Where do you buy your pumpkins?

The pick-your-own place we go to for apples has VERY expensive pumpkins, so each year I let let kids wander through the pumpkin patch, pick their favorites, take their pictures with them...and then go buy the cheap ones at the grocery store!

I don't, a friend of our's is a farmer and grows them! He brings me some over every year! He is coming on Sunday...

Every year we go to the North GA mountains to a farm, for Pumpkin Patch, hay ride, corn Maze and apple farm.

We go to a local pumpkin farm. They do free hayrides out to the field where you pick your own. You can get "all the pumpkins you can carry & walk 3 steps with" for $20. It's funny to see people trying to manage armfuls of pumpkins!

I'm hoping they have a good crop this year. Year before last was awful - so bad we didn't even try there last year. We're going to go next weekend, I think, to see what they have this year.

My kids would be heartbroken if we did it that way. I'd rather pay a little more and just buy them then rather than make another trip someplace else. That sounds like a lot of extra work just to save a couple of dollars.

We usually get ours at a local apple orchard. I hate carving them though, so it just ends up sitting on a table until I finally throw it out.

I know I should probably do some mother/son bonding and carve the darn thing. The problem is that my mom always used to make pumpkin seeds in the fall, so I would have to clean dozens of the stupid things. I really despise it now.

Anyone want to come over and carve a pumpkin?

Apple orchard. I like one-stop shopping and we can avoid the very popular, crowded and loud pumpkin farm....priceless.

We are growing our own!!!!! My DD6 found the seeds out front from where last years pumpkin gooshed apart. She wanted to try planting them. I warned her I didn't know if they would make it. THEY DID!!!!! We have maybe 4-5 of various shapes and sizes growing! 1 is just perfect for carving! DD11 named her Jessica. We talk to her every morning. Yesterday DD6 was so excited because it was raining. She knew that Jessica could use it!
Other years we have bought our at the pumpkin patch close by. They have a corn maze too.

We get the little ones - for decorating the yard - at a really inexpensive pick-you-own patch. Then later get a couple big ones- for carving- at one of those farms with the maze and all the activities - it has become a tradition!
