Where else should we eat?

DH and I are going down in about 3 weeks to celebrate our 10th anniversary... just us... no one else! This will be our first trip, since our honeymoon, that we're on going ALONE! So, these are the "sit down" restaurants where we've eaten...

MK:
Chef Mickey's
Cinderella's Castle
Crystal Palace

MGM:
Sci-Fi
Pizza Planet

EPCOT:
In Japan... can't remember the name of the restaurant

AK:
Rainforest Cafe

DTD:
Rainforest Cafe
Planet Hollywood

I've made a ressie for the California Grill since we're staying at the Contemporary... where else would you suggest? DH is a beef guy and I'm kind of picky so just "regular" food would be good. We're looking for "fun" places. Not just your run of the mill restaurant. Is the Brown Durby fun? We tried to eat there once but didn't have a ressie so we couldn't get in. Or Hollywood & Vine? What about the 50's cafe? We didn't love the Sci-Fi Theater's food but the atmosphere was fun (just a bit dark)...

I think we're probably only going to MK and MGM (those are our favorites) so if you could recommend spots in those two, that'd be GREAT!

I always eat at the Brown Derby and have had consistently good meals. I see that it is your husband and yourself, are you doing a special anniversary meal?

I tried Artist Point last visit and it was a very good meal, service was good, and interesting choices.. We also like Citrico's at the Grand Floridian for a nice sit down meal, any of these recommendations I would do an ADR for.

What about dinner at Libery Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom, it is a character meal in the evening and family style, but it is a meat and potato type of place.. not fancy, I would say Artist Point and Citrico's are fancy in keeping with the California Grill...

We also like to eat on the Boardwalk and specifically like Spoodles... dining with a Mediterranean feel..

Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary is great for steak.

I would go for 50s Prime Time at MGM for a casual meal or Brown Derby (yum) for a more upscale meal. Prime Time is fun and has good food while Brown Derby is a good restaurant with good food. I would not characterize it as "fun".

I like Liberty Tree Tavern at MK for a character meal or Tony's for a meal without characters.

If you are really looking for fun, try the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. It is hoot! Ohanas is also fun as well as the Hoop De Doo.

We love Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK - it's our must-do on MK EMH nights.

Not in the MK but easily accessible at nearby resorts, we love Kona Cafe and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Concourse Steakhouse at the CR is also very good.

If your looking for fun, non normal restaurants, I would suggest:

MGM: 50's PT, very fun, great food!

MK: I would boat over to WL for lunch or dinner at WCC. Alot of fun, especially if you order ketchsup! I always get the all you can eat skillet! Yum!
You could also monorail over to the Poly and have dinner at Ohana's. Also very fun!

You might consider 1950s Prime Time Cafe instead of Sci-Fi. The meal we had the 1950s PT was actually the best meal we had our entire trip.

Ok, I've booked 50's Prime Time Cafe, California Grill and the Concourse Steakhouse. I'm going to have DH look at the menu for Liberty Tavern... we're from New England, so they have VERY familiar food there.

I think that's all I'm going to book ahead... oh, maybe Brown Derby too... for lunch. I kick myself everytime we go for not booking it.... UGH!

We'll only be there for 4 days so I don't want to overbook KWIM?

See my post on the CG, it was excellent.

We did have a nice meal at the 50's PT and I had pre-ordered a 6" cake that the wife did not know about. It was all perfect and they even had us do a "Cake Cutting Ceremony".

We did the Sci Fi and it was only Average at best, more for the Atmosphere.

Our new preferences are the CG(the new favorite), Le Cellier (old favorite), Ohana Dinner, Whispering Canyon Breakfast.

We just finished a trip this morning of 6 days of kid free WDW. I say kid free, we had 4 graduated Seniors with us that needed no supervision, just a way there and back, lol.

A few places that we found that we liked were the "Writer's Stop" and the stores on Main Street at MK. The book stop is a neat place to hang out for a while, either during the day for a break or waiting for the Sci Fi. I found the shops to be a neat place as I have never really been in them due to 2 boys, ages 5&7, our last 4-5 trips, I just keep them occupied while the wife shops.

50's Prime Time is a fun place. We have to eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe and Boma's every trip. I know Boma is a buffet, but the prime rib is good and the chef makes us feel at home. We went on our wedding planning trip in February 06 and he walked us thru the menu letting my DW know what she could and couldn't eat because of her allergies. He later brought out a special dessert for us to share. When we went back for our wedding in October he remembered who we were, brought out a special entree and dessert to our table and just made us feel so special.
