Where do kids under 3 eat for free?

I have noticed that at most all you can eat places, children under 3 are free. At some of the regular restrants the kids menus say ages 3-9, does this mean they eat free there too, or is that just a number? Thanks

I believe just at the the buffets/family style meals. If you have to order them something off of a menu than you have to pay.

Children UNDER 3 eat free at buffets and family style meals. Children UNDER 3 can eat off your plate for free at all others. If you order any food for a child UNDER 3 , you pay for it. Children OVER ages 3 and up to age 9 , are considered Children and pay childs prices/childs menu. Children ages 10 and up are considered adult and pay adult prices/adult menus

I have three children...age 2, 5 and 7. But my mom is going with us and taking my cousin who is 11. She's tiny tiny...the size of my 7 year old. She eats hardly anything. Mom wants to say she's 10...or really not say anything at all. Do they ask the child or do they just go by how old they look?

By the way...mom said if she's asked she will pay the extra money but thinks it's funny to pay for an adult meal for my 11 year old cousin who eats like a 6 year old.

If you're paying out-of-pocket, the 11-year-old will most likely be able to order off the child's menu with no problems. But, at buffets, she will be charged the adult price.

If you are getting the DDP, the 11-year-old will be an adult and will have to order off the adult menu.

They pretty much rely on the honesty oftheir guests, but they have been known to ask the children in passing how old they are...makes for an awkward situation for the child to be forced to lie. BUT if you are on the dining plan, you really have no choice, if you are over 10 you have to purchase the adult dining plan and park admission.

We were not charged when we ordered off the menu for our 2 year old last November. We did have to pay at CS, but at TS they didn't charge for her.

That is unusual. We came back in October from a trip with a two year old and were charged for every meal that was not a buffet or all you can eat.

I agree that it is probably not the norm. I was prepared to pay for her meals OOP but the few places we ate that were not buffet did not charge. Tutto Italia was the best. I asked about her not being charged and they said, "oh, she is a baby it is okay."

We were offered a dish of pasta at no charge for the baby at several TS locations last year, Specificlly Tonys and Whispering canyon. At Askerhaus the waitress insisted on bringing a kids meal - again no charge. I think she shared with her sister at primetime and the rest were AYCE.

If Mom says she's 10...she'll be paying the adult price because it's everyone OVER 9 who pays it. Just stick to table service locations that aren't buffets and you won't have a problem - then she pays for what she gets. if she orders a kids' meal - that's what she gets otherwise she'll pay for whichever meal she orders.

For buffets - it doesn't matter what she actually eats - you're paying for the variety and often, the character interaction, so you pay according to how old the child is.
