As of yesterday, in the Houston area alone, 9 TRILLION gallons of water has fallen....

But here’s the kicker: Just how unprecedented is this? Well, remember the flooding that New Orleans experienced with Hurricane Katrina? Most places saw about 10 to 20 feet of water thanks to levee failure, inundating about 80 percent of the city. Now, if we took the amount of rainfall that Texas has seen and spread it over the city limits of New Orleans, it would tower to 128 feet in height — roughly reaching as high as a 12-story office building. Unbelievable!

I will be praying for you Texans. That rain is crazy. I have a best friend who lives in Katy and she seems optimistic in spite of everything.

You may want to check on your friend in Katy ...was watching the Weather Channel earlier while on the phone with DD and they were showing some water rescues in Katy area. I couldn't hear/see where but they received a lot of rain today too. A friend of mine in one of our communitites posted on Facebook this evening that they had 27 inches today ...it's poured all day there.

Where are Diane and Jeff!? DS is one of my weakest areas of knowledge. Even though I was there last Feb., it's so big now!

Does it begin with a letter between A and K? I'm just going down the list on the map....

That's a LOT of water! How is your roof holding out? Now it's coming in the garage And all 6 of you are stuck inside? Do you still have any pets? The big dog?

unlike everyone down south who are getting flooded out. I have been seeing pictures online and it is crazy the amount of rain that is falling down

I feel bad for everyone who is loosing their homes to the water

It's been warm and sunny here too. We haven't had any rain in forever. Some rain would be nice up here.

SO true; certainly not a "morning person" after a hurricane ! For the first time in 3 nights I SLEPT WELL...until NOON! No alarm set since either rain or phone calls have taken care of that the entire weekend but neither one this morning! 23 inches but for the first time in 3 days the forecast says 50% instead of 100% chance of rain! School has been cancelled today through Thursday; stores are running out of food. DH went to Subway for lunch and they have 12 loaves of bread left and then they'll close. Supply trucks from Houston can't get through. One of the roads to DD's house out of town is washed out; DH had to go the "long way around" to get to her house. I'll get back with crop answers after I get some breakfast/lunch but to answer a few questions...DD and family are safe/sound in their home with the giant dog ; DH and I are safely tucked away in our home with the stray dog. We've named him Snoopy for now and he's content just sleeping and staying dry. Roof leaks have stopped (DH climbed on the roof this morning and replaced the screw that had come out of the metal roof) and just a light rain. DH said wind was crazy this morning; blew his truck around more than once on the way to DD's house. Know of at least one friend whose home was flooded in the Katy area; she and her children are here in Bellville with her mother. Glad to see Jeff is back and Diane will be later...she spent the weekend in Maine and is at her new job this morning. Later...

Some of the TV reports from Katy show a LOT of flooding. Hope your friend is safe...and DRY!
