Where have you been stuck?

We were stuck on Haunted Mansion just where the buggy turns backwards and goes down the incline. We were stuck on that incline backwards for around 15 minutes with the loud music. It was painful on the back to be in that position for so long and we were so glad it started moving.

whenever we come to that spot I cross my fingers that we do not get stuck!

We've also been stuck on the incline that leads to the drop on Splash Mountain- for about 20 minutes. They finally got it going again, but it was hard sitting in that position for so long! The others were Pirates and Haunted Mansion for shorter time frames.

I guess I am the only weirdo who kind of enjoyed being stuck on the backward incline. I found it peaceful - Spaceship Earth version, not HM.

Splash Mountain, Pirates, and Expedition Everest - had to be escorted out of all of them by CM's. I was just glad that we didn't get stuck on the tracks between the two mountain peaks on Everest. We saw a group that did and it took them about a half hour of sitting up there before they had to get out individually and walk along the very edge of the track to get into the mountain and presumably a staircase taking them down. Holy crap - I don't know that I'd ever make it. I tend to freeze up just climbing a tall ladder!

I like being stuck on the backward incline, too, though I've only experienced it on HM and not Spaceship Earth. It gives you a unique view of everything, and it provides sort of an eerie atmosphere! I've been stuck on HM a bunch of times, as well as POC and Splash Mountain. I love it, honestly. It gives me a chance to check out Disney's amazing attention to detail!

I got stuck on RnRC on the launch bay. We just kept sitting and watching the street sign scroll waiting for the launch. We had never ridden it before so we didn't know what to expect. After probably 10 minutes, the lights in the tunnel came on and the announcement that they were experiencing technical difficulties. We were still locked in for several mor minutes. Then an announcement cam in that the CMs needed to off load immediately. Our harnesses remained locked for at least 10 more minutes. It was rough.

The worst time we were stuck it was not on a ride. We were in WDW for Easter and the park was so packed you couldn't move at all on Main Street. They closed the park but you couldn't move. Security came out through the stores and escorted us through the stores and out the back door. They then drove us out in trucks. The park remained closed for hours. We haven't gone at Easter again!

We went around Easter one year - NEVER again!

The thread about being stuck on Pirates got me wondering about other folks' experiences getting stuck on rides at WDW. Best/worst experiences of being stuck?

Most recently, we were stuck on the Peoplemover in the dark at the Space Mountain portion. It was only about 5 minutes, but it freaked my kids out!

Never! After 44 visits to WDW and 1 to Disneyland over 32 years, I have never been stuck on any ride. I do like my luck! You, however, were describing temporarily stopped as opposed to actually stuck. There is a difference. Some of the rides have to be recycled, some like the Peoplemover are probably caused by some highly intelligent individual getting out of the vehicle or doing some other utterly foolish thing. They cannot start it up again until they are sure that everyone is securely in the vehicles. Lot's of electricity used in that ride. Many of the omni-movers stop to help people with disabilities get on and off rides. A true breakdown usually involves being escorted out of the ride via your own power.

I get the difference and am glad to have never had to be walked off a ride. Have had the short stop happen on HM a couple of times, which I know is quite common. In this case it seemed as though they were having to reboot something. PM stopped, moved a slight bit, stopped again, the lights came on for a brief moment, then went out again, they made an announcement, then got it moving again. Regardless, it was interesting sitting in the darkness listening to the people on Space Mountain screaming. Had another ride on Peoplemover at a time when Space was down, so got to see that one with the lights on too.

On another note, you've got some fabulous luck on your side. Would be nice if you could bottle that.

Been stuck lots of little times. 3 most memorable were:

1) when I was a kid on Space Mountain. Whole thing froze up about 1/3 up the big incline. They turned on all the lights and we had to climb down. I was glad we weren't very far up because it seemed really steep to a kid. Was cool to see how compact everything was in there. This was way before the refurb so don't know if it looks the same now but I still remember all of how it looked then. It actually made me MORE impressed to ride it, knowing all close everything was in there!

2) Getting stuck on Splash Mountain in 2009. Had lots of little stuck times before but this one was 20 minutes long and it was after the drop, just before you get to the end scene. So it's a dark tunnel with nothing at all to see, but we could hear the song. For all 20 minutes. LOL We found out it was because some idjit jumped out of their log onto the "bank".

