Where can I wear my pretty dress?

My hubby bought me a beautiful little black dress for Valentine's day. It's kind of fancy, and I haven't had an opportunity to wear it yet. We'll be in FL for our anniversary. Are there any nice restaurants in the Orlando/Kissimmee area where I wouldn't feel out of place in my nice dress? We're looking for something where 2 of us can have a nice dinner for under $50.

Thanks!

orlando has lots of nice restuarants - the problem is under $50 for 2 people.

I honestly can not think of a single "nice" restaurant that two can eat for that type of money in this area. If you can go to $75, and don't drink alcohol, there would be several options.

Okay how dressy???? I mean is it semi-formal??? Also, I'm thinking if you add a hair more to the budget too then you'd have some variety.

What about Seasons 52? Their web site says entrees are priced from $8.25 to $24.75. As long as you pick a moderately-priced entree and drink, I think you could do it. And I've seen people in there in nice clothing.

Well, if it weren't black, I'd feel OK wearing it to a dressy wedding, and it would be good for a New Year's dance or something. We live in a really small town in a very rural part of Maine...it's out of place EVERYWHERE here! Hence, we're on a rural Maine teacher's budget! If there's no where appropriate in our price range, that's fine. I was just hoping there was. The poor dress is just sitting in my closet waiting for an occasion. My hubby was told that "every woman needs a little black dress," and since I didn't have one, he bought me one. Maybe we should go out to our (one) nicer restaurant when the HS kids have prom...then I won't stand out so much!

Are you big eaters? You could do one of the fancier restaurants at Disney and split an appetizer, entree and dessert between the two of you. It would probably be a little over $50 by the time your add tax and tip (as long as you don't do alcohol or other fancy drinks). If you could save $75.00 it would give you more room to work with. Check the menus at Deb's site for prices here .

Fo non-Disney, we always like the Melting Pot (fondue restaurant) for special occasions. I haven't been to the Orlando one, but love the one where we live. Check out the menu here
If your join their fondue club they should send you a coupon for a free chocolate fondue.
You could get the cheese course ($16.00), split the chicken entree ($17.00) with an extra salad ($5.00) with your free dessert for a total of $38.00, before drinks, tax and tip. It's not an overly fancy place, but we usually dress up a little when we go, so you wouldn't feel out of place. Plus if you haven't done fondue before, it's a great new experience.

Maybe the dress won't be out of place in too many places. I don't wear formal attire to weddings- so I'm thinking just don't go overdressy and the accessories and pick a Disney resort restuarant to go to. The $50 mark still might be hard to hit, but just keep it in mind when ordering and you should be fine.

the nicest restuarant at Disney starts at $80 per person and goes up - Victoria & Alfred. menu

I agree, you could even get away with O'hanas at the Polynesian which is a set price of 25.99 a person, just make late reservations for a quiet table by the window which I think is very romantic with the view of the castle and the lights dimmed for Wishes.

(you can also use Disney dollars in the resort restaurants, so you could actually save up for the night and really splurge with wine and desert...they don't sell gift certificates, so this was how I treated my parents)

Arthur's 27 -- CLOSED

Jiko at the AKL -- Will cost more the $50, average entree is $30

Palio at swan -- Will cost more than $50, average entree is $25

todd english bluezoo at dolphin -- Will cost more the $50, average entree is $30

the venetian room at caribe royale -- No idea on this one, haven't heard a thing about it

yachtsman steakhouse at the YC -- Will cost more the $50, average entree is $30

Keep in mind that if you take $50, back out tax and a 18% tip you've only got about $38 left for food/beverage.

Anne, everything on both list - were over $50 for 2 people....

I was just giving her a list of nice restuarants in the WDW area.

so she could see the price list and be prepared....

thanks!!!

What about just going out in your fancy dress for coffee and dessert instead of dinner? Or a drink and dancing/music? That might keep the price down. Unfortunately I can't recommend fancy places--never been to a place in wdw where I couldn't wear jeans or shorts. But I'm sure there have to be a few options.
