Where do you like to eat your first meal at Disney?

Ohana's on travel day.

Tropical atmosphere gets us in the vacation mood, enjoy being greeted by our "cousins", get a good view of the MK Castle (and fireworks if we time it right) and the menu satisfies my meatasaurus husband.

We also sometimes do a monorail hotel crawl for after-dinner drinks and/or dessert/coffee.

Denise < --- hoping to continue our tradition in September.

The Plaza Restaurant.

We arrived at lunch on a Saturday and headed straight for MK. Newbies are gluttons for punishment, I guess. I knew nothing about Plaza, but made a dinner PS for it weeks in advance. It worked out great. The food was decent, the decor just kinda kept us immersed in the Disney....thang, and (most importantly) I believe they had the thermostat set on 40! I had to feel sorry for those waiting on standby just outside in the sweltering heat. Even though it was our first day on our first trip, we didn't rush to get out and hit the rides. A/C rocks!

I'm gonna do the same this year, too, I believe. With some adjustments.

Before we became DVC members, our traditional first meal was at the food court of whatever hotel we were staying at (always mod or value). Now, if BWV or BCV, first meal is sandwich and dessert at Boardwalk Bakery. If OKW, something in our villa (either made there or from Good's to Go) and sitting on our balcony, relaxing.

Hi, normally we get something on the Boardwalk, as we are DVC members there. But, on our last trip we headed to Prime Time Cafe with two other couples to get in the "Disney frame of mind." We had a blast and it set us on course for a great trip. (It also didn't hurt that we left in a snowstorm and were thrilled to be in 80 degree weather!)

Since we're DVC members and either stay at BCV or BWV (once at YC) we always begin our stay at Epcot. I always book the first flight out of Boston or Providence for an early am arrival. We usually get to our hotel by 1pm. And I always have a 2:30-3:00 reservation at San Angel Inn for lunch. This way we can have a nice quiet meal in a cool place while the kids get wound up with the simple ride around the cantina. This past week our 3 yr old loved the ride so much she took it at least 6 times before she ate anything.

After we leave, we walk one side of Epcot's World Showcase back to our hotel to unpack, swim and then either go out to dinner or go back to Illuminations. It's a nice simple tradition. Can't wait to do it again next spring!

We always arrive in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day exploring around the resort. So, we always eat dinner our first night at the resort! We are going in Oct. and are staying @ the AKL, so our first night we are eating at Boma!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We usually eat at Rainforest Cafe on our first night. On our next trip we are going with 2 other families who have never been to WDW. We are going to eat at Chef Mickeys instead. The kids who have never been to WDW can't wait to see Mickey.

We usually drive and arrive on a Saturday about 2:00. We don't go to any parks that day, we just relax at our resort (YC/BC) and eat something light.

But, our tradition is on Sunday a.m. to go to Kona Cafe for breakfast before hitting the Magic Kingdom. We've been doing this quite awhile. Love that tonga toast and press pot of coffee. mmmmmmmmm.

Then, we have our traditional lunch at Caseys at the MK.

After that, we do have favorite restaurants, but no specific order or days. Sunday is our kickoff the trip day at MK so we stick with tradition since it's the park with the most "tradition."
