On a sign? Mailbox?:confused3

:headache: You're on the right track, in fact I thought there was a mailbox close to this "house number" but it's not. It's not on a sign...just a posted "house number" for the fake apartment. The area this is located in does offer a "service" for HS visitors. :scratchin :tink:

congrats that's a big step... all I can say is save save save

after we moved it we had to go out and buy a lot of stuff that we did not have before and really did not think about like.. cupboard organizers and stuff like that and also hardware to hang pictures and brooms

its all the little things that add up quickly

and of course new furniture to fill in all the extra space

Luckily, we had a friend who moved out of her place, so she graciously let us take all of her old furniture. We are having to pay for a storage locker in the meantime, but hey...it's a free couch. We also have a mattress and boxspring, dressers, coffee table, and dining table, so really all that's left is appliances. As for saving....I would if it weren't for those darn student loans.

:yay: We've missed you too! Yep...it's time for all of us to get back to normal :crazy2:! DGD's have their last Holiday vacation day today and we're being VERY lazy! But it all starts tomorrow...school~soccer~dance~gymnastics~doctor/orthodontist appointments~etc. :faint:! As for the house hunting...my advice...buy a lot and build! :rotfl: Take your time and enjoy the hunt! :thumbsup2

Joe would be THRILLED if we could afford to build our own place. The boy is pickier than Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. But I think I have FINALLY convinced him that our first place does not need to have everything and the kitchen sink...I'm not saying we'll take a place lower than our standards, we just don't need a place that exceeds them all.

Okay...this south Texas chick-a-dee is officially COLD too! Still "warmer" than the rest of you (other than Ed :beach:) but it was 22 at our house this morning! :cold: Redstorm has crawled back in our bed with the heated mattress pad turned up to "6"; Little Bit has parked herself in front of the fireplace with The Little Mermaid movie on TV! For those of us with normal daytime temps of 75+ this is rather "chilly"! :lmao: :tink:

It was 60 this morning, 45 at lunch, and will be 12 tonight :faint: Time to break out Apawlo's coat again...yes, my dog has a coat, because as I tell everyone here "he ain't got no fur on his tummy." At least he sleeps under the covers with me, so we keep each other warm!

That's a "pretty good" range of temperatures! :rotfl2: I'm a little concerned about tonight too...our high temp today has been 31 and it's starting to drop now again. We here in the south are NOT equipped to handle the "teens" :faint: ...especially our "tropical" outdoor plants! My puppies are all snuggled in their dog houses...haven't seen them out to play all day! Haven't put the sweater on Goopy YET but he'll get it on this evening!

You have a start on the furniture but, like Jeff says, it's hard to imagine all the "extras" you'll need. Those pesky student loans sure put a damper on things but will pay off in the future. Give yourself 10 years and you & Joe CAN build...DD & her husband are in the process of constructing their "dream home" now...

Are you buying down south or up north? Make sure when you are looking buy a house you can be happy with. When we were looking I wanted a house that was big enough and had everything on my list. A house we could grow into. DH wanted to get an affordable "starter home". Small. We won't be in it forever.......19 years later we are still here.:rotfl: We bought the small cheap one.:lmao: If I could go back I would have bought a bigger house.

I love the brick.:goodvibes My kind of house.

lol most be a southern thing I am not a fan of the brink unless you are going of the italian tuscan look :rotfl2:

I like the bricks. Looks good. And by the way it is 78 right now. Down here they are saying only to the low 50's is what i heard last

That's the look they're going after! :thumbsup2 Granite and copper looking back splash has been installed since this photo was taken...looks awesome! I'd go take more pictures...but it's to DARN cold here now! :lmao: Didn't get above freezing today; it's been 3 years since we've had 24+ hours of below freezing temperatures.

:beach: That sounds pretty good right now Ed! Our closest coastal city, Galveston, has a current temp of 35. I love it but sure is a "pain in the butt" :rotfl:; checking antifreeze in 9 vehicles and 4 pieces of equipment, more firewood, wrapping outdoor pipes, extra "warmth" in the dog houses and now DH is winterizing our pool filter so we're ready to enjoy the warmth of the fireplace tonight. DD's friend in Chicago just posted on Facebook she has frozen eyelashes after BRIEFLY walking her dog...I "feel" for our friends in the North...that's brutal!....:tink:

Still waiting for some more thoughts on this one. It's NOT as hard as it seems! :goodvibes :tink:

Lockers? Phones?

I am fine as long as it gets above freezing during the day. It didn't quite make it today. My high was 28 but, I didn't have to go anywhere so that was fine. I've got a heat lamp and lots of straw for my one last pig, Lulu. :guilty:

We still haven't gotten above 0 degrees yet.

:cold:That's no fun. We finally got above freezing today. It rained all day and felt pretty warm funny how 30's can feel "warm":rotfl: now temps dropping to the teens tonight. Icy in the morning.

:lmao: WOW...we were colder than DIANE today :rotfl2: and just a couple degrees warmer than DENISE! :faint: HEATHER ... :scared: ... just an FYI question (after all the prep DH had to do around our household this evening) HOW do those of you in the north keep your pipes from freezing? :rotfl: Diane...we wouldn't trade our fireplace for anything! Like Denise...there's nothing "warmer" than a nice warm fire in the fireplace/wood heater! :lovestruc BUT...DH has spent HOURS cutting firewood! :rotfl2: At least we're clearing the dead trees from the drought years out of our property! :tink:

PS...DIANE...DH just checked the radar...it's actually SLEETING right across the border in Mexico down by Brownsville, TX

I'm confused, it's on the building but it's not. It's outside right? Not on a sign. Umm...is it in the window?

Lockers? Phones?

:lmao: Okay, everyone stop and take a deep breath! :lmao: Heather...it's outside but it's not on the building or a window...it's on a concrete POST next to a gate that "goes into the courtyard of the fake apartment". :goodvibes Diane & Denise...it's not a seating area, restroom, information board, locker or phone area. :rolleyes2 AS A LONG TIME REGULAR you should have NO problem figuring out what other "service" to visitors is left. :tink:

It's -3 degrees. This is silly.

Not really silly at all. Give it a few more degrees and Jeff will tell you how to wash your car. :goodvibes:lmao: guaranteed excuse to not go to work when you call in and tell them that you froze your car solid:rotfl2::rotfl2:
