I do love to scrapbook, but have not done it in awhile because it's such a hassle to pull everything out and then I tend to leave it all over the dining room table for weeks and then put it away and it's months before I do it again. The last time I only accomplished one page. I told my husband that we have a empty wall in our bedroom that I want to put some type of desk on so I can have my scrapbook stuff out all the time. He's afraid it will be another flat surface for me to just pile with "crap" What is everyone else's systems. Any suggestions. Any pictures.

Thanks! I need all the ideas I can get.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem as you! By the time I get everything hauled out, I want to take a nap! Hope you come up with a solution that suits both of you!

I am lucky, I have a 10 x 10 room with an L shaped desk for scrapbooking. The room also has the ironing board and sewing machine in there.

I am blessed to be able to leave things out. I usually work a bit on my layouts each morning as I iron my clothes for work. Otherwise, I doubt I would get anything done either if I didn't have a dedicated space.

I have a drafting table in our bedroom, and I scrap standing. We put it up last year, and I made the rule for myself that ONLY scrapping items were allowed on it, because I was afraid it would be just another horizontal surface piled with stuff. So far, so good. It's wonderful to be able to leave a project out....I scrap a lot more than I did when I had to put it on the kitchen table.

I have a room in our basement. It's not finished, but has carpet pieces and a little heater to keep me warm. I have 2 tables, 2 old dressers and some crates that I keep all my crap in. Used to hate having to haul it all out and back again. I feel your pain.

Hi. I also have a spare bedroom as a scraproom, but oh its a mess and not organized. I just seem to always stand at my kitchen counter, then I am up and down the stairs trying to find stuff, but now we just moved a huge office desk to our living/diningroom. Untill I get my scrap room organized I love my new spot.

PhD (Piled higher and Deeper) here, too, but not in my scrapbook area.

I have an 8' counter supported by 2 old shelving units, a rolling cart and a small book case. Only scrap stuff is allowed on it. If I want to buy supplies that exceed the space, I need to purge before they can come in. While I'm in the throes of a project, yes, it gets piled high with the 'stuff' from that project. But at the end of every project, everything gets put away and the surface empty before I start another project. The process kinda mentally 'clears the deck' too.

I have put all my stuff in our dining room. Since we never use it I have dumped all my stuff there... now that holidays are coming I a freaking out!!

I use our spare bedroom as my craft room and NOOOO it's not organized even though my husband built selves in the closet for all my cardstock, I have bookcases for the albums, a computer armoire for the computer, photo printer, scanner & printer and two tables one for scrapping and the other for my DDs to use for their crafts. Then there is my scrapbooking stuff all over - I've come to realize that I have WAY too much stuff :rotfl:

It's also the "I don't know where it goes" room so I'm always cleaning it off stuff that my DDs & DH put in there :lmao:

I feel fortunate that I have a spare bedroom in our house that's my "craft room." We just had our floors refinished so I'll have to post pictures once the room is all fixed up. I have 2 large IKEA bookcases and a small square storage thing from Target for all of my stuff, and 2 IKEA large rolling carts for paper. Where I work is my old desk from college and a table my daddy left me. The desk and table are set up sort of back-to-back and I go between the two. I can have unfinished layouts on the desk and be working on cards at the table so it's convenient for me.

i'm with you wdwmom. i'm in the basement! it's ok, but i'd love to finish it to make it a *room*, but i have so much more that needs to be done in my house first!

I too am in the basement. I have my own little corner of a finished basement. I am pretty organized. I have 8 crop in style cubes, a card table to work on, some paper storage, and a rolling cart for my cricut and cuttlebug folders. It used to be "man town" down there, but I have now moved in. DH is actually good about it, while he is playing video games he gives me title tips and advice on pages.

I'm in the basement too.. Lets see.. I'm actually working w/in my laundry room.. yep, the other side needs refinished and that is a little lower on the thing to do list until my family room is finished!! Anyway, I have a cast iron double sink that I despise so DH made a plywood hard surfact to lay over top and I scrap on it..and I have everything in bookshelves or shelfing units... I also have a card table and a set of dresser drawers that holds lots of stash piles of swaps..

It's workable for me and thats all that matters..but I only have 2 years an the oldest is off to college and he says he is not coming home so that is my cue to convert his room to my scraproom w/ a hideaway bed in there!!! :) I've already told him.. you don't come home; the room becomes mine.. so you better make sure you are really leaving! (I know he'll be home but not too often..he wants on his own..dreams off graduating college and moving to italy.. why italy? who knows!)

me too. We have a huge table in the living room that we eat at so I took the dining room over but I hate the chairs! They kill my back.
When we move into a new house I'm getting rid of the dining set and I'll have a nice scrap room with real scrap furniture.

And I like to stand so sometimes I scrap at the kitchen island when it's cleared off.

We turned our guest bedroom into my scraproom. Now, no one can stay over... YAY!:lmao:

I have 6 white Store in Style cubes (some with doors and some with drawers) plus two lengths of the Store in Style desktops so my scrapping table takes up a whole wall.

I also have a free-standing wooden cabinet that holds stuff, paper trays, and several shelves.

I have a special table set up in the basement so I can watch tv while I scrap. I prefer to keep my stuff out all the time so when the time is free all I have to do is set down.

I had all the same problems. It took me a week to clean off any horizontal surface - a week to get out the scrapbook stuff and months to put it away. I went digital and have gotten about 100 layouts or more done since April. I am going to order them as a book and make a DVD of the layouts for the TV.
