Where did they come from???

I know this topic has been on the boards a number of times but I just got back and its been on my mind.

The number or forgeign kids in tour groups at DW.

In the words of Mr. Sulu from Star Trek, "oooohhh my".

When they get on a ride THEY ALL GET ON A RIDE!!! They bully their way in and will cut you off in a heartbeat.

I am very easy going and understand when someone gets in line to catch up to their group because they needed a drink or had to take a little one to the bathroom. I am fine with that, I understand because at one point or another my kids have put me in that spot too, but when one stands in line and when you get to the turn style about 10 show up.... that is a no go!!

I called them out on it and they pretended they had no idea what I was talking about until I told a the CM what as going on.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH, I mean really if all those kids are here who is back in their country.

...And don't get behind their tour guide at a Fastpass machine..it takes them 10minutes to feed all the tickets in.

I have seen a lot of threads about that here. I think the gist of a lot of replies I have seen is that there is really not much you can do because WDW CMs are not going to confront them about line cutting. At most they will warn them or something, but they really can't seem to do much.

And getting mad will just ruin YOUR vacation.

They came from the same place the groups of Cheerleaders, football players and other school groups do.

The difference, they are there NOW and the other groups weren't there. But they have been.

Seriously, there's no real difference between the groups besides nationality. The kids still "bully" there way onto the rides... The kids still act out etc...

Just the "season" depends on which group you get.

Has the "traditional" time for these groups to be at Disney changed??? Seems to be all year around now. Used to be certain months.
It's hard to put up with and still be polite and reasonable. We always try to head in the opposite direction they're going. Or we try to get on a ride well before they do. There are some rides where they are VERY disruptive.
Since we live close by, we don't have to go at a certain time. I prefer to avoid those kinds of situations if at all possible. I don't like ANY group that's pushy, loud or takes advantage of nice folks, so I'm not being critical of any one group or ethnicity.
Whatever happened to good ol' manners and class????????????

I think the common time for some of the foreign country groups is July and February.. I know Pop Warner is December, and Cheerleaders/Dance were there in January last year with us.

One time I saw a website that listed all of the major conventions and group competitions that were at Disney, but I never bookmarked it. It was helpful if you were planning to be there at the same time - it helped decide or eliminate a hotel if you knew it was going to be full of kids or groups.

A good reason for park hoppers! I discovered that the tour groups will congregate in the parks where the special events are - like Spectro and basically take over the hub for the evening. Even tough it may force you to skip those events, it's better to just go to another park rather than endure chanting, singing or cheering while you're waiting!!

Any large group is going to be annoying. We see a flag, we run away. Simple as that. Hahaha.

Thats the good thing about being a 30 year old DVC owner.....you can tell the groups to get out of your way. I have. I know people will say thats not magical. But if i'm at a park with my family and a group(any group) tries to bully their way in front of me, i do not allow it to happen. PERIOD. It's not a national thing, it's not ANY thing....except a personal respect thing. I will lay down in the mud to help an old women across the street, but I will also tell the ignorant group where they can go. That's me. I would do the same thing at a sporting event, a muesuem, anyware. I'm not saying I make a scene....and making a scene is not a "cool" thing to do to me. But we are all there. We all want our family, kids, friends to have fun.....and it's Disney.....so you have to wait to do it. That wait will not be by jumping past me....no matter what visa you carry.

They may be REALLY annoying but sometimes sweet justice comes around. We were on Dinosaur a couple years back and DDs screamed so loud on the ride they went and complained to a cast memeber... the only one that didn't speak their language. So they left the ride mad, and we left the ride feeling happy we had two loud mouth daughters.

I am torn about this subject, as DS16 is in Europe now with a tour group (high school trip.) I did remind him that he "represents America" before he left, hope they are civil in public!

But I agree, we always go the other way at WDW when we see those flags and large groups!

We should be thankful that groups world-wide come to visit Disney, it's truly a phenomenon for everyone and a chance to showcase America!

If my family is in line and we see a group trying to get ahead of us, my mom and I stand on opposite sides of the corral and put one leg on the opposite rail each, thus creating a small barricade. Or, if the line is moving steadily along, we stand shoulder to shoulder with my dad behind and between us.

If they ask us to move, we play "dumb foreigner". Since I speak French well, it works wonderfully.

We do this regardless of the nationality of a group. If they're trying to get in front of us or take our spot or whatever, we'll play their game and annoy them.

Oh, my other favourite thing to do is if somebody in our boat is taking pictures on a ride where it's forbidden (like PotC), I'll turn to my mom and say "you know, I had no idea there was no flash photography on this ride until they made that announcement. who'd a thunk it?" (even though I know full well it isn't allowed).

I'm sorry, I didn't read the line in the park pass clause that we weren't allowed to scream loudly. I would hope that any CM that DID speak their language would have set them straight. Would loved to have seen their reaction to ToT riders.

My issue with the large groups is that they seem to congregate right in the middle of walkways. They don't seem to get the concept of step aside into an area that is out of the way.

Now that I think of it, this isn't just large groups, individuals do it too.

We are leaving Disney tomorrow and we encountered these groups the past few days at EPCOT and DHS. They were AWFUL at DHS...screaming "Argentina" and "Brazil" across the Indy theater DURING the performance.

I'll include full details in the trip report. Despite these idiot kids and their ignorant "handlers," we had a great time and waited 20 minutes or less for every ride/attraction in all parks. Attendance is down and I'll tell you our strategies in the trip report.

As embarrassing as it is to say, foreign school groups don't have a monopoly on bad behavior away from home.

We were at the top of the Eiffel Tower, standing in a very long line to get down, when we saw a group of loud, obnoxious American college kids (from my alma mater nonetheless) elbowing their way to the front of the line. All at one time I was angry, disappointed, embarrassed, and wished I spoke a language other than English so that people wouldn't associate me with these ill behaved hooligans.

It is unfortunate that kids, no matter where they are from, when en masse, often forget their manners and how they appear to others.

But I agree too, we do everything to avoid them at WDW.

Picktails, I hope your son has a great time! That's a trip he'll remember for a lifetime, and a little lecture before he left couldn't have hurt!

Nowadays most people don't go to church so they never learned to be quiet during shows and movies.

Once I was on Tower of Terror and people were screaming so loud that my ears were clipping+ and distorting. Sounded just like what happens if you turn the volume on your stereo up too high. Maybe that is why my hearing seems to be "going" and I no longer care so much about getting good stereo equipment and home theater audio equipment although I am still fussy about superb picture quality.

I really don't see the connection between church and manners. I have seen some pretty rowdy church groups

I think if we all look back to when we were 15 like most of the girls from South America who come on the trip to celebrate their 15th birthday, we didn't act a lot different than they do. Field trips were always a time to goof off and see how far you could go before the teacher or chaperone reeled ya back in. We were loud and probably obnoxious to adults. We thought things were funnier than they were and some did things just to have the kids with them say" I don't believe she really said or did that"

And even as adults there are still some amongst us that think that being "the first one on the bus" is the only way for them to go and that rules are made for others to follow not them. Only difference is, now we aren't in groups of 30.

Most of the kids are good kids and just have to be reminded. Have had some really good interactions with some of the groups while waiting at rides.
