We are planning our first ever Thanksgiving trip to WDW! :cool1:

It will be me, DH, DS12, DD12, DS3, my mother, her husband, and her husband's son (20).

I had been thinking of Boma for Thanksgiving. We had dinner there a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved it! My mother's husband, however, would prefer Liberty Tree Tavern (he has never been to Boma, and I think he feels it may be too exotic). I feel like LTT would be overly crowded and the food too predictable.

As for time, we are not opposed to having our Thanksgiving meal early, i.e. more of a lunch time than dinner time. One of the reasons I wanted Boma was that I felt the parks would be too crowded for Thanksgiving.

What do you think? Which place do you think preferable for Thanksgiving.? Any other suggestions for restaurants?

Thanks! :)

LTT would certainly be "safe" for a predictable Thanksgiving dinner... but to have a dinner to remember, Boma would be great! What about Jiko? It's a little more refined and quieter than Boma - and the food is delicious!

You didn't mention anything about costs...so I'll throw out another suggestion - California Grill...then, you could top off dinner by watching the fireworks over MK! :)

IMHO, I would avoid MK on Thanksgiving Day because of the crowds, and I'd avoid LTT for the same reason. I'm sure it is very popular on that day, which would mean that you may be waiting (and waiting) for your name to be called, even with an ADR.

When we went to WDW over Thanksgiving last year, we had dinner at Teppan Edo. They did nothing special for Thanksgiving, which is why we chose it. It was the most unusual Holiday meal we ever had, but it was also the best. We didn't wait long at all for our ADR to be called...maybe 15 minutes.

I am thinking about Jiko, Artist's Point, California Grill, or The Wave for our next Thanksgiving trip. Artist's Point certainly has that traditional, woodsy, lodge feel, which might make your mom's DH happy.

Here's a link to last year's Thanksgiving offerings. Maybe it will help you decide.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner at Captain's Grille and it was great! The menu was different than their usual: Thanksgiving buffet, but we were so surprised at how good it was. Mini pumpkin cheesecake tartlets: YUM! :)

I would steer away from LTT in this instance. Be prepared: Magic Kingdom is PACKED Thanksgiving night, even the late late parade.

Enjoy! :goodvibes

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Ohana's and they had changed their menu to a traditional dinner which is what we did not want at all! Glad to hear that Teppan Edo was not tradtional!!
For the first 3 Thanksgivings in the world We went to MK and AK which were crowded! Epcot wasn't bad but that's because its bigger and you can move around. Now we go to Blizzard Beach and dinner at a resort.

I vote for Artist Point as well, amazing food and excellent service! The lodge is GORGEOUS!!

We had our main dinner there this last year and it was wonderful. We tried to avoid MK too, and ended up going to Tusker House for lunch and it was very good and AK was not very crowded.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :)

I am really hoping to avoid MK on Thanksgiving and hoping my mom's husband will be OK with this given your experiences.

You've given me some great ideas to check out!

We stayed at Contemporary 2 years ago and loved cali grill. Actually the fast food place there had a very good traditional TG turkey dinner!

Personally I would avoid MK on Thanksgiving but that's just me:goodvibes Last year we had a late lunch at WCC in the Wilderness Lodge. It was a traditional Thanksgiving dinner served on the AYCE skillet.

The only complaint, and it's a small one, is the only option for dessert was pumpkin pie. I didn't mind that but it's not my DH's favorite.

An added bonus is the Christmas decorations at WL are absolutely beautiful:cloud9:

We've enjoyed Thanksgiving meals at Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge) and Olivia's (Old Key West). At Whispering Canyon they bring your food in a skillet shared by the whole table. The food was very good, and certainly was a very standard Thanksgiving meal. Our last experience was this past Thanksgiving at Olivia's. They bring the food plated for each person. There was a LOT of food on the plate and it was all very tasty. ::MinnieMo
