Where do toddlers sleep??

A lot of toddler beds now come with built in railings so it’s hard to tell if they’ll fall out or not. My son moves around a ton and when he slept on his new toddler bed at my mom’s, that didn’t have a rail, he fell out several times. :( Obviously hotel beds are bigger so it’s less likely he’d roll off, but with him I’m not taking any chances. :D
Maybe having the railings hurts them instead of helping. They don't learn how not to fall out of the bed. Who knows. Kids will survive either way.

Sure, he was fine, but I'd rather not be woken up by a loud thud and crying as he climbs back into bed. He falls back asleep like nothing happened, whereas it takes me hours!

My almost 3 year old sleeps in a crib at Disney - we just request one at check-in. He is tall, and they are slightly shorter than a standard crib, so we will have to transition out of it soon... :( He does not fit in a pack n play anymore.

Might be worth trying the crib instead?

We’ve never been able to get a crib at Disney

Really? We stay on-site every month or so and have never had a problem (thankfully!). Which resort didn't have one for you? I'm going to avoid booking there - ha!

Lol we’ve stayed at a ton of different ones. They’ve always given us a pack n play instead. We’ve stayed at poly, POFQ, gf, old key west, the cabins at fw in the last year

From your list, only stayed at Poly since he was born and they brought us one there (we stayed in a dvc studio, not sure if it makes a difference?). We have stayed at Beach, Coronado, Boardwalk, Saratoga, AKL Kidani and Jambo, and Poly and had one brought up to us. I had to rent one at Wyndham Bonnet Creek.... almost negated the cost savings of staying offsite!

Good reminder that cribs (or maybe even p&p) aren't guaranteed to always be available.

That’s so weird. We stayed in a studio both times at poly. Idk why they only offer us a pack n play. I’m not sure if he would actually sleep in the crib or not.

We just stayed at the boardwalk villas and the bed rails adjusted to fit the pull down Murphy bed as well. Now that is a long drop, but our wiggly 2 yo grandson never fell out.

Our 4yo sleeps between us in a king. At least I know he's not going to fall out of bed

When my son was a toddler, we packed a small fold up tent with an inflatable mattress. I brought a very small manual foot pump to blow up the mattress. None of it took up too much space in the suitcase. He loved it because it was like camping indoors. He slept really well in the tent, and of course we never had to worry about him falling out.

When my son was almost 3, we put him in the other bed in the room with bedrails. He did fine.

At the toddler age, we just stuffed pillows on both sides of my son in his own bed. That seemed to work well. By age 3, your toddler might not even need that and be fine on their own.

My 2 1/2 yr old slept in the bed with her 5 yr old sister. No issues with her falling out, as she had been in her own twin sized bed at home for 6 months. They are so tired at WDW (if you're doing it right and making them walk sometimes instead of stroller all the time) that it's a sleepy trip to the potty and sink and then into bed!

Edited to fix typo!

At that age we brought a blow up mattress for our kids. The kinds with the edge around them so it felt more like a cozy crib. Then we'd book a king room. It worked great until they were 4 to 5 years old.

Put her in a bed and put pillows on either side. My kids all went straight into beds from cribs- yes, they had bed rails but they were also twin sized beds and they were younger (19-20 months for two of them). They travelled fine sleeping in different beds, etc. Toddler beds are a product of the baby industry wanting to make more money- most current grown-ups never slept in one. :) My older both travelled to Disney at 2 and slept just fine in beds.

On the furniture, the floor, the stairs, the dog, the bathtub, pretty much anywhere their batteries run down.

I requested the Pack N Play mattress only, and put my 3 year old on that. Happy as can be.

We've used a couch cushion as well.

In Covid, Disney got some of those old school metal cribs, so they should have plenty of their mattresses.

She loves walking, so will be doing that as much as possible. I think it’s just hard to picture her in a big bed, but they change so much in a year 😅

We did switch from a king room to a double queen so she have a bed. I’m honestly hoping to snag a studio so she can sleep on the couch bed.

Hello!

We pushed this years trip to September 2023 so instead of having a 19 month old we'll have an almost 3 year old. We had originally planned on using our pack and play, but that won't be an option for next year.

So where do 3 year olds sleep in the resorts? Does she get her own queen bed? Plan on her sleeping with us in a king? How to we keep her from falling out of the bed? Help 😅

I know by then she will be in a toddler bed at home (which is hard to imagine), so am I overthinking her falling out?

ETA: So I worry about falling since most of the beds have been raised up to fit luggage underneath and most rooms now have hard laminate. I'm sure she will fall out of her bed at home at some point but it's closer to the ground and we have carpet.

Thanks everyone! Switched to having two queens and will request bed rails.
At that age, our kids either slept in the bed with us (as they most often did at home) or in a sleeping bag on the floor.
