Where do you upgrade your ticket?

We have base MYW tickets that we want to upgrade to APs when we get to WDW. Some places I read you have to go to GR either at DTD or TTC. Other places I read you can also go to GR at one of the 4 major parks. Is that true?

What is the best place/time to do this? I don't want to wait in long lines if I can avoid it.

Any Guest Relations location at the theme parks or at DTD can do this for you. Your best time at the theme park GR's is early-mid afternoon or just before park closing. You certainly want to avoid park opening times. If you use the DTD locations, anytime is a good time.

Not sure about TTC, but I know you can go to GR at the four parks and DtD. I prefer Dtd if you have time. Never a line. If you do it at one of the parks, try to do it right before closing time.

You can upgrade your tickets at many of the hotels, for sure at the Swan/Dolphin which is where we purchased our APs.

I was told specifically that upgrades cannot be done at a hotel.

The Guest Services desks at S/D are run by Guest Relations and can do this.

The Guest Services/Lobby Concierge desks at the Disney resorts cannot.

Yes, Disney resorts can do these kinds of transactions (adding options, extending days, etc) but they cannot do anything when an AP/PAP/SP is involved in the transaction as the OP was asking.
