Where did/will you spend your complimentary room night?

Hi ladies. We're currently in the process of getting our contract together and this has to be tougher than estimating the room block. I can't decide where to spend our complimentary night. I'm torn between the GF and the Poly. So I thought I'd get some other opinions and hope it makes the decision easier.

I'm actually using my free night for a Garden Suite (concierge level) at the Boardwalk Resort. I'm using it the night BEFORE the wedding so I have somewhere seperate from DF to stay and somewhere big for me and my girls to get ready the morning of the BIG day Plus with it being concierge we can all get yummy snacks while we're getting ready!

We had a great experience at the GF! We stopped in the lobby on the way to the bus after our reception- we stayed for the rest of the trip at BC-they brought us right to the room, checked us in there it was quick and efficient the view was great- on the marina with cinderella castle in the background! Wonderful!

We are using it at the GF - but it will not be our wedding night. It two days later. We are getting married in Epcot and our reception is at Atlantic Dance Hall and we are having an IllumiNations desert party later that night. We will be staying at the Boardwalk Inn. The night after our wedding is MVMCP and we will be at that with about 15 other people and I am sure we will not be getting back to our room until after midnight. By the next day most everyone will be heading home and we are going to spend that night at the GF. This way we can enjoy the resort and spend the whole day there by ourselves after most of our guests have left.

Just be aware that the Poly doesn't have any King beds (except in a few suites), so if that is a factor for you, it may not be the best choice.

We stayed at the WL for the honeymoon part of the trip. We just had the comp night added to the existing reservation instead of using the suite that was booked.

Meg, this is a great idea! One thing I'm worried about is that we wont have enough room for me and my five girls to get ready in a standard room. We are going to stay at the GF, but don't want to book a suite for the whole week+ we'll be there b/c thats pricey!! I think I"m going to see if we can do a suite in the GF for myself and my girls the night before so we have a big place to get ready! I hope that they have something available... Do you know if you are able to book a suite at the GF for your one free night?? I don't know if there are any restrictions as to what and where you can book your freebie

*Just a warning here. We added it to our existing ressie (which was in my name not DH's), but at check in there was no note or anything mentioning the free night. The CM tried calling the reservation line to confirm this, but no one answered. She just believed what I said was true, and took off 1 night.

Do they give you a congiere level for your free night if your not booked the rest of the time???

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge the whole time. I wanted to congiere level but it would be almost 200 more a night...

A suite is not guarenteed. They try and book you for one, but it is based on availability. There have been some brides that didn't get it, and I remember seeing pictures of one bride that got the Disney Suite.

Don't be afraid to ask for the upgrade. Play it up when you do it too. I had my bridal ears, shirt, and jacket on. I asked and she gave us a small ugrade from standard to wooded. It wasn't much, but seeing Wishes over trees beat looking at a parking lot.

I did this and we didn't manage to get any upgrades. I was bummed but our regular room was very nice.

We used the "which resort would we never actually pay to stay at" rule of thumb and went for the Grand Floridian. We did it for the last night of the trip so we could end on a high note (too bad a smoker in the next room pretty much ruined that for us...) and so wouldn't have to check out/check in anywhere on our wedding day.

Our DFTW contract specified that we'd get a concierge room, which was great, but when I tried to talk them into giving us a turret suite, it was a no go. Still, you can't complain about a regular concierge room!

Like they always say - if you don't expect an upgrade, you won't be disappointed.

Well, no one else has mentioned the Poly and since it was one of the choices the OP is interested in, I wanted to chime in. DH and I chose the Poly because we think it is the most romantic of the resorts even though we love a king bed

The room we received in Hawaii had to be one of the best views of the castle and the Seven Seas Lagoon ever. The concierge food was fantastic and we loved our room. We stayed right up to checkout time the next day because we wanted to take full advantage. I dream of another stay in that room for a future anniversary...

It is kind of a shame about those brides just adding on to the stay at WL because staying in a "honeymoon" room is really worth the hassle of moving for a day, imo

I'm not sure how it would work at the other resorts..but i DO know that i am guaranteed a Garden Suite at BW. Have the paper proving it lol. And yes, you can use your free night for a concierge level room (im doing it! lol)

I just looked at my paper work and this is what it says...
"As long as you meet your 25 room nights, you will receive a complimentary standard room night the night of the wedding at your resort of choice. If you would like to upgrade to a suite you would just have to pay the difference between a standard room and a suite. Please indicate where you would like to stay for this night, providing you reach a 25 room night guarantee."
