Where have all of the small contracts gone?

Back in January when I first starting looking into DVC resales there were many small contracts (50, 75, 100 points) where have they gone? I have been looking at the top 4 resale websites everyday and nothing onsite available. I have called and they said that most of the listings do not make it to the websites and they have waiting lists. Why all of a sudden this huge demand? Will it level off in the future and will we see more become available? What has happened in the past does it run in cycles? We settled and bought a small Vero contract we got tired of waiting. We hope to buy an additional small contract in a few months and hope to buy onsite. If you have an opinion would like to hear it.

My guess is that the news of a price increase caused anyone who was thinking of adding on to go ahead and do it. At least that's what caused us to purchase our add-on.

pmcpmc has got it right.....

Call one (or more) of the resale companies and let them know what you are interested in......

Most of the small contracts never even make the website.....

That's how we got a 105 point BCV and my sister got a 50 point BCV.....never could have gotten them otherwise........

Also, Disney stopped having a waitlist for add ons for current members. We're still waiting for 50 VWL points, and would have bought a VB add on through Disney, but none were available, so we went with resale with VB, and would do so with VWL.

But, yes...I "heard" it is cyclical. I am new to this, but when I purchased my resale, I asked Pat (the Timeshare Store) that very question. She said it has been busier than normal this year, but that people tend to buy in early spring when they realize that their points are not sufficient. Then, she said, others sell in the fall and winter when they realize they haven't gone, and aren't using their points (and, again when dues come due in Jan). I think SSR has brought many people to purchase resales (I know it did us). When DVC sent me the info on DVC and SSR, I kept finding myself saying, "But, I want to own there, or there." I'm sure SSR is beautiful...it looks GORGEOUS. But, I am not into spas or massages, and except for a little DD shopping...am not into DTD. I LOVE the theming of some of the other DVC's, and I guess I just could not "get over it" enough to plunk down MORE money for SSR. I could be wrong, but I don't think I'm the only one who felt this way. It might change now that SSR is open and people can actually see how beautiful it is...I don't know if I would've bought there or not if I could've toured SSR...I think I am still too much of a "location junkie".

By a short term observation (3 years maybe?) I think it is definitely seasonal. Spring/Summer is a sellers market and Fall/Winter is a buyers market. Which makes sense because of what Beca said AND because Spring & Summer are the biggest seasons at Disney...lots of families, lots of touring going on. So if you want a resale get on the list and it may come through for you in the fall.

What you said Beca makes sense I will wait to see what happens this fall. Thanks for all of the responses.

We just bought a 50 point add-on at BWV - started the paperwork I think in March. We were not on any call lists. It was listed at TTS in fact for almost a week before we decided to go for it.

We bought our first 100 point BWV contract last year - maybe in late summer. We weren't on a call list for that one either.

It does happen, although it doesn't hurt by any means to be put on the call lists for the various resellers.

Good luck!
