Where do you think Disney Dropped the Ball

This one is kind of an "advance" opinion, but if the old 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea area is really just going to be a 100 Acre Wood character greeting area and nothing more, then I am disappointed in Disney. That is prime real estate and there are already so many greeting areas throughout WDW. Now, if they would start bringing out some RARE characters, that would be a different story... (I guess I'm just tired of seeing the same few over and over).

I agree with those who think Disney dropped the ball with MGM. It started out so great and look at it now. It's a great place for those wanting thrill rides but I didn't think that was the point. I fondly remember things like Superstar Television, the Golden Girls' house, Imagineering, etc. It seems like the purpose of the park has changed dramatically and I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited to go there because it is Disney but I think of what it used to be and what it could be and I am saddened.

I aggree with the others that said Journey into imatinaion, it used to be my favorite ride, now I don't even bother to go see it, very disappointing.

I also vote for the closing of River Country. I do remember going as a kid, but my memory has faded :sad2:

I think Disney has dropped the ball with cleanliness. I used to be so amazed at how clean Disney was. My past 2 trips I've noticed that the bathrooms are dirty and there has been gum and popcorn on the ground. I also agree about MGM, this is also my least favorite park. I remember going there and watching the Imagineers drawing Beauty and the Beast, Hercules, etc, now it's just wasted space. Does anyone remember when the Alien used to jump down from the roof? Now you don't even get that thrill.

what was the old journey into imagination like id like to hear about it anyone have any links id appreciate it thanks

Hey everyone,

I have a question for anyone who would like to participate. I love Disney as much as the next Disney Geek, but there have been areas where I feel they have dropped the ball. Whether it is a ride, restaurant or other. Where do you think Disney dropped the ball.

The one thing that comes to mind for me is: Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom. I usually love these water raft rides, but felt this one was lacking in everyway e.g. themeing, thrills and fun. It seemed like it was done in a rush. Very non-Disney.

What areas do you feel Disney let you down.

And by the way, I use the term Disney Geek in the most positive way.

1. The restaurant at the American Pavillion. That was the BEST we can show? I'd love to have the LTT there or even a cajun restaurant something ELSE besides the usual burgers and fries, especially overcooked burgers on stale buns. YUCK! Sure, have a McDonalds as a walk up but for goodsness sake, have a REAL restaurant there.

2. the stupid hat at Disney Studios... okay for a temporary display, but not permanent. It blocks the othewise marvellous view of the Great Movie Ride

3. Pizza Planet pizza joint... more effort to make it look like the eating establishment featured in the movie would have been great

if I think of more I'll add later...

I agree with the sense of newer attractions being "cheesy." Mr Toad was a vintage ride which should have been cherished as the treasure it was. To me the Pooh ride looks like it's temporary--cutouts till they get something permament in place.

I have the same reaction to the loss of the original Imagination and the Tiki bird rehab.

And don't get me started on Dinoland...

I loved MGM when it first opened. I loved seeing the stars come in and do the hand prints, loved the animation tour etc etc..... it has really gone down hill I think. The excitement seems to have gone out of that park :sad2:

They dropped the ball by not having coffee makers or, even worse, hair dryers in the rooms at the Value resorts. I mean, a $30 crummy room at a cheesy motel will probably have those two things. For a company that caters to its customers in so many ways, those two little details should have been givens in their planning.
Honey, I am there with you! I was stunned to walk in my room at Pop Century and find it had neither a hair dryer or coffee maker. Though I don't care for coffee, I was still surprised there was none in the room!

I did hear from a CM that another CM went out and bought a coffee maker for a guest who asked where the coffee maker was. And I also read that if you want a hair dryer, just ask the front desk.

But, like you, I was still VERY surprised!

I agree about MGM, they need to add a few more exciting attractions. I think the Indiana Jones show needs to go, as wellas Sounds Dangerous. Two huge wastes of space. If not for ToT, RnR, and millionaire, I think we would skip this park.

Now I think the complete opposite. It needs to get back to the way it was before WDW got so concerned with thrill rides.

They really dropped the ball with that dirty water they try to sell as coffee at most of WDW. I don't care who WDW has the contract with, you would think WDW could put a little pressure on them to put out a better cup of coffee.

Huge WDW fan here. I'm with others who think there has been a lot lacking at some of the parks -- especially MGM Studios (& what about Animal Kingdom?). There are some fixes in the works. "Lights, Motors, Action!" is going to be huge at MGM. Now something has to happen where the animators used to "live & work." Animal Kingdom will have "two attractions" (ok, that's a low blow) by '06. As far as Mission: Space -- realize Disney spent about as much on that one attraction as was spent to build the first Disneyland (Space Mountain is in the same category). Mega-dollars are being dropped on these attractions. Money isn't everything, but I don't believe they're trying to "miss." I do agree about attention to some old Disney details -- a lot of the CMs need to take a happy pill. And cleanliness -- while better than most places -- does not seem as sharp as it once was.

Hi!

Well, there isn't really all that much that WDW offers that can be matched anywhere, but I guess I have to agree that the Stitch attraction wasn't as good as Alien Encounter. I'm not wild about Kali River Rapids, but that hasn't as much to do with theming or brevity as it does with getting way too soaked. Came back from my 33rd trip to WDW in December, and it was just as clean, just as friendly, just as Magic as it ever was. I LOVE Mission Space, and if you can find fireworks anywhere in the world like WISHES, let me know. It's hard for me to be negative about WDW. Sorry to all the naysaying nabobs of negativism! :confused3

I don't mean to be negative about WDW at all - I also adore the place, which is why I get concerned when it looks like it's losing the magic that sets it apart from the rest.

A few things that really bother me:

1) Dinoland in AK. Dinosaur is a great ride and the play area is great, but the country fair portion is the worst part of all of WDW. Primeval Whirl is a cheap carnival ride and the rest of the area just looks incredibly cheap. WDW is so much better than this.

2) Stitch. This is a miserable attraction for a great character. This attraction should be made for kids - instead it scares them even though it is really just a toned down Alien Encounter. What a waste.

3) Tomorrowland when the COP and Timekeeper are shut down. It is just a huge area without much going on.
