I am trying to figure out the best and most economical way to have me and the girls get ready the morning of the wedding. We are staying at the Port Orleans as is most of my family. We are hoping to get connecting rooms even though they are not garranteed. Should I stick to this idea and have everyone meet there or rent a separate room at another resort like the GF? If I rent separate room I would need 2 nights because you can check in until 11am so it could be pricey. I need ideas. I know you can rent a ballroom but there are F&B minimums so I want to avoid that option. I would like to hear what everyone has done. Did you have the photographer come, I have seen alot of pictures of brides at the lobby of the GF, I would like pictures there before the ceremony but do you have to get ready there as well or did everone meet there before hand?

DH and I have a honeymoon suite at the GF, so all of the ladies will come to my room to get ready, and all of the men will go to my in-laws room to get ready.

That really doesn't help you at the PO, though... Maybe you could get an adjoining room, so that you and your family/friends will have more room to get ready. .

i got ready in our room with ours moms & my moh at the yacht club. we rented a seperate standard room there also for 2 nights so the guys could get ready. it worked out really well, we all had breakfast together at the concierge that morning, our wedding extravaganza was at the yacht club & after our dessert party my parents spent the night in the standard room instead of heading back to the wilderness lodge (all our other guests were at the allstar movies so it also saved us money as our charter was charged as a single roundtrip).

Malibelle, I won’t be much help as I had one of the ballrooms to get ready in for my custom vow renewal. But it worked out beautifully so please consider reserving one for your bridal party.

As to your question about photography, I didn’t want the Disney photographers taking photos of me while I was getting ready. I’m way too shy for that. But they did show up towards the very end in order to get a few official photos. As to the rest of my time in the ballroom, I had my camera with me so I snapped photos of my bridesmaids getting ready (and they snapped photos of me getting ready). That worked out perfectly for me.

So that you can get an idea of what one of the Grand Floridian’s ballrooms looks like when used as a “getting ready room,” here is the link to my photos: click here.

I hope that helped.

My mom stayed at OKW in a one bedroom, and we used that. The place is HUGE. You could rent points from a DVC member if you wanted to go that route, and it would save you money. We had Lisa there for hair/make-up, Carolyn for the dress, my mom, me and my best friend and her hubby, and Randy all in the room, and there was still room for plenty more. As for getting ready pics, Randy arrived about an hour or so before the ceramony and got some pics of me in my 'jamies' tank and pj bottoms (so nothing I'd be embarrased to be seen in), with my hair all done and a tiara on hehe. Then I got dressed in the bedroom, when I came out he got more pics of me like putting on the garter, and my bf adjusting my dress so my bra wasn't showing. But nothing that bothered me. As for Grand lobby pics I had those done after the wedding. So you have plenty of options.

My family; Dad, Mom, Grandma, Granddad, Maid of Honor, and myself will be staying in one of the two-bedroom suites at AKL. I will be getting ready there with my mom, my bridesmaids, and possibly my FMIL! Karla Fountain will be there along with Lisa from Lisa's Magical Weddings.

Keep in mind if you try and get a ballroom to get ready, Disney can not guarantee until 30 days out, and then there is a $500 food and beverage min last I heard. You may want to check with your EM first.

My mother has booked a 2 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk, so the girls and my dad will be there and the guys will be getting ready in our room - not sure where that's going to be yet... probably the Boardwalk main resort... :thumbsup2

We had a small number of people to get ready (only my MOH, my mom, dad and brother). We had 2 connecting rooms at POR, and my DH and his family and BM got ready over at POFQ.

We had more than enough room for our small group. I think it depends upon the number of people in your wedding party as to whether or not you need an entire ballroom.

We enjoyed doing photos on the beautiful grounds at POR prior to leaving in the limo. We liked having photos at so many different locations throughout the wedding week!

We had a garden suite at the Boardwalk so Mom, MOH and I got ready there, lots of room. DH got ready at Pop Century at his BM's room.

My mom is getting a cabin at Ft. wilderness so that is where my MOH, BM, and flowergirls and myself will be getting ready at, while the boys get ready in our WL room

Yes this is the new policy according to my SM...they may even raise the min to $1000 so she told me to come up with a plan B but we all know how Disney looooves to change their minds :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

edit- yes i just confirmed it is at the moment remaining at $500 but she seemed so unsure she was like well...we are not sure what the policy is going to be. UGHHHH They can be so frustrating. I am still not sure what i am going to do either...let me know what you come up with.

we all pretty muched stayed at the same resort. we didn't have adjoining rooms for us all to get ready. all i had was my sister come to my room early in the morning for her hair and make up. i had a woman from Carolyn Allen's come in and steam all of our dresses. my niece, who was in my wedding as well, did her own hair and make up. all she had to do was come up to the room and get her dress when she was ready. it was up to her to get dressed in my room or in hers. my sister opted to stay with me and get dressed though. it all worked out fine for us.
