We are thinking about Hawaii. It would be less than I had thought to go. We are looking at here http://www.killino.com/index.html for 2007. We think it is a great rate and you could cook your breakfast and other meals in. And the mother in law and I want to go to Italy someday. I want to see venice and sample wine in the tuscany region.

Hey! Thanks for posting that! My Dh and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2009.
We want to take the kids with us. I did not realize something like this existed in Hawaii.

I just did a search from Ontario to London for tickets through August and they came up in the $488-550 range. For the same time period Ontario to Frankfort is about $500 and Rome is $700ish.

I was using the dates Aug20-Sept 02 since this is the approx time period for this trip. I'll have to play around with the dates and see what other quotes I get. Are you being quoted in US funds or Canadian, this could account for some of the difference, but certainly not all of it ! I often fly from Detroit to Orlando because it is cheaper than from Ontario, so I guess I should look at that option too. Thanks for all your suggestions BTW

Oh my, wonderful suggestion, but.....
I have always wanted to go to Australia, Hawaii, a cruise to the Arctic, or maybe the Mediterranean, Italy, Germany, British Columbia, South America....see my problem
I do appreciate everyone's suggestions though,you are all giving me lots to think about.I really didn't think most of these places would be within my budget though, so looks like I have lots of research to do.

For those of you that have gone to Hawaii,do you stay in one place for your entire trip? Would it be a lot more money to take excursions to other islands to see volcanos, etc? While I love a half day at the beach, I would not enjoy lying around on the beach for a week (what's wrong with me ) I love to go on little trips to keep busy and see new things.

I got my quotes in US dollars, forgot about that currency thing. I bet if you wait about 3 weeks, those prices will be down. The cheapest airline tickets are about 21 days before departure. Sign up for fare alert on Travelocity and they will email you when the price changes but your best price will come about mid to late July.

This all sounds like de jes vu (sorry if I butchered it) We will be celebrating my belated 50th birthday at DW in March. (not having a party since we can't afford the trip and a big party) rather go to DW!! Then in July a couple months later my oldest DD will get married. Big plans for our family coming up.

i'm going to maui for 7 nights and got a package deal through hyatt that includes air, rental car, lodging, breakfast for all adults-for four people aound $1000 per person. it's a stunning property.

it may be less expensive to book it as departing from california and booking a separate flight into california.

i love cruising-but depending on the line and the destination AND the rooming situation-you may be looking at more than you want to spend (with a hotel based trip having a second room just costs for that second room-on a cruise a single traveler in a room is going to pay as much as two people in that room for the entire trip). of course the upside to cruising is once you've paid, with the exception of excursions, tips, alcohol and spa treatments-you've paid for everything.

Stitchfans, yes, it sounds like you will have lots of happy planning to do for 2007 too! I have a trip planned to wdw for this Oct and then thought I'd squeeze one more in at the end of April before my AP expires, the April trip will definately not be happening now, looks like I won't be getting 3 trips in with this AP . I'm really not complaining though, a wedding is much more exciting. My daughter was the 1st grandchild born on my side of the family and is the 1st one to be getting married, so this is going to be fun. Looks like my 50th will be a little belated too, I'll have to plan that for something in 2008.

Sounds like a great trip Now that my dd is getting married in 2007 I will have to put off my 50th celebration until 2008, a little belated. Not sure if it will still be a family trip at this point, as it would now include an extra person! I am always going to remember my 50th year as the "wedding" year LOL. Well, I have lots of time to think about it. In the meantime, hope you have a wonderful trip Maui !
