Where did you get married?

We got married and had our reception in a country club overlooking a golf course. They set up the big room for the wedding then when everything was done, we all split up to take pictures and get drinks etc while they reset the room for the reception. It was GREAT because no one has to drive to a new location for the reception.
::yes:: this is one of the reasons we chose our location as well. Just a short walk from the garden to the reception room. I didn't want to have to get in a car and drive between two different venues.

We went to a wedding at a ranch that was a lot of fun. The bride rode up on a horse-drawn wagon. There were reindeer milling about behind the bride & groom during the ceremony. They had a huge tent set up for the reception, but the sides were up, so you could see the forest around, and people just wandered all over looking at the animals and such.

We stayed at the Marriott on Collins Road last spring and there were a couple weddings there when we were there. The atrium is really pretty, good parking, food on site and several choices for banquet room sizes. Another thought would be out by the Amana Colonies. Some of the buildings out there would make really nice backdrops for pictures anyway.

I hadn't thought about the Amanas! We go out there a few times a year for dinner with the fam and to do some shopping.. mostly to get some chocolate and Amana wine. :lovestruc I'll have to scope it out a little better next time we're down there!

We got married at the glass chapel in Eureka Springs, AR. I was just Dh and I and it was great!

We were married here. It is a gorgeous old mansion which was acquired by my hometown as part of an estate settlement. The town turned it into a cultural center. Beautiful grounds and a classic old mansion...........and even better click on the link to see the rental rates, you'll be shocked!

Both of these are BEAUTIFUL! :goodvibes I love everyone's choices so far!

At the JP's baby!!!
$85 and over in time to head off for a week in Yosemite and stop at Starbucks along the way. It was every girls dream (or maybe just mine...)

We got married at the Marietta Garden Center in Marietta, GA (a suburb of ATL). The ceremony was outside at the gazebo, and the reception was inside the beautiful antebellum home. It was a gorgeous day, and the wedding was beautiful, with all thetrees and plants outside. http://mariettagardencenter.com/v2/Main.htm

We got married at Mandalay Bay in Vegas!! Had about 20 guests!

Congratulations!

I vote for Vegas with Elvis. I wanted to do that. I tried to convince my mom she could just give me half of the money she would spend on a wedding and we would elople. She wasn't receptive to that offer. We ended up getting married at my grandmother's church and had the reception at our company's country club. I ended up renewing my vows in Vegas with Elvis.

dfiance and i have just barely started planning our wedding - we're just talking basic stuff right now. One of the things we're talking about is where to get married.

We're not religious so we don't really want to get married in a church. We've thought of a ton of ideas and now we can't narrow it down. Some of the ideas we've come up with:

The courthouse (we were only kidding, but now it's starting to sound more appealing )
a local park
a cabin at a big park his family camps at
a small chapel (http://www.sts-peterandpaul.org/) - the pictures on the site are kind of old and don't really do it justice.
Blank park zoo in des moines
des moines botanical center
hotel ballroom
vegas! :thumbsup2

so while we try and decide where to get hitched, i have to ask all of you.. Where did you get married?

Disneyland!!! Whoooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Married in a church, reception at a banquet hall.

I have a friend who got married in a lovely park in South Carolina, with the reception being in their cousin's beautiful back yard....very nice wedding.

My brother and DSIL got married int ehir yard...also very nice but much more relaxed.

My friend's nephew got married on the beach in South carolina...I wasn't there but saw pictures and it was quite lovely as well.

I got married at the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego, CA. I am from Orange County initially but couldn't find anywhere besides hotels which were in my budget, and I really didn't want a typical convention center ballroom!

www.balihairestaurant.com

The website is terrible but once I visited the site, I fell in love. Amazing views and a unique room/patio garden which was able to be transformed into a beautiful space.

You are so lucky!! I love the Bali Hai!! We go there all the time when we are down for the weekend. It is SO pretty there.

Dh and I were married outside at Centennial park under a gazebo in our hometown. It was an August day and HOT!

We're not religious either, so we got married in the Palm House at the Franklin Park Conservatory. It was secular, beautiful and no need to decorate. :thumbsup2 I highly recommend going for something similar.

That looks really pretty! :thumbsup2 That's kind of why I've been looking at the Blank Park Zoo and the Des Moines Botanical Center - no need to decorate!

The best wedding I ever went to was our friends' wedding. It was both their second wedding, so they wanted small. And big.

They had a best man, a maid of honor, and two wedding guests. My husband was the best man and I was a guest.

The wedding took place up here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinel_Dome

We wore gowns and suits and hiking shoes. Once we were at the top of the dome, we changed into fancier shoes.

It was the most beautiful, stunning, awe-inspiring day I've ever had. The bride and groom were purely in love and we had so much fun trying to hike up the mountain without letting the groom see the bride. We even drove up together to the start point of the hike in the same car. The groom had to wear a shirt over his head so he didn't peek.

Later on, we all went here for dinner: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahwahnee_Hotel

When we walked into the posh dining room, the entire room erupted in kind applause for the bride and groom.

We had the typical traditional wedding in a Catholic church and the reception at a hotel ballroom.

My Dh and I always say we wish we would've gone to a sunny beach in Mexico or Hawaii. It would've been more affordable, more RELAXING, and very romantic.

This is definitely one of those "I regret" moments in life...... (Sigh)

We were married on a golf course green. Both of us wore jeans, DH wore a golf shirt, I wore a white blouse. Besides the JP, we only had 2 guests-the country club owner and the golf pro.
