Where do you buy checks from?

What are checks? And what would I use them for? :confused3

Not sure checks will ever go away completely. I currently can't pay my mom's Gardner any other way. Same with my Accountant.

Had checking accounts at 4 banks over the last 40 years, checks have always been free from the bank.

And some companies still have a pension plan. But it's not the norm ;)

Bradford exchange. 1 box is $35.00 sigh. I love my muppet checks though. :) I use it for my rent, church offering and my kids schools. mostly. Then charities.

Another vote for Checks Unlimited although after ordering from them once their prices went up. I waited quite a few years before they sent me a coupon to return to them with a nice discount for checks. I just ordered a couple weeks ago. Checks came last week but had my name misspelled so had to call. Still waiting for them to re-print the checks. Hope they get it right this time.

I'm in a state capital, pensions ARE the norm for all those public sector workers here.

If you google, you can always, always find a discount code that is just as good if not better than the "new customer" offers. I just quickly pulled up their website, and their "regular" price for return customers is, for example, $36 for 2 boxes of duplicate checks. A 2-second google search found a coupon code that lowered that price to $13 for 2 boxes of duplicates, plus free shipping.

I get free checks from my bank, but they are now charging shipping (10$!) so they are not really "free" anymore

Thanks to you all for turning me onto this site :)
Checks unlinited is far better than my banks charges.

I switched to Wal-Mart last year when I finally noticed how much my bank was charging me for checks and just about gagged!! I get the cute Mickey checks from WM and they're very cheap. They come quickly and it's a painless process.

If you try ordering your checks through your bank and you do it online, you will find that the bank isn't actually ordering your checks, they're simply turning it over to another company themselves. I don't know who is raking in the huge profit in that but my guess is the bank.

Edited to add a link for the Wal-Mart Disney checks: http://www.walmartchecks.com/line.aspx?lineid=35&add=pbk

I usually use Artisitc Checks. Have never had any issue. Was supposed to make my order online last night, but never got around to it. Since people here recommended WalMart, I just checked their prices out. A few dollars cheaper than I usually pay, so I just placed my order with them. Current box of 150 is almost 2 years old, so I don't use them that often. Mostly for kids school and sports, piano lessons, church and a few bills. I use 2 different banks, and neither offer free checks.

I just placed an order with Checks Unlimited.... got 4 boxes of Disney classics duplicates with free contempo writing for $19.50. I probably have a lifetime worth of checks now but 4 boxes from them was what one cost at the bank!!!

I know I've seen muppet checks from one of cheaper check places. Also check walmart.com they may have them. I got mine from checks in thmail but I've used just about all the companies at one time or another.

Thanks! I will have to check it out next time. Unfortunately I just received a new box last month.
