Where can I stay off site for one night before on-site res kicks in?

Hubby says we can leave a day early for our first ever WDW trip. I'm excited, but found out today we cannot get ASMo for the extra day at the beginning. So, where can we stay for the first day in Orlando - preferably some place we don't have to check out until 3pm or so?? That way, we can just check out, and take our things straight over to our room at ASMo the next day - what is the earliest I will be able to get my room at ASMo?? Do I need to fax a room request to see if they can get me in a room earlier than 4pm?? Hope I'm making sense. Thanks.

We used priceline for our one night before checking in on site. We got a nice room for $28.??, with all taxes and fees included. Just a thought. Ren

I would definitely try Priceline for a 3 star in the WDW area. Check out biddingfortravel.com to see what bids have been accepted in the 3 star range lately.

Last year we stayed at the Sierra Suites in LBV for our first night (arrived at 11 PM). We were perfectly happy with it We paid $59 through orbitz.com but I know you can do much better with Priceline or hotwire.com, especially since your trip is so close.

Good luck!

You don't have to wait until 3 PM to check out and head over to AS. You can go over early that morning. If a room is not ready, they will hold your bags for you. You can then head to a park and get your room key whenever you come back. If a room is ready that morning, they will go ahead and let you have it.

I agree w/ Priceline. The Best Western at DTD has been coming up for around $35/night, I've read here.

PL reservations can't be cancelled, I suspect if you keep trying you'll get Allstars. If you can't get movies take one of the others Disney will move your luggage for you.

Generally you can get a room long before 4:00. You can check in as early as you want, rooms are based on availability.

When we fly in to MCO, we either stay that first night or the last night (or sometimes both!) at the Hyatt inside the Orlando airport. $124/night via AAA discount at their website (cheaper than the travel websites by $20-25, too).

Easy to arrive late or leave early. Easy to find after a long plane flight. :) Most of all, easy to get the luggage from baggage claim to hotel, hotel to in-airport rental car counter to minivan, and then reverse the process again after WDW. God bless skycaps. :D

Also, for a hotel actually located *inside* an airport, it is AMAZINGLY soundproofed! The view from the restaurant and the outdoor pool on the roof are also very cool.

I'm trying to figure out the night before thing right now as well. I found a rate of around $28 for the Rodeway on W. Irlo Bronson just off I4...through Dreams...been looking for feedback on the hotel though before I book it. The rate is great though and includes continental breakfast.

To answer your other question...you can show up and check in at ASMo at any time....and they do a great job of having rooms ready as soon as possible. We arrived in WDW a little after 6am in July and went straight to check in. Our room was ready by noon. Just check in whenever it fits in your schedule then you can call back to the resort from time to time to see if your room is ready.

I agree with trying Priceline. I also needed to add on an extra night to the beginning of my ressie at BWV for October. On 9/2/03 I bid $35.00 on a 3 star room and got the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort. Rack rom rate is $99.00 per Best Western's site. As others as have said you can arrive early at the resort, check-in, they will hold your luggage for you and you can call later to see if your room is ready. Good luck and have a great trip!!

I did priceline last night and got the Best Western at DTD for a $35 bid....after taxes and priceline's service fee it came to $45....and I've discovered that normally this hotel charges a $5 resort fee per night....but I'm confident I'll be getting and decent room (the hotel was recently renovated) and the location can't be beat.

I think trying priceline is a pretty good idea...I used it once before for a first night and stayed at the Wyndham in DTD for $40...but bids that low don't seem to be accepted for the "resorts" anymore.

Though if I could find a cheap room with good reviews that I could book the normal way I'd probably do that.

They will? What do you do - just pack up your stuff and ask them to send it over to another resort and you find it when you check in there later in the day?

Yes, Disney will move your luggage from one Disney resort to another. We've had our luggage picked up from our room at VWL the day of check out and sent right to BWV where we were checking in. We'll be doing the same thing in October when we move from BCV to BWV. Its very convenient.
