On Monday morning I called MS looking for a studio at my home resort for 5 nights the beginning of June. I was told nothing was available. So I gave MS a 16 day time frame to try to fit the 5 nights. Nope, nothing. She then told me she would call the resort to see if anything was available. When she came back to me I had my reservation for the 5 nights I originally wanted. I was so excited, I didn't ask how she was able to get them. Does anyone on these boards have an answer for me? She definitely said she was calling the resort, not CRO.

The unavailability means that there were no rooms available in member inventory (points). Since that time period often finds the resort with availability in general, MS was able to find a room from either the developer inventory or from the non-DVC point usage inventory. I'd think the suggestion that they "called the resort" is a simplification of what actually took place, but the end result is what is important.

Glad you got your dates! :)

Enjoy!

When I am waitlisted, I call as it it gets closer and request they call the resort. It has been successfull sometimes and not others but it certainly never hurts to try.

I made a reservation a few days ago and was put on hold while MS "made a call" for one of the days. [Glad that the day was available, I failed to ask who she called.] This has happened before. Are they calling the resort or checking to see if points recently went back into inventory?

I wonder if when they make "the call" they are actually juggling points rooms with cash rooms internally. Maybe swap a cash room for a points room for another date.
