I was shopping for a Christmas card yesterday and you see Happy Holidays, Holiday Greetings, Joy, Season's Greetings, but very, very little Merry Christmas. I even saw Merry Wishes! Merry Wishes? Very little cards showed Santa (I think I only saw one) and I can't say that I even saw a manger scene, a Bethlehem star or any other religious symbol. Where did Christmas go? Christmas has been thoroughly sanitized.

Or, everyone who shopped last week bought them all!!!!

I have trouble with Christmas cards too, although my biggest issue is for 'dad' cards. My mum is now in Heaven and it's so hard to find cards with just dad on them. I found more cards yesterday with 'dad and his wife' or 'you are like a dad to me' than I did with 'dad'!

I actually have bought boxes this year and last with nativity scenes on them... weyhey.

Individual cards are so expensive too. In the UK main card chain you can pay £5 (maybe nearly $10)...

I have a hard time these days finding religious christmas cards to send out in regular stores. I ended up finding what I was looking for in a Christian book store/gift shop.

Really? I have the opposite problem. I try to send out non-religious cards and they all have Merry Christmas on them!

One card costs nearly $10!?! :faint:

yeah they can be... but we don't buy those. My sister found one she loved for our dad... with really nice words... she showed it to him in the shop, and got him to read it as there was no way she was buying it (or he would have let her for that matter). You can also buy them for about £1 or $2 in other places... but $10 is crazy isn't it. You can buy a box for a lot cheeper than that if you want to. It's the 'mum' 'dad' 'one I love' etc that are crazy prices

I've noticed it as well. Quite frustrating.

I also noticed it at department stores, when it comes to gift cards, that they are all winter themes (snowmen, snowflakes), Happy Holidays, or Happy Chanukah but not one Merry Christmas. Strange.

Let's get him a single ticket to planet Bah-humbug. If you're atheist why celebrate Christmas? (see another thread on this).

I think some places are trying to be a little to PC these days. They sell Happy holiday cards instead of Merry Christmas, etc cards so not to offend anyone.

I made photo cards at Walgreen using our Disney photopass CD. I had lots of options--Happy Hanukah, Happy Holidays, Peace on Earth, Merry Christmas. I chose Merry Christmas because that is what we are celebrating and everyone we send them to knows it.

you aren't kidding! i was looking for cards that i could put photos in. i found ONE box and so i came home and dug out my old CHRISTMAS cards. what are they thinking???? with santa, reindeer, trees? are we celebrating winter solstice?? :confused3

I have a hard time believing this. I have never gone into a card area and had trouble finding tons of Jesus, Mary, Nativity, and Santa cards. Btw, if you can't find one you could always write Merry Christmas... I write that in all my cards even if it's already printed on them... it's just natural to add that to my sig.

I found the biggest variety of cards at of all places, Kmart! They had both Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and other versions of each. They also had a wide range of prices anywhere from 2.99- 10.00 for a box of 18 cards. We got the 2.99 ones. ;)
