comes online in about another year. If you have interest in a resort not mentioned in a sales tour, be sure to ask your guide. You may find that you'll need to be insistent since they will typically push one of the resorts they are "actively" selling.

No, you can buy all the DVC resorts directly from Disney...usually, no incentives are available for sold-out resorts, and sometimes you have to wait for points to come available (I bought 3 BCV add-on's, each for 50 points, and was on the wait list for the points (for 2-3 weeks) 2 of the 3 times...

Some guides will try to sell you the resorts that are in active sales--but mine was terrific about just getting me my BCV points when I asked for them...

Good luck!

That's good to know as BWV would be our preferred choice. Still a long way off affording to purchase at the moment, but like to be able to plan for the future!

You cannot buy all the resorts from Disney directly.

SSR is current members or referred by members only.
I'm not sure about other resorts, but if they are restricted a referral if usually enough to open the door.

How does a referral work?

I recall you said this in another thread and I think I commented that I didn't agree - can't remember what I said - where are you getting this information, because I have not heard that to be true.

I think, as stated above, some resorts are not so readily available, depending on resort & use year and Disney's inventory, but I have not heard what you are saying about referrals only.

And to the PP - you just get a current members name and info for a referral - no soliciting or offering on the boards here is permitted - and you may get an additional incentive for your purchase (or you may not - just depends on what the current offers are) and the member gets a bonus (gift card, dues credit) for referring you.

Thanks Vicki, is it okay if my referrer has a different home resort to what I'd like?

SSR is from Disney.

I have been helping some people purchase direct and resale recently so I have been asking a lot of questions. SSR isn't that hard to get into but you can't buy it coming off the street without a referral.

Just call your guide and ask.

again, this is not true.

guides may have incentives built into their compensation package that encourage them to sell the newer resorts like aulani, but if you push for SSR and only SSR, they will be willing to deal...

This is totally not true. I asked my salesperson about SSR and he said there were no referrals needed, it's just like any other sold out resort. It doesn't even make sense that they would treat it any differently.

So if it's sold out you just go on some sort of waiting list?

Yes, referral can be from any current member with any home resort.

Here is a link to the current prices/offers from Disney for all resorts:
http://dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-program/financial/pricing-a-promotions

There is no mention of any referral bonuses for purchasers going on at this time. Sometimes, they offer a few dollars off the purchase price with a referral - I can't remember what other referral offers have been in the past.

So you probably don't even need to worry about it, because you don't need it. No matter where you are buying. It looks like at this time, it would only be a benefit to whoever is referring you, so if you had a friend or relative DVC owner, it would just be something nice you could do for them, but totally unnecessary given the current offers.

This is NOT the case and never has been.

There have been incentive programs in the past called 'Friends and Family' where first-time buyers could get a discount if referred by a current member, but that program has not been offered for awhile now. Even when that was offered, first-time buyers could still purchase at any resort Disney had available without any referral.

Does anyone have the latest price offers list for all resorts?

i asked DVC direct at the beginning of March for BWV and was offered 150 points at $155 a point

Any time I want to know current pricing I always go to DVCNews.com which is a very good site for info. For resale pricing I check out four main re-salers, the Timeshare Store being the main one and a sponsor of the board, Fidelity which I think had or has a relationship with Disney and two others.