3) The worst of all....got stuck on Haunted Mansion for what felt like ALL ETERNITY but was probably 15-20 minutes It's my favorite ride in all of WDW, so I usually don't mind getting a little extra time. This breakdown was right in front of Madame Leota too, one of my favorite scenes. BUT my ride buddy that time through was my 8 year old niece. Who decided getting stuck was one step more scary than she was ready for. And started to cry. Really cry. Her mom was outside the ride with the baby. And her dad and brother were 3 cars away. She did not feel an aunt was suitable protection apparently. LOL It took me forever to calm her down. I had to convince her I would never never let anything get her, even if there was something, which there wasn't. She was jammed so far up in my armpit I thought we might have to be surgically separated after the ride. Once she started to stop the outright bawling, I did something I NEVER do with kids and I ruined the magic. She was still so nervous and sobby that I started to show her how the things worked in Leota's room. Showed the angles to look to see the wires and the electronic boxes and everything I could think of. I tried to be super quiet, but when we finally exited the ride a man from the car in front of us approached me. I thought for sure I was gonna get a lecture on ruining it for his kid that was with him but I surprised to find he just wanted to commend me on using that to distract her and calm her down. He said they were actually straining to listen to the things I was showing her because it was interesting. LOL What's really funny is the entire rest of that trip she wanted to be my ride buddy on everything.

I was stopped here too for about 5 minutes. Ride restarted with no further issues but yeah, not the most comfortable!

I got stuck on Maelstrom a few years ago (2012?) We were stopped for about 30 minutes before all the lights came on and after another 15 minutes or so we were evacuated. Turns out that was my last ride on Maelstrom-it was gone by the time I returned to the World.

I've been stuck for the normal 5 minutes or so on almost everything but actually got walked off of Space Mountain, the People Mover, and Toy Story Midway Mania. The worst non-walk off stop was a toss up between about 20 minutes stuck by the entrance to the dungeon on Pirates and the waterfall on the right side after Chickapin HIll on Splash Mountain (it was going full blast that day so we got soaked). The best stuck experience was on the Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland as my car was about to enter the ride through the library. My car stopped right in front of the painted bookshelf and while I waited to be walked off of the ride, I had time to read the titles that included a lot of "hidden" Disney references that you would never see otherwise.

Its just part of the mechanics of a very complex machine and computer system. All parks, everywhere have the same problems.

One thing many people confuse with a break down, is only the ride stopping to help handicapped folks on and off the attractions.

We've been stuck on HM quite a few times, all over the place, but 97% of the time it's in the graveyard (which starts to scare me a bit after a few minutes).

The worst by far was, as a child I was stuck 90+ minutes on IASW and they told us they could not turn the music off, because it would turn it off outside as well and they couldn't do that! A belt broke and the boats could not move. Eventually they evacuated us from the boats using emergency exits within the ride. I remember the CM in his waist-high rubber boots helping me out. I also had on a bathing suit under my clothes that day so I was ready to swim for it! After 90+ minutes of that song, you would too! They got us into the new Lion King show ahead of the huge line for it, and I remember when they explained why we got to go ahead, people were so sympathetic when they learned we were subjected to that song for so long. In the end it is a really fun memory to look back on, even though I didn't ride it again until I went back at 18. I fear my parents may never ride it again haha!

I've also been stuck at RnR loading bay. Steven Tyler did the countdown and the music took off but we didn't! It wasn't until the music ended that we launched. Turns out that ride is a little on the boring side without the music!

Seems I've been stuck on all the same rides as the rest of you (Splash, Small World, Pirates, Haunted Mansion etc).

Although I think the worst was probably Carousel of Progress. As much as I love it, there's only so many times you can hear 'There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow' before it starts to get on your nerves...

I got stuck onCoP last year. We got to watch the 'Turn of the century scene almost 4 times. They let us out halfway through the 4th run through. It's one of my favorites but I haven't been back on it yet.

I have actually hoped that would happen (not the screaming one year old). I always wanted to be stuck up there just starring at the faux Earth from space. But, those short stops never happen when I'm up there, but, usually on the backward trip down or listening to how I should "thank the Phoenicians".

Been stuck on a couple of things.

Twice on ToT. Once right when the elevator starts to move forward and once again after the drops were down and it started to move backward. They had to come manually move our elevator back, kind of creepy with Chucky staring at me the whole time...

Been stuck on Splash before as well and had to be escorted off. It was kind of cool to see the floats and all for the parades behind the scenes. I can't remember what parade was going on at the tme.
