Where In The World 21. We are now completely legal!!!

Finally sat down and read a little from Sunday's newspaper. Wow...moved to tears seeing the pictures and reading about the Rockport/Port Aransas area. "One of Rockport's most visible landmarks-a cavernous, five-story boat storage facility-was ripped open by the hurricane-force winds. Scores of boats were exposed high in the air, tucked into their spaces, but others had been ripped from the facility and had landed below. Next door, a sprawling boat yard, called the House of Boats, had been the scene of harrowing escape by worker Fermin Garcia, 46. After he helped the owners lift a number of boats out of the water, he and his son and another young worker retired to their houseboat, moored behind the yard. Hours after Harvey arrived, Garcia felt the wind was about to lift the boat into the air. The trio quickly abandoned ship, and made their way in the howling wind a short distance to a large iron fuel tank. They pried open the end of the tank, climbed inside and spent the next 12 hours listening to the storm and the crashing of large boats being thrown from their cradles." CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT NIGHTMARE? :scared1: One police officer on duty in Rockport "appeared dazed" as he told the reporter "it's town wide, it's all over. There is not a part of Rockport that you can drive into and not see devastation." :sad1: :tink:

Geez. That's sad. I couldn't imagine being in that fuel tank for 12 hours listening to the world collapse around it.

This is from a park but not DHS/HS. :tink:

I'll go with animal Kingdom then.

MK or AK?

Is it at Epcot? Is it a planter ?

If you answered, I missed the question on Epcot...at least I think it was asked. I'll add HS if not. :tink:

Looks like I missed some comments before. Sorry about that....

This is from the MK. It is etched in what I assume is concrete. It's not on a wall or on the ground or on a planter. It is on something but not something you would use :)

Also, BTW, I'm in Cincinnati for the weekend because it's my birthday! :cake: So I don't have my computer with me and I will be playing with my phone. So please excuse any typos from me.

:bday:

We are catching a break tonight so far; yes, it's raining but steady, moderate rain. Houston is flooding. Numerous water rescues and freeways being closed; some spots receiving 5 inches an hour. :sad1: Pictures from Port Aransas on Facebook tonight...as bad as I was afraid it would be.

DH, BFF and I already made tentative plans for an October visit...they want to go fishing, I want to spend time on the beach...not gonna happen this year :sad1:. :tink:

 Yikes I'm glad you and your family are all ok. Wow wat a mess. I was just listening to the news and they said it will take years to clean up.

No thank you. I will keep my cold and snow storms.

Half-way to that predicted 30 inches...16 1/2 inches and counting. :umbrella: We've discovered our first roof leak :headache: but DH put a bucket under it so ceiling shouldn't get any wetter. The local CBS station in Houston went off the air about 10 this morning when their studio suddenly flooded. Must have happened quickly...no "sign off"...just a "frozen on scene reporter" standing in the middle of a freeway broadcasting. Actually looks like we may get a much needed break with actual SUNSHINE :sunny: once this current bands moves through. Not over by a long shot; one weather website is showing 6" totals for Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday. Currently the storm is stationary but making signs to move south again, back out into the Gulf and POSSIBILITY of gaining strength again before it moves up to the coast and makes a 2nd landfall just west of Galveston. If that holds true we'll be on the "clean side" and see fewer showers...but that's not suppose to happen until maybe THURSDAY! This was the backyard about an hour ago...first time I could get on the back patio to take a picture without getting wet.

Diane...you get snow days...we get HURRICANE/RAIN DAYS :umbrella::

Our newspaper editor says Mill Creek is "feisty" this morning:
i-ScxRvVb-M.jpg

Hobby and Bush airports in Houston will be closed until Tuesday or Wednesday; parts of Houston have had 25 inches. As of this morning there had been over 2,000 emergency water rescues and counting. Ben Taub Hospital is being evacuated. This is the medical center in downtown Houston:
i-NWjWVrm-M.jpg
i-JB6WQr5-M.jpg

National Guard has arrived in Houston area...and FLORIDA National Guard :yay: is on the way...along with units from New York, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Alabama and Mississippi. There has been 125 tornado warnings and we have a cell approaching us now that indicates "tornadic winds" :scared::tink:

What do you do when you've had 18 1/2 inches...yes...18 1/2 inches of rain :faint: ... (sunshine never materialized this afternoon) you hook your boogie board to the back of your Dad's pickup truck and "go for a ride"! No pictures...they KNEW better than to tell Mimi or their Mom until after the fact :rolleyes1 but were calling Mimi for hot chocolate mix to go with their freshly baked chocolate chips cookies after they dried off! Had a BALL...until the Princess slipped off and scraped her knee; followed shortly thereafter with Redstorm DOING A TOTAL FLIP OFF THE BOOGIE BOARD :rotfl2:! Have to keep a sense of humor here...especially when photos like this pop up on Facebook. This is the road we travel from Bellville to Sealy and I-10...

SO true; certainly not a "morning person" after a hurricane :rotfl2:! For the first time in 3 nights I SLEPT WELL...until NOON! :faint: No alarm set since either rain or phone calls have taken care of that the entire weekend but neither one this morning!:dancer: 23 inches but for the first time in 3 days the forecast says 50% instead of 100% chance of rain!:dance3: School has been cancelled today through Thursday; stores are running out of food. DH went to Subway for lunch and they have 12 loaves of bread left and then they'll close. Supply trucks from Houston can't get through. One of the roads to DD's house out of town is washed out; DH had to go the "long way around" to get to her house. I'll get back with crop answers after I get some breakfast/lunch :goodvibes but to answer a few questions...DD and family are safe/sound in their home with the giant dog :rotfl:; DH and I are safely tucked away in our home with the stray dog. :goodvibes We've named him Snoopy for now and he's content just sleeping and staying dry. Roof leaks have stopped :yay: (DH climbed on the roof this morning and replaced the screw that had come out of the metal roof) and just a light rain. DH said wind was crazy this morning; blew his truck around more than once on the way to DD's house. Know of at least one friend whose home was flooded in the Katy area; she and her children are here in Bellville with her mother. Glad to see Jeff is back and Diane will be later...she spent the weekend in Maine and is at her new job this morning. Later...:tink:

Love this shirt . Yup this is me.

Trying to catch up on everything. Maine was cold. They showed Beauty and the Beast on a big screen at the park. I had long pants(first time all summer) a long sleeve shirt, swearshirt and a blanket and I was freezing. :cold: Good movie :thumbsup2 We had to turn the heat on at night. Work today was so long and busy. I was actually missing my old job. Some of the teachers put a welcome basket together for me. :goodvibes I was so busy I didn't have time to see everything in it but I did see snacks and candy.:hyper:

Karolyn we've been watching the Little League World Series. Glad to see Texas win. Was cheering for them in the game against NC. Didn't do so well against Japan.

Fall is on the way for us - I saw my first stink bug yesterday!

I hope your job gets easier but that's really nice that they put together a welcome basket for you! That's a huge change from your last job!! :)

I missed you Elizabeth. But, it's not from It's a Small World.

I just saw this on my local news as one of the not true pictures going around on Faceboobook. And that airport with the planes in the water is how New York would look with global warming and Obama is not working at a soup kitchen in Texas.

This is where we are suppose to play volleyball Friday :scared::

Just got a message from our nephew in Katy; house okay and they can get to a grocery store but that's it. No other way to get out of their area. One of DD's friends has bags packed but hoping they can stay. One of my band kids had to be taken from his home via boat today. Niece's husband from Dallas area has just been called to leave ASAP for the Conroe area for rescue operations. Harris County Sheriff's Dept. called for additional help late this afternoon; he'd been briefed earlier today and was ready to leave. All Texas National Guard has been called out. So far in the Houston area there are 30,000 "displaced"; City of Houston 911 normally receives 8,000 calls per day...today they received 75,000! :faint: :tink:

:rotfl2: Not surprised :rotfl2:to see that on social media! NOW...replace that shark with an alligator and it's probably TRUE! ::yes:: :tink:

I got goosebumps reading that but "ya gotta do what ya gotta do" to survive those suckers. It's hard to describe the power of a hurricane but when I saw my Daddy and Uncle Lee crawling on the ground 'cause they couldn't walk in it that memory is STILL with me...and that was 50 years ago! :rotfl: That had to be awful for them but pretty smart move on their part. Those suckers are anchored WELL! :tink:

FEMA has already announced they'd be here 2 years  Massive cleanup ahead and I hate to think how much our insurance will go up  but that's a small price to pay. WE are SO lucky! I always said I'd "take" your cold and snow storms :rotfl2:...especially over our heat! :rotfl2: Maine sounds heavenly and LOVED Beauty and the Beast! What a nice thing for the teachers to do for you! :lovestruc Busy is good and it will get easier once the school year moves along a little! Had totally forgotten about the Little League World Series! :faint: Thanks for the update! Japan always dominates so not surprised with that! :tink:
