Where did I go wrong

I need to hang my head on the DIS board of shame DS 9 , has decided that he does NOT want to go back to WDW unless he sees other places first! OTHER places? What other places? True, when we vacation it is usually to Fl. We like the sun, green grass, flowers....you see, we're just outside Chicago and grey is not our favorite color. My folks and brother and niece live in SWFlorida...so we have family to visit. When we had $ to spare (pre 9/11) we would buzz down for a Dolphins game or two. O.K. So the kid has seen Florida a lot...funny, the REST of our family isn't complaining . How did I become aware of this devastating opinion the ingrate/traitor has? We have been trying to pre-pre-pre-plan a Dec '05 trip..and DS saw my WDW Bible/ folder out and said, and I quote..."NOT AGAIN! I am sick of going to florida!" "I'm NOT going back 'till we go somewhere else...like LEGOLAND in California!" AHHHH, we have a clue....and DL ! Too bad the budget to go to CA is like, WAYYYYYY more than getting to Orlando. Not to mention the longer vacation time needed.

SIGH.......I raised him the same as DD.....HE SURE LIKED ENOUGH WHEN WE TOOK HIM FOR HIS B-DAY LAST YEAR!

Tell me, is there ANY hope?

Dare I say it? You could take him over to the parks at Universal.

You did nothing wrong. It's not your fault. Sometimes our children go astray dispite our best efforts.

You've done the best you could in raising a Disney-crased child, but alas, something didn't stick. I know you've invested heavily in Disney videos, clothing, CD's, and stuffed animals to try to steer him down the "right" path.

Maybe he's just at that rebellious age, where nothing Mom or Dad say or do is good. Yes! That's what it is! Pure rebellion! He'll come around.

In the meantime, keep dragging him to Florida. It's for his own good. You're the parent here and you know what's good and right for him. Don't allow your morals, ethics, and righteousness slip just because he's making you question them. You know what's right and good. Just keep on being a good example for him to follow, and he'll come around. At least by the age of 28 or 29...

he seems to be hitting that age where it's not "cool" to go to Disney. I went through it when I was like 11 or so, but I have since grown out of it!!

Try to explain how lucky he is to get to go to WDW!

that's a good idea IMGONNABE40!-Universal is wonderful!!! espically if he likes Spiderman and such, he'll love the ride!! We go to USF now when we go to WDW and love it there!! make sure to stay on property and get your front of the line passes!

Maybe there is some sort of early intervention program you could enroll him in beofre it is too late?? I wouldn't hesitate however, as these things tend to get out of hand rather quickly!

I must've bypassed that stage, seeing at I'm 19 and going to WDW with the whole family on Thursday, lol.

Thanx guys....the little dear has been to USO, SW and KSC....thr poor deprived soul. With all due respect to any LEO astrological signs out there...I think that's it...he MUST march to the beat of his own drum...a true sign of the lion. O.K. I'm grasping at straws here.

I know, I know, we are the parents, what we say goes...perhaps these next 2 summers of NO vacation will knock some sense back into him. Make him appeciate how good he had it.

My daughter at 16 decided that the yearly trips to WDW were boring. So she sat out the last three years. She moved into her own apartment in Jan. of this year, and now says that I owe her three trips. So in 5 days she will be joining us for 9 days at POFQ. Sooner or later your son will come back into the magic. They always do.

Hey this will pass my daughter is 17years old we go to disney 2-4 times ayear since she was born and at different ages she has made many coments like we have been there a zillion time why again. but when we think to go with out her she changes her mind. so dont worry this to willpass.

Yes, he can take care of feeding Simba and Cali for me, seeing as DH doesn't know how to open a can of cat food. And tell him don't worry, we have a littermaid!

My DD has been going almost every year since she was 6..now 17 and says she's had enough! So I am going with friends in December....(she thinks I'm a little nutty...she wonders if Mickey or Pooh are sleeping in my bed at night!!! LOL)

How bout' you and I meet in WDW(you can bring dd) and my 17yr.old DD can take care of your son in Chicago....Lets say... during her winter break from college when there is 18inches of snow on the ground, the winds are howling and they can't go or drive anywhere! Maybe that will get em both back in the "magic" !
