Points planning (way ahead)

So we've been members since 2006 but we've never rented out any of our points. After almost 20 years of 2 or 3 Disney trips per year we recently ventured into the world of Interval International and will be taking our first trip thru Interval in March. The cost of AP's has become almost more of a burden than it's worth so I'm thinking it's time to learn how to maximize our points for other places. We would really like to visit the asian parks. I doubt we can swing all 3 of them in 1 trip but would definitely like to try to at least do Hong Kong & Tokyo together. So I am trying to form a plan for what we're doing with our remaining points over the next couple of years. I know this is going to require some creative banking & borrowing & I want to figure it out (at least on paper). I don't know yet if we can do this trip in fall 2027 or if it will be a spring 2028 trip (2028 is our 35th anniversary so that probably makes the most sense but I kinda like the idea of fall). I just need some of ya to help me think this through. Using points for the asian properties will not go very far so I think we should rent them out and plan this trip with cash. But we'll want the cash in hand before booking anything which is why I'm thinking of doing the renting sooner rather than later.

We only own 250 points and we have a December Use Year - so if we bank our remaining 2025 points that we haven't used yet into our Dec 2026 UY we could also borrow from 2027 UY into 2026, right? Then we could try to rent out all of those points in 1 lump, right?? Would they all have to be used (traveled on) by end of Nov 2026 or would they be good until Nov 2027 or would the banked 2025 points expire before then? We own at SSR so I'm also wondering if renting them out is extra hard (ie takes longer) since SSR seems to be the step-child resort (although we happen to like it)?? We will likely use a rental service. That's why I'm wondering if I need to start NOW?

I scrolled thru the DVC Rent / Trade board earlier but it mostly just looked like people trying to rent independently and I didn't really see anything that addressed my questions. TIA for your experience & advice.

Points in your 2026 UY would be good for trips Dec 1st, 2026 to November 30th, 2027.

So, the banked 2025 and borrowed 2027 have to be used by those dates.

The 2026 points can be used during those dates as well, or banked forward if you decide not to rent or use!

I’d check out the “Swap” options through the main DVC rental sites and see what they could do for the international Disney parks and resorts.

My understanding is that the final payment for rentals will be after the person checks into the resort... so if you are booking reservations that are in 2026 to use all three years of points, then your payment may be in limbo for a while. I'd look into the terms at the rental sites on when you will receive that payment.
