Where is a nice shaded spot to sit with a baby at Typhoon and Blizzard Beach?

We will be visiting both waterparks with an 8yr. old, 5yr. old, and 4 month old. We wanted to know where the best places to sit are? We plan to get there early and find a good spot. I need an area that is shaded and possibly located near a Kiddie area or just centrally located. My 8 year old will be going all over the place, but my 5 year old will probably enjoy the little slids and play area more. The main thing is finding a cool area for the baby. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are leaving in 6 days!

When you first walk in to the Tike's Peak area, the first picnic table on the right. It has a shelter over it, and you can get a couple of lounge cahirs in the shade as well. There's sand for digging, and you're within veiwing distance of the Tike's Peak pool area.
That's our favorite spot, but you have to get there a bit before opening to snag that shelter.

And is that it for shade at BB???

We have never been to BB, but have gone to TL every trip. We LOVE TL, but I had thought that we would try BB since the kids were interested.

If there is no shade at BB, it sounds like it could be a very short day there. We definately can spend the whole day at TL. Between the slides, the wave pool, the lazy river, the shark's reef, laying in the sun, or under the palm trees. (Can you tell I love the place?)

Is BB slides, lazy river and pool only?

Both parks have LOTS of shaded and sunny areas. The trick is arriving in the morning so you can pick out the best shaded area for your family. Also, remember what is shaded in the morning may be sunny in the afternoon!

I would try to get under one of the "man made" shelters, rather than relying on trees, especially with baby. We usually go for the trees and take a sunny spot in morning, knowing it will be shady in afternoon when we actually want to sit & rest.

You might want to swing by the resort and check your bags early in the morning, even if your room is not ready. Tell them you are headed to a waterpark and see if you can get your KTW, because if you are a Disney resort guest you have Extra Magic Hours almost every morning. When we were there in April we were allowed to go in at 9am, instead of 10am. It was virtually deserted! We rode all the major slides with no waiting in line at all! The first few hours at the waterparks are wonderful. Almost everyone comes in the afternoon when it gets hot. But we found the water was plenty warm for us. When it started getting crowded around 2pm we headed back to hotel for hot part of day.

BB - if you decide to go over by Ski Patrol Area, which would appeal to older two, then go into the area, past the icebergs you walk over and keep walking. You will see a couple of covered tables tucked to the right. We always go there. Great private space (backs up to lazy river) that has table, lounges and a cover. Shade all day. And Ski Patrol is just a hop from Tikes Peak Play area.

TL - our favorite spot, and we always get compliments on our spot. Go to the right again, around the wave pool on a path that would take you through the tunnel behind the wave machine. Just before entering the tunnel (this is inside the lazy river) there is a single table with covering and chairs. Total shade all day long. No one next to you, backs up to lazy river and not many people walk past. Great napping location : ) Close to shark reef, food and bathrooms.

But be sure to get there EARLY.
At opening there is a positive stampede for all those mentioned spots, and for any place with an umbrella!! We went once to BB and really wanted some shade. I refused to run with the mob and we walked leisurely inside. We were VERY fortunate to snag an umbrella spot--virtually all the shady spots were gone THAT fast.

Clueless waterpark person I was when we went a couple of years ago - so we arrived, maybe an hour after TL opened!! It was packed ( late July I believe!)

Not even knowing the layout... we went left, and walked with our wheeled cooler, and bags, but no towels!! (*duh, please bring towels from your resort, or you stand in line and pay for towel rental!) We walked all around up the stairs, down the stairs, around the typhoon wave pool, down the stairs (yes, with an 8yr old, and that dang picnic cooler on wheels... the collapsible one from Sam's Club)

Went towards the shark pool, (just looking for a spot to sit!!) and there, in a cove area to the left (from whence we came!! lol ) was a picnic shelter - lots of tables available, lots of lounge chairs!! Came in real handy when it began to rain - we ended up sharing our picnic table!! and the rain stopped after a few minutes!!

So, most of the time I had no idea where dh and dd were!! I put towels and shoes and clothes on chairs, and I put our cooler on the table - along with our bottles of water... no one bothered it all day!! But, I did have to relax about not seeing dd from where we sat, and know that dh was with her!!

Then dd and I did lazy river, and dh was on his own... it was a fun day!!

I think if you enter the park and head right, pass the towel people and lockers, head towards the Shark reef, forward and to the right of the food place - you should be able to locate it - its not a prime spot, but we made it work!!

We did the water parks last summer with a 9, 8, 4, and 6 month old. We visited TL in the late afternoon, so shade was less of an issue. In fact we never really bothered with a base camp, so to speak, on that visit and we were able to leisurely stroll about and had no crowds or lines and sun was manageable. The late day visit really worked well for us, and I would highly recommend it with an infant.

We also visited BB, and for that visit we arrived at opening rope drop and we headed directly for the children's area. We had our pick of man made thatched type structures and we set up at one located all the way to the left (in front of the steepest set of slides for the kiddies) and that spot was nice since it was bordered on the one side by trees and foilage in addition to the man made structure. I was able to stay seated with the baby while dd 4 (days shy of 5) navigated all of the slides very well on her own and I could see her at all times...that is a real plus of the BB child's area.

We traveled late June into early July, so it was a very busy time of the year and we had no trouble securing shade at BB at opening. I think the key really is to arrive at opening. We also had a rental car, so that made transportation to and from the water parks much more convenient than Disney buses. It was like a 5 minute drive from CBR to BB.
