Correct, "other" but not DTD, a water park or ESPN Wide World of Sports. :tink:

On the Boardwalk?

That's our argument too! :headache:

Thanks and I'd gladly send the 95 degrees to you! :rolleyes1 While 20's sounds a little "cool" :goodvibes, the 40's sound wonderful! The day actually went a LOT better than we thought it would. :goodvibes The meet was moved to Caldwell from Giddings at the last minute; not good for those in the Giddings/Smithville area though. Denise...you can understand this...WILDFIRE in Smithville (started yesterday afternoon, now up to 1,500 acres but 50% contained)...smoke in the air in Giddings so they moved the meet. This is 50+ miles away...we could see the smoke on the horizon on our way to Caldwell:

...always a "warm and fuzzy moment" for me watching the athletes join hands and say a prayer before competition:

...and they're off ... (adding to the ankle pain for Redstorm, which wasn't to bad today, was the knowledge that her SHOE HAD COME UNTIED at the beginning of the race!)...

...it's finally done :yay:...Redstorm had a HARD time breathing...HOT and dusty...

...but...expecting a 9th-10th-11th place finish and coming in 6th :cheer2: (out of 38 runners) made her smile!

(Followed by total celebration in the car when she realized she'd just run her LAST CC race :rotfl:; she'll be devoting her high school time to soccer and volleyball! I think my favorite part of the whole afternoon though was during the boys race. A young man from Giddings, who finished 2nd, went back out on the run to meet with a teammate who was running in last place. He ran to the finish line with him encouraging him along the way. :lovestruc I guess there IS "hope" for the younger generation! :goodvibes:tink:

Nice pic of your DGD, she looks so grown up. What a sweet story.:goodvibes

This is the finisher's medal for the half. Don't you wish you were here for this one Annie.

The course map.

I will have to check this out on the 25th. I have a half marathon in Cocoa Beach that morning. The course is up A1A and then over to the ocean for 3 miles on the beach, then over to the finish on I Dream Of Jeannie On. After the run I plan on doing the recovery walking in Epcot. Can't beat a better place than that.

I love, love, LOVE Cocoa Beach...almost as much as DW. :rotfl2: NICE medal too! That would have to be a VERY pleasant run! Good luck! This is my favorite photo from Cocoa Beach...a good size wave had just knocked Redstorm "for a loop"....

...and, not a bad way to spend "recovery walking" either. :rotfl2: :tink:

 That's scary.

I thought about that young man all night...that was SUCH a sweet thing to do! Wish I knew who he was...would sure like to let his parents know they've raised a pretty special young man! :dogdance: Those night fire pictures are REALLY scary, aren't they? It now involves 4,200 acres, has burned 9 homes and 184 homes are in danger. :tink:

That is horrible that they lost 9 homes!! We didn't lose any homes up here. Just on shed. We had an army of fire fighters up here. Glad that is over. It's so scary!

I'm glad yours is over too :yay:. This area was the center of the major wildfire in 2011; 30,000 acres and 1,200 homes burned. We drive through here on the way to the Austin airports and now with Redstorm's volleyball schedule. That was one thing I heard yesterday..."we just dealt with this 4 years ago"! :sad2: It's a beautiful part of Texas but has seen it's share of hard luck. Still...all you can see is burned trees when driving down Hwy. 71. So sad...:sad1:. :tink:
