Where did you get your best Keurig machine deal?

My Keurig died. I want to replace it with one with a large water tank. If you have such a machine and got a good deal, where did you get it?

(BTW, this is my 2nd Keurig in 3 years, the first one died after 6 months and was replaced under warranty. These machines don't last very long, IMO but they are really convenient).

Thanks. I bought my first machine at Kohls but isn't it bad that the 30% off sale doesn't start until tomorrow and I don't want to wait another day, LOL. Right now, unless it goes on sale tomorrow, even with 30% off, I can get better deals at Amazon and Macy's. I'll wait and see what they do with their prices tomorrow.

Ugh...no coffee is a bad thing.

Can I ask you about what you say above with the machine breaking while not being too old? I planned on purchasing one for my dd next Christmas since she will be a senior in HS and will be moving away for college.
While she doesn't drink coffee, she drinks tea and hot chocolate.
I thought instead of her always having to microwave a cup of water (which, really isn't wise to do) I would get her the Keurig for tea/hot chocolate.
Do you think it could withstand the everyday use of being in a dorm room (and I am sure sharing). Thanks.

I have no idea what happened to the first machine. It stopped brewing coffee one day. For the months we owned it, we brewed about 5-6 cups/day total. Keurig's CS was great about replacing it but it was under warranty.

Our current machine brews about 6 cups/day. At my DH's work, they have a "commercial" Keurig machine and according to him, it's always out-of-service.

So, I don't think they last really long but nothing beats the convenience. The k-cups are available everywhere. I think it would be a perfect machine for a college dorm.

Ours broke after only about 6 months also and they replaced it under warranty. Those 2 weeks without a machine was pure hell! I bought mine at Williams Sonoma with GC I earned through AMEX, I will be watching this thread for the best deals since I know I probably have less than a year with the new one

Ours gets a LOT of use. I would say we make about 4-6 cups a day with it. Between ice tea, DD hot chocolate and our coffees!

Thank you both. I guess I'll purchase and hold on to the receipt and directions in case anything goes wrong. I think the convenience would be wonderful for a dorm room.

To the PP looking to get a Keurig for her daughter's dorm room: I think this is a great idea! We've had our machine for a little over a year and have had no problems. We use it 2-4 times/day. We don't really like the Keurig hot chocolate, but use the machine for hot water and mix in the hot chocolate mix we like. For hot water, you could also mix it with instant oatmeal for a quick breakfast, Ramen noodles for a lunch (only in college!), or other such things. Great idea!

Where do you get the Kohl's 30% off coupons? My grandmother wants to get a Keurig for my mom for her birthday and has asked me to keep on the look out for her.

I got mine from Bed Bath and Beyond. This is my 3rd machine also. The first oen lasted 2 years, but I wanted the new one because mine had the one size setting for brewing. So I gave that one away. The next one I bought is still working, but when I bought my house and moved out of my mom's I left it for her and got a new one. I have had this one for 2 years next month.

I would say look around for coupons for Macy's also. They do the 20% off when you use your credit card. that might be a good price...

Got mine from QVC it was the special value of the day.

I need a new one too! Ours is slowly dying after a little over a year and a half :(
It makes half cups a lot and has started shutting itself off. Not happy that this is a common occurance for them to break, but I LOVE the K-cups. frustrating!

Considering how much the machines and k-cups cost, that 'convenience' comes at a pretty steep price if they don't last long.

OK, not sure of "don't last very long", but I've had my original Keurig for 3 years now. I got mine before most people knew how to say "keurig". I used it daily and it's always worked just fine. When I purchased mine, they only made one type, no choices. I would've preferred a mini, but they were not sold to the public then. I used my first Keurig in my room at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando and thought....that's great.....came home and had the hardest time finding one, but finally did at BonTon Department store for $60. Still going strong. However, over a year ago my daughter got one, a little fancier than mine, and the water just stopped coming out. She called the company and they replaced it. I think there must've been a bad batch sold. My other daughter has the mini and has never had a problem with it at all. Her mini is 18 months old now.

I broke down and ordered one from Amazon for about $165. I ordered the platinum b70 with a 60oz. water tank. It also has multiple sizes, even one for a travel mug!! That's big for us. We use travel mugs a lot. That price was better than anywhere else on the net and I have Amazon Prime, so for just $3.99, I ordered it with one-day delivery so I'll have it tomorrow.

I'm not trying to sell Amazon Prime but for a college student, it might be a good deal for parents to sign up. I paid like $80 for years worth of two-day shipping. Amazon sells the K-cups on auto-delivery and they have groceries and laundry detergents...all good stuff for a college kid.

I found out the hard way one time, when it stopped working. When I placed the cup in the holder, it didn't punch out the bottom. So the top half was filling and not coming out. I turned the cup a little and punched it down myself. Then it started working just fine.

I'm also a big user of using it for hot water. I get a box of k-cups every so often with Staples rewards for ink, but it's not enough for the 3 or so cups of tea I drink. So I pour a cup of hot water and let the tea bag steep for a few minutes. Or I'll pour it and add a packet of hot chocolate mix.

I picked mine up at the flea market for $35 for the B40 model. I've had it for about two months now with no issues. I also use the same mug every time, and makes sure it fills to the same spot. I've also had decent luck brewing two cups of tea with the same k-cup. I don't know how well that would work with coffee though.

All:
Please help me. What size would I purchase for a college dorm for my dd.
She will use for tea and hot water and will probably share with others.
Do I get the biggest one so she doesn't have to keep filling with water or is the mini good enough. If the mini only is good for a few uses before filling up the water, I'd like to get a bigger size. One where she can use 3 or so times a day and fill up the least amount in a week. But seeing how tight quarters can be in dorm rooms, I know space is a premium.
Thanks.

I would get her the B40 model and not the mini if she's going to use it 3 times a day. The mini only has one cup size choice which I hear is really small -- like 4 oz! At least with the B40 there are two cup size choices.

I bought mine (B40 aka the Special Edition Brewing System) on a Black Friday deal from NewEgg.com for $88 with no tax and free shipping. I've had no problems with it so far.

Yesterday I was at Albertson's (grocery store) and saw the same model sitting on the shelf for $89.00. That's the cheapest I've ever seen at a B&M store. There was only one left on the shelf, but maybe the store brings more out after they have sold. They do take up a lot of shelf space. It was on an end-cap near the cash registers in a very visible place. If you have Albertsons' stores in your area, go check there this week. Regular price is $129.00 at most places for the B40.

Thank you very much. When I get to work tomorrow, I'm going to print out your information on the model and where you purchased. I don't have an Albertson's near me and only "know" of it from the dis :upsidedow
Thanks so much!

You folks are not going to believe it but before I heaved my old "broken" keurig into the trash, I gave it one last try for closure's sake. The damn thing worked fine! I have no idea what was wrong with it this morning. It was pouring water from the brewing part, back into the reservoir, brewing half a cup, stopping, then a full cup spontaneously, the cup-size lights were randomly blinking.....I mean it was WONKERS. There was no way I though it would work right ever again.

HTH do I explain a new $165 Keurig to DH when our old one works fine now? Oh, for Pete's sake!
