By request, I am posting this poll to figure out where fellow DVCers go grocery shopping while staying at WDW.

I voted Publix, but I would shop at Albertsons or Winn Dixie also.

I would not shop at Goodings- I am WAY too frugal

I will never again shop at Walmart- WAY too much stimulation! Crowded, and prices are not lower than the grocery stores (for what we buy).

I know Gooding's may be a little more expensive than some of the other options, but when we first bought DVC (1993), it was the only close-by option. It's become part of our tradition....

;)

We usually do the super Walmart (especially for diapers and formula) our first day and then try to stay away fom there. Too big and crowded and a lot of searching to find your items. For subsequent trips, we go to Publix, or Winn Dixie.

Tiffany Town Car has twice brought us to a Kash'n'Karry. DH found it bright, clean and well stocked and staff helpful. Last week they wanted him to come back the next day because what he was buying would be on sale! It was great for a half hour stop. (Our driver lent us his preferred customer card for discounts!)
When we go for Thanksgiving we ask to go to the Publix on Colonial Dr because that's where we order our dinner.

up on sand lake road.It probably isn't the closest, but it's a nice quite ride up turkey lake rd,its about 10 minutes from WDW.

It seems that Publix is the favorite so far.

Interesting to see people shop at Goodings just as much as at Winn-Dixies.

Just out of curiosity, since I have never been to any of these,

for those of you who shop at Goodings, do you have them deliver your groceries or you actually go over there?

What makes you go there mostly? Is it that much more convenient than the others to make up for the price difference?

Thanks

We shopped at the new PUBLIX in the Premium Outlets Mall on Vineland Ave. About 10 minutes from WDW, and on the way from the airport.

Bright, clean, well stocked ,excellent fruit , vegs and deli meats.

We were there on 12/21/02. The store was empty, got in and out in under 30 minutes..

We usually went to Winn-Dixie. Our driver from Florida Tours asked us if we would be interested in trying Kash & Karry.

He gave us a discount card, and off we went into Supermarket Sweep mode. There were 7 of us who would be spending two weeks at OKW.

I was amazed at everything that we got for $180.00. Cases and cases of water, soda, beer as well as juice, detergent, milk, cereal, bagels, fruit, all sorts of snacks and 3 bottles of champagne.

The store was clean, well stocked, and there was no wait to checkout.

I would definitely go there again.

I don't....I order stuff from netgrocer.com!! :)

I get the cold stuff either at a gas station on the way or at the resort, depending on how much stuff I get.

I go to Publix for the main grocery trip, but to Goodings or Winn-Dixie if necessary for small stuff. (like the things I forgot at Publix!)

Goodings has some good beer, which is what we really only stop at a grocery store for anyway - we don't cook or anything like that, so maybe we will buy a snack, and Goodings is convenient and caters to tourists for things like snacks. I know that it is expensive to actually do "grocery" shopping there, but that's not what we're looking for anyway-

We have bought prepared meals at Goodings such as chicken pies or lasagna. The cost of the meal coupled with a bag of salad was probably 50% higher than we would spend at home but very convenient (Goodings is close and all we had to do was heat up the meal) and way cheaper than the cost of a sandwich in any WDW or area restaurant. During our last trip, we tried Winn Dixie. While there wasn’t as nice a selection, we had similar success and spent less.
