Any time we look or ask for chocolate milk we end up with the Nesquik Chocolate Beverage - and knowing that it doesn't have to be refrigerated I can only imagine the preservatives in it. Does anyone know where we can find actual chocolate milk? We're staying at AKV but certainly anywhere in the parks would be fine as well.

TIA

:confused3 Nestle doesn't have to be refrigerated?

caveat: I have no children and have never bought choco milk at Disney, just curious :upsidedow

Yes, I have seen YooHoo at the resorts - it doesn't have to be refrigerated.

NesQuik definitely does have to be refrigerated and it is made with milk.

only places I have seen 'real' chocolate milk(if you dont count nesquick) is at the buffets.

Some milk doesn't have to be refrigerated until its opened- but its still real milk (like the Horizons boxed milk that many places have.) Still, I can't imagine drinking anything milk-related if it isn't cold!

The Nesquick is real chocolate milk and like any chocolate milk it needs to be refrigerated. You must have it confused with another product.

I have had the Nesquick and allow my son to have it as well. I remember wondering if it may have more sugar than the Pet or Homestead we get at home, but it tasted like real milk to me. Anyway, it's WDW so a little extra sugar is implied.

I thought it was Nesquik but perhaps I am thinking of YooHoo. I just recall it not being refrigerated (until opened).

My DH loves Nesquick and it has always been refrigerated and the bottle says to keep refrigerated, you are probably thinking YooHoo and I agree ick:sad2:

All Nesquick at Disney is refrigerated.

The only time I've seen Nesquick not refrigerated is when it's the powder concentrate from a grocery store, which you have to then mix with milk.

I always get the Nesquik chocolate milk at the resort counter service restaurants. It is real milk, not the nasty fake stuff. (Ewww!)

I would think that if you go to any buffet that has a soft-serve ice cream machine they also will have a pump with chocolate syrup. Order a milk and thenj go to the dessert bar and add chocolate syrup to the milk.

Great idea! I know it kinda contradicts the idea of a healthy drink and our boys do enjoy white milk but they love their chocolate milk!

Thanks

My girls got real chocolate milk a few times at disney (at counter service and POR), in the plastic container, but the funny thing is, every time they get it, one of them vomits...I think it has EXTREME chocolate in it...too much sweet maybe? Or just not the type we buy at home, horizon? Don't get me wrong, they love it while drinking it...but afterwards they never feel good :) We've started splitting it or not drinking entire bottle :)

We have the same problem - we buy one white and one chocolate and mix them (1/2 each) together in a cup - this tones it down and it's not so chocolaty/sweet.

Unless its packaged like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aseptic_processing it has to be refrigerated. Nestle probably makes an aseptic chocolate milk, but this kind of packaging has never caught on here (at least for milk).

Also you have to remember that Nestle has exclusive rights to many products like coffee in the parks so unless they mix it up themselves, its going to be Nesquick.

Nesquick is the same as any other chocolate milk product. The reason why it doesnt need to be refrigerated before opening is because it is vacuum packaged meaning there is no air to facilitate bacteria growth, this also is why you need to refrigerate after opening because there is now air exposed to the milk and bacteria is allowed to grow freely. So you can rest assure that Nesquick is just as healthy or unhealthy as any other chocolate milk, and is probably better since local farms usually use tainted milk for their chocolate milk products. Even though it's not really bad for you, it's kinda gross.

The milk that comes in these types of packages is also heated to a higher temperature in the pasteurization process, which kills more bacteria. This gives the milk a longer self life before it goes bad. Ultra High-Temperature Pasteurization combined with the aseptic packaging gives the milk a 6 month shelf life without refrigeration. This is the way milk is commonly sold in many other countries.

As a PP mentioned, some organic milk (Horizons) is sold this way. I buy this type of milk to send in my son's lunches. We refrigerate it and use ice packs in his lunch bag so that the milk will be cold like he is used to, but I like not having to worry about the milk going bad if it does happen to get too warm.

Exactly, ultra-pasteurized milk, like Nesquik, does not need to be refrigerated.

From NesQuik website:
"Because NESQUIK is specially pasteurized, you can store it in your pantry without having to refrigerate it. Just remember to put it in the fridge once it is opened. So feel free to stock up – now you’ll never run out of NESQUIK!"

Our local Starbucks carry Horizon's version.
