Where does the crew sleep?

Obviously there's a lot of leftover space on Deck 1 that must be used by the crew. Is that it, or is there a deck below Deck 1 that is also used? What are the conditions? Do they sleep in triple bunk beds, or what?

The real question should be WHEN do they sleep??

There are some crew quarters on deck one. I have seen pictures, I think 2 to a room and they are VERY small rooms. Much smaller than the guest rooms. They sleep in bunks. They have their own pool, bar, and rec room too.

There are actually 4 decks below deck 1.

As to when they have time to sleep is beyond me.

They do have their own pool. I have seen only a few (under 5 total) crew using it during our prior cruises. I understand that they do have their own clubs, common areas and private areas.

I did not work for DCL but I can tell you about what my living arrangements were like on NCL. We had some crew rooms on deck 2 of our ship (with the passengers) and 3 decks below sea level. We were 2 to 4 per room depending on your work location and (sadly) your country of citizenship (depends on the lifestyle you were accustomed to before being hired). They roomed us with people that were in the same department as we were that way we kept some what of the same schedule for sleeping and such. Speaking of sleeping in my situation I was known to all in my hallway as "BedHead...the Head Restologist" because I was sleeping every moment I could find. You don't appreciate 10 minutes of sleep until you work on a cruise ship. I was working for NCL when Disney premired their ships and from what I understand from some friends that went over to Disney they have (or had, not sure with some of the newer ships that have come out) the best crew rooms at sea. My room on NCL, was an average oceanview room ( I would say about 160 sq ft) we had bunks (top was a single bed, bottom was a queen...yes I got stuck on the top...sometimes senority stinks ). We had TV/VCR, stereo, mini fridge, a dresser/desk, closet and the ittiy bitty bathroom that most cruise lines have (and we had stateroom attedants that cleaned our room, that was our one luxury). Working on a cruise ship is alot of fun, but you have to have the passion and desire to be there, it definetly is not glamorus.
